    a better question probably would have been "how much did it cost you to have it made?" obviously it would be more than a regular table because you cant take advantage of economies of scale, combine that with additional R&D costs and it is probably at least a few times as much.

    • @IMortage
      @IMortage 9 років тому

      I suspect he actually got it cheaper than at cost.
      It'll probably be used as PR for the manufacturer to some degree, and he'll mention the company that made them when he travels around with the table, etc.

    For planets, is the distance between focus points the baricenter, or something similar?

    • @PhilHibbs
      @PhilHibbs 7 років тому +1

      The barycentre (or barycenter for USians) is the centre of mass of the two bodies, and that is the point about which everything orbits, and it is very close to the centre of the sun for all the planets except Jupiter. The Sun-Jupiter barycentre is outside of the Sun.

    • @SocksWithSandals
      @SocksWithSandals 7 років тому +1

      Baricentre is the centre of gravity of two objects. For Earth-Moon it is just under the crust.

  • @tesctassa

    Can't the eccentricity become more than 1? I guess when it's more than one the curve it's a hyperbola and if it reaches infinity is a straight line. Am I wrong?

    I thought planets orbited in conic sections, not ellipses?

    • @skaterzero807
      @skaterzero807 9 років тому

      Ben McKenna You're right, if you neglect multi-body interactions, orbits will be conic sections, not just ellipses.

    • @noswonky
      @noswonky 9 років тому +1

      Ben McKenna The ellipse is a conic section.

    • @BenMcKenn
      @BenMcKenn 9 років тому

      I don't think so; conic sections are asymmetrical, except for then they're circles, in which cases they're not ellipses.
      ...right?

    • @skaterzero807
      @skaterzero807 9 років тому

      Ben McKenna No, not right. Circles,ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas are all conic sections, and orbits can take the shape of any of these. A circle is just a special case of an ellipse where the eccentricity = 0

    • @StephanvanIngen

    Why not make the hole larger? Regular pool table has holes large enough that the ball doesn't swivel on it.

    • @superliro100
      @superliro100 9 років тому +5

      More fun. Also i think snooker holes are smaller than holes on a pool table, so if they werent near edge the ball would probably swirl around

    • @oliverwhiting7782
      @oliverwhiting7782 9 років тому

      s4623 I'd imagine that the fact that the pocket is exposed probably exaggerates the amount of swirling, because the cushion on a regular pool or snooker table would guide the ball into the pocket.
