This is Ben Platt’s apology for Dear Evan Hansen.
I didn’t see the movie. The stage version was enough. I needed Hello Dolly, Aladdin, Singin’ In the Rain and a movie called Smallfoot as breathers
Damn
I liked the DEH film 🤷🏻♀️ but I’ve never seen the stage version…
The film didn't do the play justice.
i liked DEH
I saw this at Sundance and honestly I wasn’t excited because I’m not a huge Ben platt fan but I am a former theater kid so I was intrigued. It is honestly one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time and filled me with nostalgia for my theater kid days. I highly recommend people go see it!
One of the funniest films I've ever seen, go see this when it comes out!!!
Just saw the movie today and it was so funny and enjoyable I loved it!
This movie is for anyone who has been a theatre kid, a theatre teacher, had anything to do with youth theatre....SO many IN Jokes. I'm not sure it's brilliant cinema, but it sure is a lot of fun . Also, the kids...a whole lot of talent.
Great trailer! Sets high expectations.
Molly gordon in it, im sold, plus Ayo in it too. Yes Chef !!
an instant classic
1:27 ARE THOSE THE SPONGEBOB BFF LETTERS?!
This was filmed at my actual camp, which unfortunately closed. Although it wasn't a theater camp, this movie totally captures the essence of who we were and I can't wait for the world to see it. I'm so glad Kutz is preserved forever!

I did a FULL double take and had to rewind that shot of the lake like 4 times!
Warwick!!
Congratulations! Keep the arts in school.
The cast is made up of extremely talented and underrated actors, wow!
They're not underrated, they're unknown. Your generation needs to stop using "underrated" the way my generation overused "literally," causing it to lose all meaning.
@@ticklemeelmo73 I don't know what my age has to do with the word I used, but they are talented, UNDERRATED actors, who are UNKNOWN because they are...UNDERRATED.
Oh look, I used it twice in a sentence :(
@@ticklemeelmo73 ben platt is a tony and grammy award winner. he is known, he is underrated in the public eye. molly gorden has been in a very popular movie booksmart, she also has been in many other great movies when she gave an amazing performances. she is also underrated, even being in popular movies. noah galvin isn't exactly unknown either, he is in the good doctor, very popular tv shows. he is not wide known as the other two, no, but it still means underrated
@@xxShadowOfTheWolfxx Molly was also in Animal Kingdom on the USA channel
@@xxShadowOfTheWolfxx Thank you! That is what I was trying to say, you articulated it so much better than me.
As someone who went to theatre camp in their youth, then onto drama school, this looks incredible 😂
Just saw it tonight and it absolutely was so funny and so spot on!
I just saw it tonight and my stomach is actually cramped from laughing non-stop. Was so so good!
It's right up you ally, it's very good
Saw it at Sundance. This movie feels like it was made specifically for me. And yet like it could have wide appeal. I can’t wait to see it again.
As a millennial theatre kid I feel you
i also saw it at sundance! i can relate cuz i go to an arts school lol, its very funny how accurate it is
It looks like Waiting For Guffman with kids. 😂
I saw this at mystery movie day at Regal. I never went to camp or ever been in a play myself. But I have watched my nephews and nieces grow up in the theater. The entire audience was laughing so hard ( at the right comedic moments). This was very well written, the audience gave a round of applause at the end, which is rare these days.
That first bit with the secret to getting the kids attention is 100% accurate. The exact thing happened when I was a counselor at summer camp -- we had a couple of different call and response methods for getting the kids attention that I was familiar with but the new art director wasn't. He was unsuccessfully trying to get their attention, then I dropped in with the call and response gag and they were all focused. The new art director was like 'what was that?'
what did you say to the kids?
❤😅😊
So you are admitting to wanting to touch kids
I watched this movie in theaters recently and it was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever seen, as a theater kid this is the best representation of my theater experiences and the movie honestly made me cry, the atmosphere and people you would meet have been perfectly captured and I am honestly so sad that more people aren’t talking about it.
If this group of actors were a friend group I’d want to be in this friend group so badly
luckily they are all friends connected by ben platt he’s married to one of them aswell
@@springsbreak I thought I'd missed Ben Platt's wedding, googled as fast as I could - ENGAGED! They're engaged. Also yes, at least the 3 of them are friends and this film is based on the vids they made together in the past!
@@baioscoxae was about to google it too. then I saw your comment.
One of the most fun movies in quite a while! It’s not just fun but filled with hearts. Also shout out to the kid that delivered “that doesn’t look okay” line, it’s honestly gold! 1:51
I can already tell this will be the most unhinged movie I've ever seen, and I'm so ready for it!!!
Watch a Serbian film, that’s light hearted like this
@@Man_fay_the_Bru oh nice! I'll do that, thanks for the recommendation!
@@theahaberman8189 have you figured out that a serbian film is extremely disturbing by now 🥲
oHH MY GOD DO NOTTT
@@eliesundesastre9473 hahaha okay???
This looks amazing! And “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin” is one of my favorite show tunes, so if someone started singing that around me I would definitely join in like the kids did 😂😂
"All the leaves are brown".... does it for my crowd.
An intelligent stupid semi-musical comedy. I liked it.
Lgbt propaganda by the west.
This movie is absolute blasphemy to the innocence and purity of children.
This comment has been tainted by the blood of satan Amen.
Wasn't this called "Camp" last time it was made back in 2003, and it starred a very young Anna Kendrick singing "Ladies Who Lunch"? ua-cam.com/video/W8y9pNqjtb0/v-deo.html
It’s Camp 2003 for the younger generation and I love it.
Truly an anthem to all of us theater kids!
As a former (and let’s be honest, forever) theater kid, I am certain this is going to wreck me with good emotions
CASSIE HAS NARCED
I'm pissing myself
Well, there was an amazing movie called Camp in like 2005 with Anna Kendrick that looks like this movie stole the plot from.
WHAT A FUCKING TRAILER !!!!!!!!
does anyone have a link to the original short film they made in 2020?? i can't find it anywhere 😭😔
i just went through ben platt channel, seems like he deleted it unfortunetly. maybe he will post again after the movie or something?
I thought the exact same thing. It was my comfort video for years 😭
i was looking for the same thing why did he delete it nooooo
@@corinaf8094 probably something to do with copyright of the movie itself. but i really hope he will upload it at some point in the future
This actually looks like a lot of fun. Interested to see it when it comes out.
Go! And hurry!
This seems just like " Camp". I guess Ben was inspired by his PP costar Anna Kendrick who stole every scene in that film and does a great Ladies Who Lunch and dances in Turkey Lurkey Time.
I’m so happy this is getting a theatrical release! Can’t wait to watch it many times with my fellow musical theatre fiends. Let’s make this our own Marvel Universe.
funniest movie of the year
As if Camp (2003) and Wet Hot American Summer had a baby!
✅😊😊
one of my favs from sundance can’t wait to see this again with an audience
just saw this at a mystery movie night, and it was incredible!! it was a total love letter/hate mail and completely hilarious. the entire audience burst into raucous laughter multiple times. 5 stars! the entire cast did an amazing job and it was a sincere love letter to theater and the arts, and made me think lovingly and cringely at my own time at orchestra camp as a youth.
What’s mystery movie night? I must hear!!!
I am 14 days from the start of my 9-year-old theatre kid's first 3 week musical theatre sleep-away camp. Just from the trailer, I can totally see my kid in those portrayals. Wish it opened before his camp, will settle for watching Camp (2003) again before it. Hope there are some stars that rise from this like Anna Kendrick from the Camp movie.
Wet Hot American Summer walked so Theater Camp could run. I'm here for it.
YES
I saw this at Sundance it is funnier than it has any right to be. Genuinely a great mockumentary, especially if you’ve been to a theatre camp or program before
i love the cast so much, you don't understand
I DO! I DO!!
This, all my favourite actors in one, and it’s gonna be amazing because they wrote it as well 🕺🏼
@@asddewijklc i cant wait!!
CAMP is this movie but way better and without Evan Hansen. I like dude from home sweet home being in it.
I have just seen this movie and it is really good. Probably one of the best film in 2023
here to tell you, absolutely worth the watch
So good! "its not fun its ART!"🤣
This looks genuinely hilarious and veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrry relatable to a grown theatre kid. 😂
They filmed this at the camp that changed my life for the better in 1975. I'm going to have to go see this!
What camp?
@@milkmilk8721 Kutz Camp Institute in Warwick, NY, which operated from 1965-2019.
Jimmy Tatro does not get enough credit for American Vandal. Thats the post. Thats all. IFYNYK
if you now you know
This is the US version of Nativity
Looks fun but I also want to acknowledge that making jokes about children as *** workers and doing drugs is how those things start to be normalized in a society. That’s the pattern a lot of dark things follow.
"You're the oldest soul in the room. This is your last life."
Former hs theater kid here that went for 2 summers at a camp for choir music.(Almost like theater camp) This movie brought a lot of nostalgia. You will root for the kids in the end!
Thank you Ben Platt 🤘🏼 this look like it’ll be solid
Wet Hot American Summer has set an incredibly high bar 😎💪🏼
STRONG wet hot vibes
This movie was so bad, and the overly gay actors where cringe
Oh holy shit there are like straight up jokes lifted from Wet Hot American Summer
I loved the movie “camp”, does anyone remember that?
this looks great!
I NEED to know where to watch this and when it’s coming out
idk where but it comes out 14th of july
I saw this at Sundance. It was hilarious! Can’t wait for everyone to see it.
This movie is so getting the Broadway musical adaptation...
I want to watch this now 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
but is Anna Kendrick up to no good and breaking glasses ?
This looks so good! As an actress who’s worked at countless theatre camps (literally working at one in 2 weeks) I’m screaming at this!!! 😂
Just saw the movie! I'm not even a theater kid, but it was amazing❤ Highly recommend
Immediately, yes.
American theatre culture is so weird
this looks fuckign amazing
YEAHHHH MY FRIEND DONOVAN IS IN THIS MOVIE YEAAAAG
they finally turned it into a full movie yes I've been waiting for this!! also ayo and jimmy oh this might be my movie of the summer after barbie
"OK, let's do this. And cue Cocaine."
what’s a gay play?
….a musical” 😂
He's not wrong...
TheAter Camp is good and it is funny
This is like a continuation of pitch perfects Benji.
God this movie was ASS. Left the theaters 10 mins into it. Thank god I only spent 50 cents. Still think that was too much for this.
As one of the few people who saw Camp in theatres (and pegged Anna Kendrick as a future star) I am really glad they are handling this with a better movie.
K but if Anna Kendrick DOESN’T randomly pop in to sing the Ladies Who Lunch; rioting.
This was such a fun movie. Can't wait to own it.
Film looks FUN! I was a HH Camper & Junior Camp Counselor from 1962-1969. When I arrived as a camper at 8 years old, HH was just gaining traction. Liz Bernard was a young, sophisticated NYC redhead with a revolutionary vision of what Summer Day Camp could be. Man, she made it happen! As teen campers, we had "Cotillion". We lucky guy campers held pretty teenage girl campers in our arms, as we danced together for an hour - while our younger sibblings hid behind the gym doors and tittered.
Since we were on a nice wooden gym floor, Liz insisted we dance barefoot - probably the first time we teens gave a thought to how clean (or dirty) our bare feet looked to the opposite sex, lol. Just to play it safe, I'd rinse my feet in the spring water feeding the pond before heading to Cotillion. Dance moves: B+. Clean Feet: A+ . Hey, it mattered to Liz! Am I right?
If Camp (2003) had a naughty sibling.
So.....a sequel reboot of Wet Hot American Summer?
This movie was sooo funny
LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
The kids will do great
I’ve heard only great things about this one! Looks even better than I thought :)
somebody made this movie specifically for me
The confusing thing was I saw this preview in a theater in the Adirondacks and when the guy yells at the beginning ‘What up Adirondacks’ I was like what happened to the movie previews? Looks hilarious though and thrilled that a movie takes place in the Adirondacks
This looks so good.
This looks like one of the worst attempts to fill alllllll demographics and try to say they are all just awesome ….. I don’t get the pandering that’s pervasive in films today .
I mean theatre attracts all demographics as does all of the arts... weird comment.
Just saw it. I liked it
This film looks incredible. And I’m not just saying that because I’m a theater kid.
Saw this at sundance, definitely worth a watch, great movie
Glad to see a spin-off from wet hot American summer
This film seems going to be a blast. I have Kleenex ready for my laughing tears :-D
Wtf is a theater kid?
A kid who likes theater.
This is what happens when kids who grew up watching Camp make a movie and I am HERE FOR IT!!!
I am SO excited to see this movie oh my goodness!!
i’m exited
Looks hilarious.
This looks so great and I recognize one of the actores from Braodway Bares. Can't wait for this to come out.
