Nice one for doing this. As you say when it's gone it's gone so the more videos made the more future generations have to look at how things used to be. That applies to the dock area, when Liverpool waters is finished I think people will be interested/amazed to see the before and after.

I'll be sad to see it go but also look forward to seeing the new place. Hope it does Goodison justice. I have years of memories walking across Stanley Park starting in the early 80's with my Dad to go watch the game every Saturday and some of the best memories are from when we played Liverpool. Never a dull moment in those games win lose or draw. Back in the 50's and 60's my Dad used to go to watch Liverpool too with his brothers. We also have family members buried in Anfield Cemetery. The whole area is kind of sacred to me and I wish I could take him to see one last game but he's no longer with us now.

You said at the beginning and I agree 100% is that if we were going to redevelop we should have bought houses (on the Bullens side) 40 years ago. The Goodison Avenue houses were demolished. It's too late now. From a practical and financial point of view. The new ground will be a big shot in the arm but it's a shame it's not quite big enough.

This place holds so many memories for me and my family , both good and bad . For all its faults Goodison park is still one of the great grounds of football . It’s held international matches , cup finals and even a World Cup semifinal. Probably Archiebald leaches greatest work . It’s gonna be a very sad day when we say goodbye to the grand old lady .

It's right up there with the most historic World Cup venues.
Leitch's lattice trusses are possibly the most iconic feature of the stadium, So I would have incorporated a row of them in the new stadium, because its important to retain the thread of history between the old and new ❤

It’s a disgrace that EFC are moving to an soulless boring IKEA stadium. Best atmosphere I’ve ever heard with the most mighty and glorious Luton Town when EFC won the league in the Neville Southall days. Such a shame what’s happening to our unique heritage.

It's a very old stadium with supports holding up the roofs etc, so it needed some redeveloping, but i just don't like the idea of this great club moving to this dock area. But then again, i'm an old fart who loves the preservation of old buildings and heritage 🙂

@@cerneuffington2656 two old farts together mate! I think, like old suspecting farts often do, that EFC moving to the docks was the greatest selling point to EFC fans. The stadium itself is diabolically dull. The most famous architect Archibald Leitch designed loads of these stadiums which are easy to notice after seeing some photos of his other stands inc. Anfield. They’re always different and have majestic little points of interest that these new stadiums never have. He’d be disappointed in these new stadiums. I’m fairly sure of that. Put this new stadium in a field on the edge of Liverpool and then there would be some questions. Even though fans weirdly love the thought of moving away from their home. Very rarely justified. I could list a lot of pissed off fans who have new grounds. Football fans don’t go to watch the football for the heated seats like at Spurs new stadium. Or the 5* food. They go for the football. Nobody really cares about the fancy shit. They want a stadium that is unique to them far far more than comfort. Although I’ve never been uncomfortable at a football match and I go to Luton who have the smallest seats I’ve ever experienced. Ironically our new stadium seems a little different. Not much though.

@@jamisbillson4872 If I had a say in the building of the new stadium, It would have been a priority to have those Leitch's trusses included. Not reproductions, the original ones, brought from Goodison to Bramely-Moore, and installed on one side of stadium. So at the very least for old farts like us, there would be something in the new stadium that is a continuation of the heritage and history of the club...
I'm just some old bloke from South London, who drinks and smokes too much, but seems to be more passionate about the heritage of club than the management and owners 🙁

It is amazing how all the old footy grounds were right in the middle of housing estates, i guess that made them the hub of the community. Now they are beginning to be built in the middle of nowhere, and why do clubs nowadays have to build or help fund travel (train stations etc). Buying up homes and I believe businesses is what my club Tottenham had to do, i'd rather they bought 3 points at old Trafford yesterday. I think they also help redevelop white hart lane station.

The architect of the new stadium (Dan Meis) made a point of trying to design it to be as close to an 'old style' football stadium as possible, minimal distance from front rows to pitch, deliberately not making it a 'bowl' like the Emirates and having the south stand as steep as is allowed to get the Dortmund home end feeling (though that's down to the fans of course).

Let's not forget this ground historically is prominent in football. 78,299 once filled this stadium a capacity that would be bigger than any stadium in this country right now other than Wembley. Its the only ground other than Wembley in this country to host a world cup semi final. Architecture wise yes it's wooden in areas but also contains Archibald Leitch lattaces which in theory should be kept and not destroyed. I think I heard somewhere that it may taken and incorporated into Bramley Moore but not 100% sure.

Not my place as a lifelong Liverpool supporter to tell Everton what they should do with Goodison but with the increasing popularity of the WSL and Everton currently playing their home games at Finch Farm and LFC using Prenton Park for their home Womens Super League games it's a shame both clubs couldn't work together, demolish Goodison and build a shared 5k or10k capacity stadium that both clubs could use for home WSL games. I'd have no issue if the new mini stadium retained the Goodison name and it would retain the heritage and tradition. It will never happen of course; it would be expensive even with both clubs sharing the cost and like you say the plans to sell to the developers are already in place. Bramley Moore is a massive investment for EFC without the additional expense of what I'm proposing. We'd never agree on what colour the seats should be anyway :)

I think because most of us haven't wandered around it but something that we don't get from drone images of Bramley Moore Dock is just how big (especially how long) the site is, but the long side of BMD (along the water treatment plant site side) is longer than the full length of Gwladys St (from the cemetery side of Walton Lane to the far side of Goodison Road).. Your closing shot (14:00 on) really brought it home how much more room there will be for people to hang out and make an occasion of the match and visit to the stadium.

Whilst its sad to see ANY historic Stadium - especially one that has existed for many generations and at the 'top' tier of the English football, its also now going to hold the Club back and had to move to be able to be 'competitive' in terms of Gate receipts and income related to ground capacity. A new Stadium also gives the club an opportunity to have a much more efficient Stadium with a better fan experience than they can provide at their current ground.
I say this as a die hard Red - and I'd like to see LFC find some way to expand the Kop and/or SKD stand in time - but Their situation is slightly less Complicated now with increasing their main and now Anfield Road stands to increase capacity to 61k (eventually) and unless 'crowded standing' returns as an acceptable and safe way to watch matches, Goodison is too small with no scope to expand...

There was a rumour that Goodison was going to be a Venue ie BANDS/Sports , even a SPEEDWAY Venue , but said local people would complain of the NOISE??? I don't think so, as the local shops/chippies etc are going to loose a lot of income, so anything apart from a huge demolition,or more houses.

Everton played in stanley park as st. Domingo's before moving to anfield and becoming Everton football club Everton win the first team to be presented with a trophy while playing at anfield and the reason why we moved from the landlord put the rent up the owners refused to pay more rent and moved to Goodison park the manager left his post and in 1892 become Liverpool football club manager off the top of my head I can't remember he became the first manager to manager Everton and Liverpool I could go on giving a history lesson but I'm going out tonight I hope some of my comment helps islands and agree with kev Goodison park should re main and be used by the community even if they bulldoze the main and build a smaller one use it for the woman's football
