Capitals and leaf’s were fighting over who can be first out on the green
Losing 8 in a row was painful in the moment, but uh... now Philly has a better draft position, and we avoided walking into the MSG wood chipper and looking like total asses like the Caps do.
You're welcome for the playoff spot, Ovi!
We’re fine, we have a higher draft spot than Pittsburgh lol
As a wings fan i feel exactly the same. Feel like we might have picked up a game but wouldn't have been much better
See the caps have a ton of good young players so they didn’t care for the draft position…. They’re already developing players and making the playoffs was a good experience, even if it was a sweep
My Red Wings have nobody to blame but themselves for missing the playoffs.
But damn, I have to believe we would have put up more of a fight.
Caps fan here, you guys definitely would have made it more competitive
They may have, but sadly we'll never know. That was a tough series to watch as a Capitals fan haha.
No they wouldn't have.
Probably more goals at least. Wings had significantly more 20+ goal scorers and better goal differential. I would wager wings would've got in if the season was 10 games longer.
@@ReTuRneD1 no they wouldn't have. They WERE in. And then they played like crap for 2 straight months.
Never liked a video so fast in my life.
Never liked a comment so fast in... Well maybe once or twice.
I would like your comment, but as a person on the internet leaving it at 69 likes is almost my duty
Spencer Carbery did a great job getting the Caps to the playoffs. The Rangers are just a better team, and it showed all series
Lmao the crazy wildcard race just to get swept 🤣🤣🤣
I'm convinced Detroit or Pittsburgh would have won at least 2 games.
New York doesn't even look that good
Red wings or Pens would have won at least 1 game.
@@johnhenryeden916 "I'm convinced Detroit or Pittsburgh would have won at least 2 games" Welp maybe the wings shouldn't of lost 8 in a row a month prior and maybe the pens shouldn't of been below average for more of the season than the caps. All these ifs and butts but if the caps and isles are truly not good then the wings and pens should've won more games than the caps or had more OTLs like the islanders but they didn't. Sucks to be them but they should've won more during the regular season and they would be here instead of the caps and isles
@@johnhenryeden916Islanders are probably better than all the other teams in that Eastern Conference race. They just matchup horribly against the Canes.
@@johnhenryeden916that may or may not be true. But the rangers took care of business. They got up in most of the games and coasted the rest of the way. The rangers led for 4/5 of the series. Washington never really threatened. The rangers were far and away the better team this series
As a rangers fan, it’s very rare to have a playoff series with no stress. The caps never AT ANY POINT looked like they could compete. The playoffs start now
Agreed, the "easy part" is over
The main thing to be happy about is no injuries. Tom Wilson was pretty tame. I'm downright surprised he didn't take a Rangers player out considering Panarin's headshot on Oshie (an utterly obvious 5-minute major penalty, take it from someone not wearing Rangers' sunglasses), and Rempe's borderline hit that injured TVR. I'm obviously glad Wilson didn't retaliate, since that is just horrible, but I'm pretty surprised. Anyway, good series for the Rangers and they look pretty good to go far! Hope the team doesn't get complacent because next round will be much harder. Still picking NYR to come out of the East this year. :)
Rangers rolled Caps in 2015 and Caps couldn't match. Same thing here.
@@rt-rd5of Well that series went to game 7 overtime and this was a sweep so not really the same thing haha.
@@gmaasryPanarin’s headshot? Oh brother. They reviewed it and saw no penalty because there wasn’t one.
I know it’s fun rooting for the underdog and the “presidents trophy curse” and I’m sure there were lots of optimistic caps fans in that equation.
But sometimes a mismatch is just a mismatch folks. Rangers were by far the better team in the regular season and they more than proved it in this series.
Yeah I wasn't rooting for the underdog in this case. It really felt like Washington didn't deserve to even be there and there was never any question they were getting bounced quickly. I would have rooted for the Red Wings cus it felt like they had some magic at least. Caps just somehow got into the playoffs without seeming like they had ANYTHING cooking.
Yep. Well said. I don't think they even needed to prove it, but there you go. Lol
I would say caps had the “magic” all season, just look at how they won a ton of their games
@@ben_cross21 I saw a lot of people saying before the series that the capitals won a lot of 1 goal games. And that would give them a plus in the series. But the Rangers also had a fantastic record in one goal games this season as well.
Caps: 20-2-11
Rangers: 23-4-4
@@ben_cross21 By boring the pants off everybody? The Caps were maybe the most boring team in the league this season.
Ovi invisible. Strome invisible. Top 2 scorers of the season, not a good look. However, feeling good about the Caps going forward.
If they rebuild and stop trying to play defense only, they are in a decent spot with their young talent and certainly with their AHL affiliate.
Sadly, they don't have enough scorers to be anything but a defensive team right now. As the new guys get better and with high hopes for Leonard, maybe that changes in a few years. In the meantime, I hope Ovi trains hard one last time so he can punch his ticket and make a decision.
The fact that the Caps made it into this round and not the Red Wings probably robbed us of a much better series.
Maybe.
But Red Wings weren't good enough to make the playoffs, so...
Don't say "robbed." They just didn't make it
@@merz5050 They had more wins than the Capitals and NYI. I've chatted with people since who don't watch hockey but heard about what happened to Red Wings (Im from michigan). All of them commented how it's one of the reasons they don't watch hockey. Cuz teams with better records miss the playoffs and shootouts are stupid, just do ties if no one wins in OT. If this was the NBA, NFL or MLB structure with standings, the wings would've made the playoffs.
@@TheLarknessMonster the NHL priorise regulation wins. It's like if it was 3 points for a RW and 2 points for a OtW or SoW
Rempe actually can play hockey...my bad thought he was just an enforcer....hes contributing in a positive way and has focused on not taking liberties and getting into a tussle.
The Rangers didn't even have to break a sweat in this series.
That's what happens when they are gifted with playing in a division of AHL teams.
Stop this narrative it’s nonsense. It was 2-2 today going to the 3rd and game 2 was a comeback win.
@@JustaComment93how was game 2 a comeback win? The Caps led that game for less than half a period.
@@npatt6362 they still led
…even if they messed around and play fire, the Rangers just got a freebie.
Panarin s 2 goals in the series were both Game Winners. I think Chytil goes in for Rempe next series.
He didn’t exactly light it up but showed up when he needed to
Other than Trocheck it wasn't any one guy that really took over the series for the Rangers, just little contributions from everywhere
I think so as well. I have to admit though, Rempe played with some maturity this series, by not being baited into fights that would spark the other team. It's always better to skate away when you are up and the opposing team is trying anything to get a fire lit up for their team.
@@robertperrotto870 Tell that to all the idiot Rempe haters that are calling him a coward for not fighting Wilson. Funny thing is Wilson didn't act all tough when he was trying to get Rempe to drop the gloves like he did when he went after Fox.
First Rangers sweep since 2007, second since 1994.
Rangers fan who made the road trip, it was GREAT. 4 down, 12 to go
Picking a correct bracket for the NHL playoffs is very difficult, but I reckon a majority of fans got this one right, down to the number of games even
Rangers do well after some rest. Returning from ASG break, and the week before round 1 started both proved beneficial for them. Not worried here.
he hit fox in the same knee that caused him to miss a third of the season. definitely probably targeted
Oh, It was on purpose. The replay confirms that 100%
As a Caps fan, I'm glad it's over this quick. We need a tear down. The goal differential this year was pathetic. Charlie Lindgren did everything he could to keep us competitive.
Do you want ovi to play next year?
@@Mmm14829 The whole breaking Gretzky's record doesn't mean much to me now. Maybe I'm being salty. Gretzky is the greatest player ever. To come this close to his goals record is unbelievable. I have said on this channel, and in live streams that Mike Bossy is the greatest pure goal scorer I have ever seen. I stand by that.
@@KevinWindsor1971 kind of how I feel. And yes, Bossy was the greatest scorer to have ever lived. But I feel that ovi was a detriment to his team and should’ve retired, or retire now
@@KevinWindsor1971 Chasing regular season records and relying on old stars/overpaid stars to draw in a crowd is brutal for fans that just wanna see some competitive games. Caps and Leafs in a nutshell.
@@Mmm14829I just don't understand the childishness about anti-Ovechkin. What's the big deal? You want to hate him because he is breaking Gretz' record? No one is calling him more skilled than Gretzky. The dude made Washington the best team on average in the NHL for about 15 years. Of course the fanbase will be happy to watch him putter around and have the team be useless for 3-4 years as they rebuild. Why is that even a question? Happens in every sport on every team that has a generational superstar that plays in one city his whole career. Pittsburgh is going through exactly the same thing, except that they have Malkin too so it's a double whammy. Anyway, good news for the Rangers who officially are the best team in their division and probably will be for a few years now. Carolina is the only opposition. Hopefully the blueshirts can win a cup or two. Unlike some people, I am capable of being a fan of both the NYR and Ovechkin (the latter just requiring a modicum of appreciation for the sport, since, after all, Ovi is one of the greatest guys in the sport on top of his legendary skills).
And Brooms in New York rejoiced
LETS GO RANGERS they get to rest up well for round 2 feelin GOOD
Sweeping in a team in a 7 game series can be a negative too. Too much time off throws a team out of rhythm.
@@dmonsef I typically feel this way as well, but I feel like the Rangers have had some long lulls between games this season and they managed to look refreshed and not out of sync.
Rust is not a issue at this point of the season. I am sure there are some banged up guys on the Rangers. Rest and heal i hope the Canes/Isles series goes to 6 or 7 although I doubt it. LET'S GO RANGERS
caps had a good run, fans should be happy with that
Nice review, LGR!
Can't wait to see what the Caps will do this off season!
The Stanley (Cup) Parable Adventure Line™ has led the Capitals straight to the Broom Closet ending!
I wonder what the series would be like if detroit made it instead of washington!
I was just talking to my wife about exactly that.
Detroit or the pens would've been more entertaining than this. Rags probably still win but I doubt it would've been in 4.
honestly been saying it for like a month whoever wins that wild card race wasn't gonna makes to a 3rd home game
Detroit luck bombed into two wins last second against the canadiens with their season on the line. (Not to even mention all the losing that preceded that). They weren’t going to do a thing in these playoffs
@@clarkthomas7225probably not, but, at least to me as a neutral, would of made a more entertaining series than this was.
Score one for the good guys! A sweep 🧹 of the Caps felt soooooooo good! Lundqvist (in the studio) was wondering if the Rangers could pull this off especially after the Rangers were being outworked. Sure, I hated the Caps’ 2nd goal where 3 Rangers just stood there. Thought there was sloppy puck control but Rangers pulled it together and finally put together a 3rd period that was indicative of who they are. Washington was a nice warm up….Carolina is a real test. May fortune favor the foolish. 🤞
Ovi looks done
Embarrassing effort in all 4 games. If there had been a different name on the back of the shirt, he'd have been benched.
I'm guessing he is done, with this coach. A defense-only system is just ridiculous to sunset Ovechkin. It should be an open system with lots of young players, rebuilding the team, while meanwhile he scores some more goals. Do you seriously think it makes sense for an aging power forward to be featured in a defense-first structure-perfect system? That's like asking Allen Iverson to play defense. Cmon man. TLDR: The problem is not Ovechkin; it's the imbeciles that decided to squeak Washington into the postseason by playing defensive hockey, in order to accomplish ... nothing.
ovechkin not hustling has been a gripe throughout his career, and common complaint with one-way players before his cup, and even in the olympics. I recall the media trashing on Malkin and Ovechkin saying they looked disinterested while Datsyuk was only one playing a 2-way game on the russian team.
@@ReTuRneD1It's just about the media and how people are influenced. Calling an all-star level professional athlete "selfish" is just a pathetic inability to see past one's own local newspaper and/or nose. It's a business and guys are only employed for $10M a year because their play results in winning -- not because they are "selfish." Look at Michael Jordan. Does anyone seriously want to argue that he wasn't "selfish"? How was Michael Jordan not the most "selfish" basketball player in history? Yet he's the GOAT. Media. Sports is a great way to bring people together. But that does include idiots ... and UA-cam is just another place where idiots can speak as loudly as anyone else.
That wasn’t a sweep that was a power wash
The team that should have won, won. I’m glad to see my team win but it would have been exciting for Detroit to have made it. My number 1 and number 2 teams playing would have been a heartbreaker no matter what
Ovechkin is not Crosby, he never seemed invested and just wanted to go home. He’s turning into a detriment for his team and single-handedly prevented a rebuild. He’s a hall of famer for sure, but he’s always been #8 before anybody
Ovie scored 20+ goals after the all-star break. He may have gassed himself out just to help get the team into the playoffs. So, I don't buy the "He wasn't invested" sentiment. Unfortunately, he is no longer the player he was 5 years ago.
Glad for NYR but the Ovechkin talk is just pro-Crosby nonsense. Ovechkin is not remotely a selfish player; he is a goal-scorer. So he is the guy that is supposed to be in the spot to score, and supposed to expect the others to pass to him. And by the way, he's the best at it in history. And also by the way, the Capitals have been the best team in hockey on average for about 15 years under him. Or second if you want to argue Pittsburgh. Yes, Ovechkin is not Crosby. They're different. Ovechkin is miles tougher, stronger, faster (less so in his old age), better at scoring in every way conceivable. Crosby has better stick skills and definitely has a grit-style game as you seem to be pointing out. Hockey needs both types ... Brett Hull was great (Ovi is greater) and so was Gretzky (Crosby is less great but similar). It is what it is. Congrats to NYR, good luck to them going forward. My pick to win the East this year. Here's hoping.
Next year we need to get better and I hope we make it back next year
It was expected, but still good job capitals for at least keeping the games close.
This is doing wonders for my bracket
Thanks Shannon for the great commentary. It is a sad day for Cap fans everywhere and no I do not get comfort just getting in. They played well, but the Rangers have too much firepower at this time. The Caps GM needs to get some goal scorers in free agency or draft a Forsberg type of guy in the draft.
Also with ranger fans at other arenas it’s usually cause Madison swayed garden and ranger tickets are so crazy overpriced there people are willing to travel to catch a game. Most likely traveling and the ticket still cost less than that same seat at msg
At least they made it to the playoffs, makes for some good experience for the ahl defense that had to play.
That Wilson punchy-punchy was showing the intelligence of a volleyball. The Rangers scored, Fox was skating to join the celebration, and Wilson grabbed him around the neck from behind right in front of the net and punched him.
Tom Wilson is Tom Wilson. Believe me considering everything (including the Panarin elbow to Oshie's head and the Rempe hit on TVR injuring him) I am absolutely shocked that Tom Wilson didn't injure a Ranger in retaliation, like an imbecile. And relieved. But shocked nonetheless. I'd be glad to escape sans injury as a NYR fan, frankly.
@@gmaasryAgain with this nonsense. Even Oshie had no problem with that hit. Nothing wrong with it at all. Wilson is a moron albeit a pretty good player. What a dope for going after Fox after the goal. Just an idiot.
Would the Red Wings have done any better? I don't think so.
I won $485 on that kakko goal. I was waiting for it,and didn’t have to wait long at all! That’s 2 weeks of free groceries! WOO
On the bright side for the Caps, they got more Stanley Cups than some other teams still in the playoffs.
The Caps do not have Cups (plural) but just ONE Cup.
@@JRTrilling 1 cup is still more cups than no cup
I’m a caps fan, not happy about the teams performance. Much has been said about ovechkin but I can’t help but feel it’s the same way that the first 40 games of the season he was barely scoring. I don’t know what’s going on in his personal life but hopefully he’s alright. I can say that for most DC fans, we are patiently waiting for him to break the record, but we know the team won’t be able to fully rebuild until he’s retired, along with our other old first liners like Backstrom and Carlson
GET YA BROOMS OUT🧹🧹🧹🧹
The only team to be swept and it's the least surprising one. Why I gave them the benefit of one win... I guess it's more difficult to predict sweeps since it seems like a team can usually pull off at least one win. Yeah, but this team really had no business being in the playoffs. The absolute vacuum that was the Metro really set the Rangers up for a nice and easy first round pass lol
Well I mean when you're the best team in the league in the regular season you get the cakewalk by default 😂 can't say they didn't earn it
Well, there were a couple games that could've gone either way tbh
Even as an isles fan, I’m glad I got to see Ovie lift the cup once. I’m not hoping he gets another haha!!! But I think, much like the McDavid’s of the league, these legends hopefully get one. And 8 waited a long ass time for his. Now, LGI!!! Game 5 baby!!!!
Was at that game last night and it was like I was at Capital Square Garden
🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹
Sharks fan here, or i guess since the caps won a cup first, Caps East fan here saying we have they cap to take his contract for picks ;p
I thought both the guys the Rangers picked up at the trade deadline played well in each game in the series.
Capitals have a bright future in my opinion this sucks we didnt win a single game but we got the kids some experience and we got a future Superstar in Boston College ready to help the team late next season if the Front office does it right we couod quickyl rebuild and be ready to go in 3 years
As a Capitals fan, I am optimistic about the future because of our young prospects. But I am not happy about Tom Wilson being the guy in line to be the face of the franchise after Ovechkin retires. It's frustrating, because nearly every Capitals fan likes him because he gives the team grit, or something like that (basically, take what Rangers fans say about Rempe, Bruins fans say about Marchand, Panthers fans say about Tkachuk, etc.).
Tom Wilson is a dirty player. Even worse, he loses his temper and often hurts his own team with his actions (like his penalty last night). He's a bad example for his teammates. Marchand is a dirty player, but he gets under other people's skin and his dirty play usually helps his team. But Wilson is the opposite, his dirty play almost always helps the other team (for a rare exception, see Merzlikins losing his temper against Wilson in overtime this year). It's really scary that we're stuck with such a bad example as our next in line to be captain.
I really like the Capitals' future with guys like Miroshnichenko, Leonard, and Cristall. But I don't like that we're stuck with Wilson after Ovechkin is done.
I'm expecting Ovechkin to get about 25 goals, 25 assists, and play horrible defense next season. His entire career he's played horrible defense. But he's also been a big hitter, a high energy exciting player, and he's the best goalscorer ever. He put up his numbers when goal scoring league wide has been under 3 goals per game for most of Ovechkin's career. Goal scoring league wide was over 3.5 goals per game for almost all of Gretzky's career. It was much easier to score back when Gretzky played. Gretzky is the best player of all time, and it isn't even close. But he's not the best goal scorer of all time. Ovechkin is a great player, he's a top 50 player all time. He's no Gretzky, and that's okay.
The Capitals came into these playoffs wounded, with three defensemen on the injured list, and two more went on the injured list during the series. And they played the Presidents cup winning team, a team that can easily beat the Capitals at their own game. I expected them to win 1 or 2 games, and I said I would only be slightly surprised if they got swept. So I am slightly surprised. I genuinely expected Lindgren to steal 1 or 2 games.
I'm glad that the Capitals made the playoffs. I'd rather the young guys get some playoff experience, even if it's just 4 losses, than get to pick 3 spots earlier in the draft. The Capitals didn't really deserve to be in the playoffs, but neither did the Islanders, Flyers, Red Wings, or Penguins.
Whether or not a team makes the playoffs shouldn't be so reliant on how a team does in 3 on 3 hockey or in shootouts. Imagine if the NBA started doing 3 on 3 overtime, and then playing a game of HORSE to decide the winner. It'd be ridiculous. I really hope that we can scrap the 3 on 3 overtime and shootouts, and just give both teams a tie.
I know Washington promised Ovi they wouldn't rebuild as long as was still there, but I think it's about time he takes a good long look in the mirror and admits that this core just doesn't have what it takes to get the job done anymore.
He's here to shepherd in the next generation now
@@nyern He's with the Caps to get the record, then retire. Ovi is playing for selfish reasons, and this series proved it. He is not "Shepherding " or "passing along a legacy". He is with the Caps because no other team would take him at this point in his career, and this is OK, the Caps are rebuilding, they got in the playoffs by sheer luck. His WHOLE spiel this season was camping on the post for a tip in on the PP.
@@robertperrotto870 You say a lot for someone who doesn't know anything
@@nyern LMAO, how many points did he get this series? what was his +/- this series? How many significant hit's did he make this series? The only time his name was mentioned for something significant this series was how much of a liability he was. case in point - Caps had a PP late in the third, needing a goal to tie the game, and he stood in the same spot on the point the entire time, did NOT move more than two strides. Power forward not playing a power forward position, no hits, no digging for pucks, a single shot from the point that was blocked, like every other shot he took this series.
@@robertperrotto870 Who hurt you?
Are you going to do an after playoffs review of the refereeing? As a Caps fan, I am biased, however there seems to be a lot of calls missing this series or soft calls, and not just for/against the Caps. I wonder what the criteria is to be a referee. Hope the Rangers win it all only because my team lost.
Ovi needs to hang it up half the times he was on the ice he wasn’t engaging and made some awful plays including in game three when he lost the puck on his own blue line to set that K.Miller goal …… Panarin is playing with a ton of confidence
Ovechkin is a legend!
Let’s go Rangers ❤️🤍💙
THG are you saying Obi was not as bad as the comments stated?
Very happy with the Capitals' season. They were supposed to be bottom of the division, especially given Ovi's awfully slow start. Managed to snag a playoff position and there were some bright spots to gleam even from a sweep. Rangers are better. I'm a little disappointed that the caps played poorly, power play was awful, goaltending was bad, both of these things were good down the stretch. And that's where they lost cuz 5 on 5 was pretty even. So that sucks, but honestly it's hard to care with a team that has a -40 goal differential. McMichael, Lapierre, MF, Strome all looked good. It's reasonable to anticipate McMichael and Lapierre having much better seasons to come shortly, and if that happens, they should look a lot better in the next few years.
Boeser should teach ovi a thing or two
Caps getting younger and putting some playoff experience under their belts. One era sunsets, the next chapter begins.
Can a Caps fan please explain why the crowd and Wilson were upset after Fox took a knee on that tripping call. - confused Rangers fan.
For one, it’s the playoffs you get on the refs just cause…
But I personally didn’t see it that Jensen stuck his leg out one bit. I thought Fox actually continued on his course to draw the penalty (experienced play by him)
So if there was any reason other than just hating on the refs for the heck of it, it was that Fox had every chance to avoid the contact and didn’t.
@@clarkthomas7225 well, I would just say Fox, who missed 10 games injuring that knee in exactly the same way, was certainly not interested in injuring himself for a big penalty in a game with the Rangers up 3 games to none in the first series of the playoffs.. Bigtime negative upsideon such a move.. when I saw the view from behind, it was very fortunate that Fox was able to slide his knee to the side instead of the blade holding on the ice or Fox would have been gone another 10 for nothing.
Fox said something when he was skating by so Wilson went after him
@@clarkthomas7225nah that was a blatant knee on knee. You can see Jensen lean into that knee as fox skates by him. Fox literally just went straight forward going for the puck and Jensen wasn’t in his path to the puck. There wouldve been contact if he didn’t try and trip him. Just because it’s not blatant doesn’t mean it’s not dirty. Fox was rightfully upset at that especially he already missed games on a similar play where he gets a knee on knee because a player steps into his skating lane.
@@artie218Ok, even if we say Fox wanted no piece of it, do you think Jensen stuck his leg to do it on purpose..? I thought the trip was worthy but not a call for a knee on knee hit. Refs got it right here.
Now that it's done, I keep think8ng about that odd closed mouth smile Ovi had when they were seconds away from earning the playoff spot.
Let’s go islanders. Push it to 7.
Ovi was a ghost in this series
Rip caps. Probably the last time we see Ovi in the playoffs
Ovechkin might’ve ran out of gas for the season. Had a rough year, then really turned it on and lead this team to the playoffs in the 2nd half of the year. Took a toll on him unfortunately, happens to even the best players when u hit an age like 38
Well the chalk is out so far any big surprises in these playoffs? Not really..I guess the Stars play maybe but they still aren't dead yet.
lots of noise on fehervary,Malesystn and dowd being traded, of course its to the Devisl cuz us dev fans want everyone and anyone that is young instead of getting vets
OV feels like he’s a one trick pony on the PP, but with no Backstrom he’s been ordinary. At his age he’s going to need a lot more O-help if he’s to be effective moving forward. I remember back in the day when Milbury would take him to task for not hustling on back checks & having a reputation as a coach killer. Does he get back in the gym & rededicate like Breadman did in the offseason? TBC
At least Toronto wasn't the 1st team to be eliminated lol
There is that.
Don’t understand why the rangers came out so flat in the second especially after seeing all that emotion going into intermission ? Anyone find that strange ?
Rempe had more goals than Ovi...
Shannon I have to disagree with you. Any team will tell you they don't like too much time off as it throws the whole team out of rhythm. This goes more for goalies. Only benefit of a best of 7 series sweep, is when in the 4 games it was a lot of hard hitting and physical battles.
I think the Rangers if they play the Canes, it will be a big concern. The 4 games against the Caps, were 4-1, 4-3, 3-1, 4-2. All 4 games were close including the 4-1 game(Rangers scored 3 goals in a 2 min span in the 2nd period). The Caps played a lot of first playoff time young players and a goalie playing in his first playoff series ever. The Caps were also playing with extremely depleted d-man group. The Caps PP was nonexistent except for scoring 2 PP's in one game, and their overall offense attack was nonexistent as well. Overall, I think the Rangers should have defeated the Caps by a march lager goal differential.
Wings would have at LEAST won a game. From a Pens fan
I could see the pens winning a game as well it’s hard to shut Crosby down for 4 straight games.
Personally I think Pens would’ve been more trouble than Detroit.
Now we know what is the next thing for Coach Carbery, special team. The Caps aren't bad 5v5, it's the special team that is absolutely horrible. Funnily enough, the first time in many years that an elimination doesn't upset me a single bit as a Caps fan. Also, the amount of hatred towards us. Yes we got swept. But all I see are salty fans saying we don't deserve to be there. Maybe we don't, maybe there should only be 15 teams eligible for playoff with the president trophy winner having the first round sitting out. I've never seen ever that the fanbase not from the franchise making it a bigger deal than the fanbase for the franchise. I guess that's a pretty big achievement in itself, isn't it?
Filda returns for the rangers next round btw
Bro Filda is the best player in the league imo
Who’s Filda?
That blatant knee by Jensen should’ve been a major, or at least a review. He blatantly sticks the knee out. If they can review a clean hit by Panarin for a major, this should’ve been reviewed too
Me when the thing that was supposed to happen actually happens without issue
Oshie played with a broken hand...
Caps didn’t even play bad especially 5 on 5, rangers were never pouring it on offensively. Caps just got dominated in the special teams battle, pp was bad and they couldn’t stop NYs. missing there dmen definitely hurt the caps and Ovi being invisible out there is a nail in the coffin, he was a big reason they even made the playoffs
not a broom in sight
Let’s go Rangers clap 👏 👏 👏 👏 Let’s Go Knicks. Both fan bases too over their buildings. Knicks at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly 2 hours away and the Rangers at the Verizon Center in Washington DC 4 hours away from the Amtrak!!!!! Knicks and Rangers Garden party like 1994
HEY! HEY! HEY HEY HEY!!!! LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
Again, NYR should've moved on by default.
Rangers sweep the Caps… What a surprise
Bring out the brooms baby 🧹🧹🧹🧹
I hope the Rangers are prepared for the first real test coming up
Will definitely be a different series.
Last in first out
As a penguins fan, I’m biased. But I think either Pittsburgh or Detroit would have made this a more competitive series.
Detroit? Probably. Pittsburgh? Nah, that’s the bias coming in.
@@beneaton6765imo as a Rangers fan vice versa, Detroit hasn't ever scared me one bit whereas Pittsburgh sometimes has our number 😂
Or just could be a black Cat was at that hockey game
Hey rangers fans, tell me how has kaapo been playing, ofc i saw his goal but otherwise, looking good, bad or decent? Tell me. 😀👍
What was the point of the Caps pushing for a playoff spot when they KNEW they were just going to completely embarrass themselves? All it does is kill the hype for the playoffs. With the Islanders, at least you could maybe believe they were delusional enough to think that had a chance to get passed the first round.
Honestly speaking, the Canes/Islanders series could easily be 2-2. Sometimes unbelievable shit happens, and it has happened twice this opening round. A team blowing a two goal lead with under 3 minutes to play. Nashville had it happen to them today.
@@robertperrotto870 Yeah, I could see a small chance for the Isles to get through the Canes. But 0% chance they get through the Canes, Rangers, and Florida lol.
@@OWlsfordshire Florida killing TB is the surprising series for me, thought that series would go 6 or 7.
@@OWlsfordshire Flyers gifted them playoff spot. Flyers pulled goalie after Detroit scored to get to OT. No reason to pull goalie but they did
@@robertperrotto870Still could go 6 tbh.
All remaining 16 teams want that last spot for a punchers chance. This wasn't david vs goliath. NYR maintain elite status. Out of the first round with players having no notable injuries--go ahead talk about rust all ya want; Laviolette ain't there as icing on a cake
Hope UTree makes a sequel to Steamed Caps for the occasion. Seriously, this team was not prepared for the playoffs at all. Either the Red Wings or the Pens would've fared much better.
Now, let's hope the Rangers don't choke like they did last year.
They already didn't, made it to the 2nd round. The Rangers are by far a much better team with a much better coach. Those who are underestimating them will be surprised.
Glad the Rangers won but this was kind of a nothing series. We basically got a bye to the second round, and learned the Washed Capitals are done , which we basically already knew. Good for them for getting to the playoffs but feels like we should’ve played Detroit
Good, the embarrassment is over. Now I can watch their affiliate Hershey Bears. A more deserving playoff team with their talent back.
Dearest THG , please adopt the NYR ...
The caps fans sold them for a loss they where less than face value after game 3
Caps are so bad. I can't believe they were actually in the playoffs 😂
Everyone seeing this as a flat L, I saw that differently. The Caps were just a worse team by far but they outplayed NY the whole game they just took untimely penalties and the rangers capitalized on everything. Regardless it was good to see the young guys getting that playoff experience and playing really good too.
Caps were desparate, NY knew they would open up their game to try and get momentum. They sat back and made sure that the shots were from the outside. Very few of the Caps scoring chances were quality chances. That Kako goal at 19:03 was inexcusable. Being in the hole in the first minute of the game kinda set the tone for this game, as whenever the Rangers needed a goal, they got one.
Sure. Caps did sometimes outplay them sometimes but it was apparent that NY could take over when they decided to.
