It amazes me that their delivery of their lines should sound so effortless and natural. And they really look like they're having fun rather than giving a well rehearsed performance. No wonder Peter Cushing kept coming back! :)
This is the sketch in which Peter Cushing had to wait years to be paid by the duo for performing in it. The joke ran for another 11 years, with Peter Cushing coming back on to the show constantly asking to be paid and always being fobbed off by the boys. It took until the 1980 Christmas Show on ITV before Peter got paid. Fantastic.
for me ,Eric is the funniest man ever to appear on tv.The two of them make it look effortless. What a joy to have worked with them it must have been.Just priceless.
I love Eric and Ernie they are utterly brilliant, i wish there were more things like this now! That would be Awesome :D Its just so sad how we have lost these 2 grate comics even if it was a while age there still loved and Missed RIP :(
Only the professional actORS could really do scenes with Eric and Ernie, their stage experience really shone through. Peter Cushing never got paid though did he?😊😏 Or did he? Bless you Eric and Ernie for all the laughs what you gave us. ❤
"What News of Carlise".........(Eric)........they won 3-1.........hahahahaha so funny from in my opinion the greatest double act there was i never get tired of watching these 2 sad day when Eric Morecombe died in May 1984
I love the bit at 07:15 where Ernie (as Merlin) is adding poison to Eric's goblet from the ring he's wearing, and as he's doing this the ring hits the edge of the goblet and makes a loud jangling sound. Eric then makes an identical sound by tapping another goblet at the same time. It's so very silly, it just makes me titter. :-)
Eric: Rubbish! That's Rubbish that .. (Looks at Ernie and what he is wearing) ... Good lord (laughs) Brilliant cracks me up every time , true entertainment
There's a not very well known fact about Peter Cushing that's evident in this. He had absolutely huge feet. When he played a villain in Star Wars he had to do it in carpet slippers because the costume boots didn't fit. How do I know that? He said so himself in a chat show
the joy in my heart when i see Eric and Ernie, love them ❤

The fact that Peter Cushing got through this sketch without corpsing is a testament to his acting ability.

Are you John King or do yo mean it? 😊
Peter then used the money to build the Death Star :) (yes I know that was in 1977, still worth a gag though)
I still laugh at this sketch, there will never be another comedy team like eric and ernie, sadly missed.

Gosh, life was better for there being such blokes as these.
I keep watching this sketch over and over, love it

The comedy duos are great and the actors did well for their part.
To get the late Great "Sir" Peter Cushing was a real coup, Peter seems to be having great time.
Absolutely brilliant.

Brilliant cracks me up every time , true entertainment
Peter Cushing doing his best to contain his laughter at Ernie Wise 2:00 - 2:05 LOL!
I love how Ernie's moving. It's so funny. I can't stop laughing. Of course Eric is really funny.
Eric: "Whoever made it was a genius
Ernie: " I did"
Eric: "Stinks!"
I LOVE YOU ERIC!!!!!
Love it
Absolutely bloody priceless.
Love Peter Cushing,
Eric Morecambe was brilliantly hilarious in this sketch.
Never knew that Governor Tarkin used to be a king.
Eric's wit is so fast he's hilarious
"what a fine actor that boy is!"
"That's a girl!"
"Is it? You coulda fooled me from here."
My favourite of Ernie’s play
Was it really as far back as 1969? Oh Bugger...I was a mere 16 and now I'm 60...where has life gone?
cogidubnus1953 Faded in the light of old sunsets and the distant sound of passing traffic...
Dusty fingerprints on an abandoned handrail....😏
classic morecambe and wise comedy.

ME THINKS IT IS A TABLE SIRE...
I wonder if this is where the writers of Blackadder got there ideas.
Many were inspired by Eric and Ernie. They were legends of their craft.
No mention of the female guest star?
Not sure about the blond waitress but Quinnevere was Ann Hamilton, their regular female co-star
He never got his money you know
He did eventually, more than ten years later, buy he had to trick them to get it.
