Hi, I love your videos! I recently adopted some A. vulgare from my yard after you recommended them in a "best isopods" video, and I've been enjoying your isopod playlist nonstop :-)
I wanted to comment here because I noticed while watching this vid that around the 7 minutes 50 seconds mark you display the recipient's name and address. If she's okay with that then all is well but I just worry it might have been included by accident? In which case I was wondering if you have any way of editing the address out of that little section of the video to protect her privacy?
I work in security so these kinds of things just jump out and glare at me >_<
Thanks for taking the time to read my comment and I hope you and yours are doing well!
@@jasencooper9757 Thank you for the kind comment Jasen. I really appreciate that. Best of luck with the 'natives' :) Thanks for the heads up on the address. I will blur this out if I can. Thanks again.
Thank you for this. How would one go about shipping large amounts of pods in one shipment?
@@mellewedin8221 You are most welcome! For this more in depth question, please consider using the Buy Me A Coffee option (link in description and first comment) to set up a dedicated, one-on-one session with us. A 10 minute session should be fine (if it runs over, not a big deal :)
And now I know how to ship. Why has it taken someone so long to put this kind of content out. Thank you!
My pleasure
Wally is the absolute best ❤
Always nice to see how others do it. I pack mine almost exactly the same (without the paper towel), never had a DOA yet and hoping it stays that way.
Since this video was released, we've eliminated the paper towel now. Thanks for the watch.
Awesome tips! I will definitely look back to this vid when I hopefully start shipping isopods
Thanks. Hope you do. As always, let me know if you have any questions.
Same
Still have 4 species tho
That's gonna be a LOOONG time
@@SupremeGecko But, what if I'm shipping here only in the PH?
Should I put an ice pack cuz its pretty hot here
Great video mate and highly informative.
Thank you. Appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
I got the answer to my question in this videos. I thought for sure that you wouldn't use a heat pac if the temps were high but I still wanted to ask to make sure.
Excellent. That is good news. And, if you ever have any specific questions on shipping, please let me know.
This is extremely helpful. Thanks Wally, because I may have to do this soon (outside of getting permits first of course).
Contact me by PM if there is a question I can answer that is not in the video.
I've been looking for a video on shipping isopods. Not to ship myself but to confirm that others are shipping and see what I should expect. Thanks!
PLEASE, let me know if you have any question on this. Here to help.
@@SupremeGecko Thank you. I certainly will do.
Hello, video starts with box labeled as "Armadillidium bolivari" but bolivari belongsto Porcellio genus :) Also putting substrate into shipping cups is not good from obsious reasons (box rotates countlesss times during shipping and substrate can sufocate isopods) . Best option is just sphagnum moss and wet tissue. Not a single harm can be done like that :)
Great catch! Well done. I noticed this after posting the video (perfect timing, right?!?). Thanks. What isopods are you keeping?
@@SupremeGecko Around 50 species i guess. I was keeping mainly Ants, termites and now half my pet room is filled with isopods :D Its a great hobby, my son and niece are obsessed with them too now (thanks to me :D ) I love working with their morphs, creating new ones, isolating odd balls. Also very easy to maintain even in big numbers. My friend is keeping around 220 species of isopods and maintenance is around 6 hours per week.
@@mossdwellers114 200 species! WOW! Even 50 is a lot! I just hit the 50 species of isopods this last show. And yes, @6 hours a week maintenance for me too.
awesome information ..I do have one question not related to shipping it was about your set up ...what was with the green tags on the containers they looked like half stickers
Great question!!!!! I add a green half circle to any tub that I find mancae (babies) in. I like to think of it as a green smiley face :)
Offering new isopods to the Supreme Gecko store page frequently. See link in description.
Was wondering if you were going to start offering them.
Coming very soon
Thanks for the info. Great setup: so organized!
Thank you very much.
Tanks for video
My Pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Another great video! Do you have any videos on how you culture springtails, I noticed that your spring culture in the dwarf white video was exploding
Thank you buddy. I don't but I've promised a couple people I would put one together so.... maybe this week (Friday). Yes, I don't do the water/charcoal thing, I just keep them over substrate and keep them moist- and fed well.
@@SupremeGecko Ok I'll be looking forward to it
You gave a lot more than 15. A couple of those counts were 25-30, do you normally do that? Massive bonus to the buyer, I guess!
We do! Thank you.
question for you. If the receiver of the isopods has a P.O. Box where ALL their USPS mail goes to. Is temperature as big of a factor? Is there a danger to isopods overheating/freezing between origin and destination?
I ask because some people (myself included) don't get our mail delivered to our door or even to a mailbox near our residence. We HAVE to have a P.O. Box.
I also ask because I need to start selling/shipping but it's supposed to hit 90° here soon
It is in my opinion. It decreases the issue but in extreme hot or cold temps, the animals are still sitting on a truck/plane/loading dock somewhere while in transit. Good question.
Great video wally
Thank you so much. I appreciate the watch and the comment.
BTW- looking forward to seeing your new videos soon :)
Great information.
Thank you my friend.
Super cool!
Thanks!
nice video,i like and subscribe your channel , if you like planted tanks with snails, shrimps or frogs look at my vids to chill, nice greetings from germany,..-,.-.,-,
Thank you. Will do
Can I sell isopods straight from my garden?
Yes you can- to a customer in your own state, or a state that has this isopod species in their state too.
Nice video 😊✌👍
Thank you very much.
Hello I live in Canada, I want to know how to ship isopods to USA legally.
You should check the regulations in Canada.
Why do you add substrate? During shipping the box is moved around and the substrate can crush the ispods. I say this because I've seen it happen and know individuals that it's happend to...
After our first shipment, no losses so far and I've sent out thousands. Knock on wood. I understand your point but, that's what isopods do- they burrow. An inch (or less) of dirt will will not impact them. I've received them in paper towel and in sphagnum moss too and have had both dried out where some isopods were lost. Again, if what you are doing works for you, keep doing it. Thanks for the comment.
Somebody got a bargain in the containers 😳
?
@@SupremeGecko I know this is an old video but they meant the people getting extra isopods I believe.
Or do you have a website
supremegecko.com (did you try this?)
What size box do you use?
Depends on how many items we ship out.
@@SupremeGecko Hmm, I see you like details. I’m planning on shipping either 1 or 2 deli cups of 10 isopods each. I can also ship starter culture of springtails along with them. What size deli cups would you recommend for 10 count medium sized isopods (Armadillidium vulgare, maculatum, gestroi, Porcellio laevis) These may come with a heat pack or cold pack.
@@siyg "I see you like details" I do, but more importantly, I like to give the right answer not a guess. Deli cups- we use 4 oz cups. For a box, if one to 2 cups, an 8x8x7 insulated (depending on season) should suffice. If you feel this helped you care for your gecko better, please feel free to support us through our Buy Me a Coffee (we call it feed our gecko) program here- www.buymeacoffee.com/SupremeGecko
Your support is not required but certainly appreciated by me.
@@SupremeGecko Thanks Wally. I’m definitely going to become a member soon
Do you ship overnight or two days?
It is better to contact me about sales questions through Wally Kern or Supreme Gecko or my web site. But, I send USPS express (2-3 day)
how long can they survive in shipping
Like max? Not sure. We've had a couple get lost in the mail for over a week and no issues.
@@SupremeGecko wow thanks for replying that's cool
@@smoonze4297 Of course! We try to reply to EVERY comment within 24 hours. Thanks again.
How much do you sale them for
On the web site.
How do I get a permit to ship isopods?
I actually DID a video on how to get your permit... step by step. Check it out and leave a comment if it helps.
@@SupremeGecko just found it, I'm working on getting my permit now, I'm so glad I found your channel!
@@liquidchicken2757 This makes my day! Glad to help.
First comment!
SCORE! Nice job.
Supreme Gecko did you order any rubber duckies? I thought about taking out a lien on my house for some :)
@@zacharymiller7641 :) not yet. I did pick up some 'red skirts'f at the last show I went to.
Supreme Gecko I’m going to wait for Rubber duckies become more prominent and prices decrease!
@@zacharymiller7641 Good call. I'm thinking by summer of next year. Maybe.
I think that was a little more than 15😂
