For those who THUMBS-DOWN THIS very informative video - this is the 100% correct way to route these lines. You don't have to agree with it. It is correct though.
You just saved me a lot of hassle, I just recently bought a Polaris 300 Express and all the lines were off the carburetor except for the main fuel line, and for some reason I could not find any book or anything to show me the proper routing of all the lines. Thanks for your time and this excellent video
1 year from the time you have posted this and I am grateful for the information you have provided. Thank you so much this has helped my buddy and I on a new(used but new to me lol) bike he just purchased.
Thank you for this. I've been looking for this. I've found so many "wrong ways" for my lines to be ran. I have a 2001. Mostly they are the 250 Trail Boss versions, which are the same 250 motor and carb, but the lines are ran differently. Mine doesn't spit fuel from what I can see, but like you said in your updated video, it vibrates like crazy.
@@HorsepowerHouse Yeah, mine is far from perfect, but I just did a top end, and it seems to vibrate more, lol. I'm guessing from the increased compression. The rings were shot and had tons of blow by. It runs way better than before, just noisy and tons of vibration.
@@kenwilks6289 Make sure the rubber mounts for the motor are good and solid. They might need to be replaced too. But I noticed these just vibrate. Top quality. lol
I haven't figured out why some people have thumbs-downed this very accurate video. What is shown here is completely correct fare but some people don't believe it?
@@HorsepowerHouse I came for explorer 300 info but seems this will pertain to my 300 also. It ran okay last summer but this year no. Going to take care off an clean carb . R&R gas tank and fresh gas but didn't help.
Thats strange i was trying to find a video on replacing the throttle cable on my 98 trailboss and i noticed mine doesn't have an oil line into the carb only into im pretty sure the engine that big oil line in your video. I recently got a new carb that was a little bigger and an air filter, after putting both on and getting it started though it was almost full throttle everytime you would start it. The thingy on the inside of the carb is in the groove it slid all the way down so we think its the old crusty throttle cable because theres no way its an air leak. New carb to proper size and type for it we didnt realize the one we'd got was wrong but very similar.
To my knowledge you can't buy the exact replica of the carburetor for this atv. I searched for weeks and found nothing exact. Just "close enough". And the OEM one is over $700. :/
@@HorsepowerHouse yea we didn't find very much either. That's ridiculous. We got the throttle cable on the carb n filter, now I think its a matter of adjusting the air n fuel but we honestly have no idea which screw is which. Our friend that has rode machines for 30 years said he thought one was a drain but it doesn't act like it and a video told me one is fuel one is air. We're strugglin now to get it to sound right but most of all come down from the rev and idle right.
@@HorsepowerHouse thank you it seems like some of those may actually help with something. I think we've got the carb figured out just need to mess with it.

You are way overthinking very simple concepts. Just turn on your petcock. Before that, though, Reference your service manual to make sure your carb float is set correctly. Hey i have serious problem maybe you have suggestions. @@HorsepowerHouse hi there umm I went out side right now to check on it and was on rest position motor is not even on but the exhaust is all wet you think I need to remove carb and clean it?
Any reason the oil lines on both the carb and inlet would be capped ? I can email you a photo, the carb has a black rubber cap on the oil inlet and the vent tube where it attaches had nothing there. The larger oil return in your video has a white rubber cap and the whole line is not there at all
@@HorsepowerHousethank you! Yeah I haven’t ran it yet but I did put it back together and it won’t fire so I will take it apart again. Thankfully I did notice the mixed gas
It might help to spray a little starting fluid, or contact spray or brake cleaner into the cylinder just prior to starting it up. I had to do that to this one, and it had everything fine, spark, compression, fuel, etc. But when I sprayed some contact cleaner into the cylinder, IT fired right off, and ran fine after that.
@jakefedor3876 if you spray starting fluid in it, and it runs only for a few moments, then dies, that means you have a fuel delivery issue. So investigate the carburetor, make sure the float is set properly, make sure all jets are clear of blockage, I have other videos about that as well. Just search my channel.
If it does it when the bike is running - this is normal. Raise that hose up and put it in another frame hole. Will need longer tube. Welcome to the excessive vibration of this engine. It's how it is.
@@moem6220 there is an upper frame hole opposite of where the other carburetor vent hoses go. On the right side frame rail. It fits right in there perfectly. Just like I show in my other video.
