- In this webinar, Powerlink Queensland and EA Technology share findings from their joint paper presented at the 2022 IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference (EIC).
Paper title: Online Partial Discharge Monitoring and Failure Analysis Case Study of a 275 kV Oil-Filled Cable Termination
Back in 2022, online partial discharge (PD) monitoring was set up for Powerlink Queensland to monitor a 275kV oil-filled cable termination. As this cable termination was close to end-of-life, online monitoring was put in place as a safety device to keep a close eye on asset condition.
Join Brody Ward from Powerlink Queensland and Thomas Whyte from EA Technology as they breakdown data insights from online monitoring and use them to direct operational decision making. In addition, look at how forensic dissection can be used as a next step to identify the source of defects.
A start-to-end business case that gives a full picture into monitoring at a transmission level.
Topics covered:
Application of PD monitoring for transmission assets
Failure analysis data dissection - Dissolved gas analysis, scanning electron microscopy and more!
Using data to direct operational decisions
Advantages and challenges of online monitoring
Astute HV Monitor is the preferred online PD monitoring system mentioned in this webinar.
