I will like to have the dimensions of it and or the formula to build it my self and stay in 3 figure , I like size of it when don't have the space for normal one thanks for the video .
Is the design copyleft and can I make a table for me and friends ? You may add a new video with an other camera angle, for the table to look more oval and less circle ;-)
The best part is when the ball hits the pocket, it spins. Notating a perfectly 'Goldylock's' shot. If this thing isn't selling like pokemon cards by christmas...we are all dead.....
Sea Wolf Have you ever seen a price on a normal pool table? That's how it works with expensive things, you need to contact the seller for a price offer.
a better question probably would have been "how much did it cost you to have it made?" obviously it would be more than a regular table because you cant take advantage of economies of scale, combine that with additional R&D costs and it is probably at least a few times as much.
krabcat I suspect he actually got it cheaper than at cost. It'll probably be used as PR for the manufacturer to some degree, and he'll mention the company that made them when he travels around with the table, etc.
The barycentre (or barycenter for USians) is the centre of mass of the two bodies, and that is the point about which everything orbits, and it is very close to the centre of the sun for all the planets except Jupiter. The Sun-Jupiter barycentre is outside of the Sun.
Can't the eccentricity become more than 1? I guess when it's more than one the curve it's a hyperbola and if it reaches infinity is a straight line. Am I wrong?
Ben McKenna No, not right. Circles, ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas are all conic sections, and orbits can take the shape of any of these. A circle is just a special case of an ellipse where the eccentricity = 0
s4623 I'd imagine that the fact that the pocket is exposed probably exaggerates the amount of swirling, because the cushion on a regular pool or snooker table would guide the ball into the pocket.
the idea/concept is great, but what's the point of creating a game for it in real life when you can't even buy it, you'd have to go to where its located and ask for permission just to play a game or something..
Hence the real world is theoretically never mathematically perfect to a given set of variables because, theoretically, there will be at least one variable that wasn't accounted for.
relike868p And I suppose they should take the points off of regular pool tables as well? They serve literally the exact same purpose in pool as they here in loop.
Only .43 eccentricity elliptical pool table in the world? Sounds like a challenge

the most frustrating ending ever :D
If I owned a pub, I would so buy one of these.
These need to be sold immediately. Loop is a great game!!!!!
I think Loop is a very good spin on regular Snooker or Pool. Would love to have one in my house
love the badass slo-mo closeups
Shouldn't the ellipse be at a distance of the radius of the billiard ball inside of the cushion?
you will drown in requests for this table, Alex... get ready to set up business =).
tramsgar it's probably gonna be REALLY expensive tho, so I dunno how many people could afford it
+DarkAnimaYT But that is a really beautiful looking thing
@@anima94 shut up ane take my money already
The construction of that table is just gorgeous.
"A very long circle" you mean an oval right?
I'm curious how much larger than the diameter of the ball the focal pocket is.
It seems very close, only a few millimeters of difference.
This series of videos sparked my mind and inspired smiles. Thankyou!
I will like to have the dimensions of it and or the formula to build it my self and stay in 3 figure , I like size of it when don't have the space for normal one thanks for the video .
Wonderful, I want one, soooooo cool, thanks for posting, focus points are amazing.
How did you get the above shot of the table? I'd like to get a similar shot of a foosball table for a project I'm working on.
+Coolfolder ladder + camera + stand
Now it would would be a hoot to know how a tri-focal elliptical pool table would work.
id actually like to play this game
Now we need a DSV video about the comet Holmes! Maybe it could talk a bit about comets in general.
Is the design copyleft and can I make a table for me and friends ?

i have played on one of those in the spectrum in berlin. sadly they no longer have it there, so i cant tell if its eccentricity was .43 or not
So... Have anyone got in touch with this guy and knows how much does this thing costs?
The URL has "pulp" in it, like as in Pulp Fiction
lol so it does
Sorry Brady, have to thumbs down with not knowing the price of that thing.
Soliloquy I know the price of it!
Numberphile2 All this secrecy is very suspicious….
Soliloquy £3141.59
manudude02 That sounds cheap to me
+Soliloquy I don't think I'd want to announce its price on video either.
I'm still curious, though.
So if the table were perfectly circular with the hole in the center, would any shot in any direction fall in?
No, any shot from the center would fall into a hole in the center
TheHydraccana Or any shot coming from the center would bounce and go in the center.
Cadde thats what i meant o_O
TheHydraccana Yeah, i just added the "bounce" keyword.
+TheHydraccana +Caddi Thanks guys!
I'm trying to do my math exploration (internal assessment) on this game, does anyone have any ideas of what i could focus on?
Oh c'mon just tell the god damn price...
Sea Wolf if you have to ask you probably can't afford it.
no one got the answer yet?
Sea Wolf He won't say how much it is because he wants to be modest about it.
I'm pretty sure I can't afford it, but I'm still curious.
Sea Wolf Have you ever seen a price on a normal pool table?
That's how it works with expensive things, you need to contact the seller for a price offer.
Now build one with the same eccentricity but in snooker size :)
OK he said to contact him but he did not give any way to do so. Please ether give pricing info and a place to make purchases or give contact info.

The annotation on the right of the main video was wrong (It linked to the game video);
You made me search brady.
For planets, is the distance between focus points the baricenter, or something similar?
The barycentre (or barycenter for USians) is the centre of mass of the two bodies, and that is the point about which everything orbits, and it is very close to the centre of the sun for all the planets except Jupiter. The Sun-Jupiter barycentre is outside of the Sun.
Baricentre is the centre of gravity of two objects. For Earth-Moon it is just under the crust.
Can't the eccentricity become more than 1? I guess when it's more than one the curve it's a hyperbola and if it reaches infinity is a straight line. Am I wrong?
Now you got me thinking about ideal shaped and limit shaped pool tables. That's not fair, it's still 6 AM :(
It's been to long when can I buy one of these?
Where can I buy one of these
NEED TO PLAY.
Wales is the spiritual home of UK snooker, Boyo!
Sheffield's fuming.
Lol whenever I get a ball in it’s gonna make me feel smart
Should make the table bigger and have ALL the pool balls on it.
Oh. So that's why it's that excentricity. O.K.
I might have done it with an excentricity of 1/2, but that's just me.
Loop! It's Pool, but backwards!
Is Goblin backwards!
Sorry...
Ooooooooooooh. This helped. I didn't realize that.
I went to the school of the guy that invented snooker in Essex!
Now I really want to play Loop...
This is better than bumper pool.
The focal pocket kinda reminds me of a black hole.
The house is great too
Can you play an ordinary game of pool on the table?
i had a chance to buy one on Craigslist but the guy wanted a ton of money it also want as nice
Must. Play.Elliptical.POOLTABLE!!!
The website with contact info is in the discription
*LOOP TIME*
I am guessing 20,000 pounds. Worth every bit. Good stuff.
More lagniappes than you could shake a pool cue at!
Cool story bro
I thought planets orbited in conic sections, not ellipses?
Ben McKenna You're right, if you neglect multi-body interactions, orbits will be conic sections, not just ellipses.
Ben McKenna The ellipse is a conic section.
I don't think so; conic sections are asymmetrical, except for then they're circles, in which cases they're not ellipses.
...right?
Ben McKenna No, not right. Circles, ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas are all conic sections, and orbits can take the shape of any of these. A circle is just a special case of an ellipse where the eccentricity = 0
An ellipse is indeed a conic section
Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed it's elliptical if they hadn't told me.
But Seriously, how much was it. Are we talking 1 grand, or 10 grand, 100 grand. help
Why not make the hole larger? Regular pool table has holes large enough that the ball doesn't swivel on it.
More fun. Also i think snooker holes are smaller than holes on a pool table, so if they werent near edge the ball would probably swirl around
s4623 I'd imagine that the fact that the pocket is exposed probably exaggerates the amount of swirling, because the cushion on a regular pool or snooker table would guide the ball into the pocket.
superliro100 You didn't that the ball was being incredibly annoying by NOT going into the hole after the trillionth bounce?

Nice game if the focus point is not marked on the table
relike868p And I suppose they should take the points off of regular pool tables as well? They serve literally the exact same purpose in pool as they here in loop.
Really not as interesting as he says.
If you have to ask how much it is, you probably can't afford it! :P

We care about the damn pool table
