When Mason Mount says "they just threw some together" when he's talking about the attributes on his first card, he's joking but technically he is correct! I used to do this as a job for EA Sports. When you create a new player in the database it generates random numbers between 0-99 for every individual attribute and if it is a player who you don't know much about then you normally leave those attributes as they are until more details about the player are known and then you go into the database and change them manually.

It's fairly obvious the stats can't be that accurate (look, how you you sign a numbered rating to half these things anyway), but obviously players playing at big clubs are seen more than youngsters starting out, who won't okay much in list leagues or smaller countries, so it's hard to get enough data (as you've only got 5 matches they've played go off), to formulate a proper rating

Start of FIFA 22 silver was harsh, but hey Ramsdale can be happy at least that he got to 81 by the end of 22, so should have at least that in 23.
That's not how it actually works, is it? I don't play modern FIFA so I wouldn't know. Elite players like Lewa, Kane, Haaland, Ronaldo etc. often get cards in the late 90s by the end of a season, but they never keep those upgrades. Or are you talking about the upgrades they make to the players' base card/stats during the season, like the winter upgrades? The whole system is confusing to me.
@@sheilaburrowes9081 No worries it does get quite complicated. Basically outside of ultimate the players all have their stats in squad files and they are used in kick off and career mode etc. These start of as the initial ultimate team card ratings.
They are then constantly changed by EA throughout the year, who give them upgrades and downgrades they feel they deserve based on how players are performing.
When we used to have winter upgrades, they would be the rating that the players have outside of ultimate team come the start of the new year. The ratings they have at the end of the season are then close to what EA will give the players at the start of the next game, usually the same or higher.
So as I said, Ramsdale got up to 81 rated by the end of the FIFA 22 , so he’s highly likely to have at least that rating at the start of FIFA 23. Hope that all makes sense :)
