Perfect explaination. The true source of unmystifying Google products. SO many other channels made it seem like using initialisation - all pages was a major issue. Thank you for putting this rumour to bed.
Hi Benjamin. Great video! That said, I'm very curious -- what is the purpose of the "Google Tag | Google Ads" tag in your GTM container? Does it provide some kind of supplemental data to Google Ads? Is it required? Would you recommend that as a best practice for people who use Google Ads Conversion Tracking tags in GTM? Thank you!
At 3:00 you are showing that the Google Tags fired despite the consent mode being denied. How is this happening? I have a Google Tag but it is "blocked by consent settings" because it has a built-in default state which is blocking it!
Ben, the fundamental question overlooked here, is why do we need to set up a cookiebot/consent banner at all if our Ads are only been shown in Australia? Do we need to accept Consent mode at all if we say use Cloudfare to block users from the EU? We don't want a banner popping up for every User when this is only applicable to the EU? I have heard it's mandatory? Looking into cookiebot GTM settings, it seems we can filter the consent mode tag to only appear for EU visitors (Add GEO Regions), so AU Visitors will not get the pop up - is that right?
Thanks for the Information. Could you please clarify if 10 users out of 100 not granted consent mode. then GA4 will report (i.e. 10 - non granted 90 - granted users) 1. Traffic as 100? 2. Will page_view event will be recorded for 10 users? - If yes, page_veiw event count will be 100 (i.e 10+90) ? 3. If 10 non granted users submits the form then it will record form_submit event - 10? please clarify it would be very helpful
Hi Benjamin, thank you for your awesome video! I can see all the utms after accepting the cookies under user_engagement in the Debug View. But any further interaction with the website doesn't show the utms anymore. For example when I travel through another page all the , etc are lost. Is this a problem for the conversion tracking and reporting?
Hello Benjamin, thank you very much for the video. I only see the campaign tags / parameters on the first page view event in Google Analytics. After clicking on a subpage, I no longer see it. Is this normal or should the source, medium and campaign appear on the page for all events, even if the URL changes?
Because consent hasn’t been provided yet. As I cover in the video, nothing appears in DebugView until after I’ve clicked ‘Accept All’ on the consent banner.
when a GA4 hit is sent before consent granted is established by the user, a hit with G100 is sent to GA4. After consent is granted, hits will have G111 but also a new session ID and device ID. Thats the main difference. Consent mode granted or denied sends almost the same amount of data, ecept session ID and device ID change for every pv, if consent is denied. So my problem still is this one GA4 hit before consent is granted. Because after it is granted, new ID's are generated, which might be bad for KPI's e.g. session/user count. So I guess I still have to make a trigger group, so a hit waits until consent_update to capture the first pageview correctly?
@@LovesData What about all the other tags e.g. from Microsoft Ads when they are set with "additional consent checks: ad_storage"? The tag will not be triggered on the first page, because consent is not available. So for non-google tags, would you still recommend the "consent update" custom event trigger?
Hi, can you please make a video on how to implement GA4 with zaraz. there are no videos anywhere. i followed your guide 2 years ago and you were the only one that helped. it would be great because zaraz loads third party code on cloud. please tell how to set up triggers, actions and ecommerce events.
We use cookie information consent mode v2 in our website, but it does not work at google ads, we do not know the reason , and try many times , could you help us pls

What if you use the normal „all pages“ pageview Trigger? Would that be wrong?
Hello Benjamin, thank you very much for the video.

Helpful video. But why do the standard events not show in the debug tool (session_start and first_visit)?
Because consent hasn’t been provided yet. As I cover in the video, nothing appears in DebugView until after I’ve clicked ‘Accept All’ on the consent banner.

I cover this at the end of the video where I show the reports. Google Analytics will tie the hits together.

This is Advanced GCM, right?
One notice - I will not reproccess data if in Consent Overview you will set "Aditional Checks" . Correct me if I am wrong
Why would you select this? And what checks are you adding?
