#1 no-no...do not crawl under a car jacked up with the OEM car jack. Wipe off the dirty oil from the engine where the filter screws on. You should coat the gasket on the oil filter lightly with clean oil before installing. Hand tighten the oil filter, do not over-tighten it.
Thanks for the video John, you are correct- there are maybe two North American Seltos oil change videos I've managed to find so far and I have a 2022 EX. Question since you've already been under your Seltos. Can you leave the plastic undercarriage in place and just use a tool (oil filter socket on a long socket rench extension) to loosen/tighten the oil filter? Thanks
Absolutely! It just makes it infinitely more complicated lol. If you have a filter pulling tool that will fit through the hole, go for it! I just remove the plastic cover because it takes two min and gives me full access. The stock filters are REALLY on there and I barely got it off, even with full range of motion - I ended up having to rip it off with a set of plumbing pliers.
Thank you doing the first one for ours, this is a big help! One question, what size are the bolts on the undercarriage? I have the forked tool and those are np I think they are M6 but just wanted to check. I am currently trying all the sockets I have lying around:)
Just changed oil yesterday. You video was helping. One problem is what about kia doesn't cover the power train anymore, if you don't change oil at the dealer. The reason I did it my self is they need appointment and charge 99.95
Thanks for putting out the video but if you a planning to continue and change your own oil then please invest in a car jack, a different oil filter wrench and real oil pan from big box store or auto part store. Lastly, you don't need to remove the under plastic cover to gain access to the oil filter. Just use the opening slot right underneath the oil filter LOL
The owner's manual and service literature says that it requires 0W-20 Fully Synthetic Oil... Mobil 1 filter type is M1-104 and it requires 4.23 Qt (4.0L) of oil. I just performed the 2nd oil change on my sister's 22 Seltos. 5W-20 won't damage it but just know that the recommended type is 0W-20.
HF and snap-on sell the appropriate pliers for removing the plastic anvil rivets. Don’t be an idiot and go jabbing around with a pocket knife. FYI, Fram is a junk filter.
Oil filter diesel and gasoline is totally different. The crdi filter is in front, just filter not using aluminium cup. Diesel oil is 4,8l and i guest that gasoline oil are 4,6l. I like technologi crdi diesel engine structure build is more firm rigid for lifespan wear mechanism, but i didn't like kia chasis(inner fender) build that's make bad deadning sound cabin wrhhhhhh.. Yeah noiskil automat solution? but it is what it is, you will hear thak-thak material but not dag-dag sound. 🙏

This is what I’ve been looking for! Thank you for making this.

This was changed as part of a recall. Part of that is to replace the filler cap from one with the 5w20 markings to 0w20.
Thanks really helpful. 😊
I’m done paying for it thanks
What’s engine size and model trim do you have ?
