Your probably know by now but the trail wasn't closed. You were supposed to go over the gate keeper. They close that gate to keep out cars that can't get over the rocks. Sick video either way. I want to try it backwards now.
@midwayj5291 yes, I'm finding that out. Now I'll have to go back up and run it again. Dishpan Springs gate was closed about a month ago when I was up there. Will go check that one again too.
As previously commented the new gate keeper is because forestry was having to recover cars and because people were illegally harvesting firewood out there. Now I think I'm going to run it backwards though.
@davidbeeman8501 Definitely. The trail is short enough to run it in both directions. And too fun to pass that up. I finally made it back up there to drive over that Gatekeeper. New video coming soon.
Gold Mountain is always fun. I’ve never ran it from the back trail in. By the looks of it the way you came in was a lot easier the going back out. That gate and rock garden were put in a few years ago to keep out all the rift rafts. They were making illegal bypasses to get through the trail. The rock garden at the beginning is the new gate keeper as opposed to the old first waterfall. I think it was more challenging before they cemented the rocks in. It’s really not that bad and looks harder than it is. Your rig could have done it no problem. Keep the videos coming. I’m sure I’ll bump into you one if these days on the trail.
@cj7andotherjeeps940 sounds like I turned around a little too soon and missed an obstacle. I guess that means I'm going to have to go back up there and run it again. Oh darn.
