  • To me, this is the queen of Via Ferrata in Slovenia. I didn't say this is the best or the one I love the most. I think there is another Via Ferrata for that. But Renke 2 is an amazing Via Ferrata that announces itself as a treat to anyone in love of this sport.

Remember, Ferrata.Bloc is amazing, it helps a lot but, sometimes it can fail and requires discipline and well practiced utilisation. In my case, it never failed when I was using it and in great need of help. It only failed in random not critical situations or during testing. Ferrata.Bloc helped me climb some routes otherwise I would've not been able to do. Remember, this is not a safety device. It only serves as an aiding item. It adds to your safety in situations where otherwise you will get into trouble.
For my case, it always helped and I see myself buying it back again (I hope by then a version 2 will be released)

Better get a Skylotec Rider 3.0. I love it and its the most safe way to climb via Ferrata.

Hi, nice video, what camera are you using?

This is the Insta360 X3. A workhorse in my opinion. The battery last ages in above 4k recording, it never overheats, sturdy, great image quality. Out of all set-ups I've tried this so far works best for me.

@@JetSetYourself Thx for opinion, i was thinking about couple of types also go pro but i think now i will go for insta because those parameters what you mentioned are very important for me. Last year ive done 3 ferratas near Cortina di Ampezzo in Italy and i missed this camera now :). Dont wanat to make same mistake again, this footage are awesome.

@chevchelios9270 I have gopro 10 and 11 with the max lens as well. I tried them in different ways. If you want to solo track yourself, insta360 X3 is the best option. You don't need like me the the backpack mount. It can up to a point also work by sticking the selfie stick into the backpack. Now. If you know you will stop and record others and yourself as well then maybe gopro or action 4 is better. Remember that X3 requires post production. As you see it does a very good job on tracking. If I set myself to edit the angles I can get even better footage. The good part with X3 is that you get the 360 view and choose in post how to frame. The downside is the post editing. It can be time consuming. To date, the best angles I got with X3. Probably if I would've had someone following me, gopro or action 4 will do a very good job. As a solo climber, X3 is the better option. I have the remote, I set it, start and focus on climbing.

@@JetSetYourself I have gopro 8, still get good shots in 4k but as a solo climber i missed some 360 camera and thats what im looking for right now. I make a post production in Filmora 12, hope its gonna work with 360 also, love this program. So to make a footage like you of a full person I need some selfie stick attached to my backpack somehow or there are some ready attachments to buy? Thanks for your advice, i think i go for insta.

@chevchelios9270 I use Filmora 13. I find Filmora to be very good for what I need. Insta360 footage has to first be post produced with the Insta360 studio software provided by them for free. After that you can complete inside Filmora.
I use the Insta360 backpack mount and I have the climbing mount as well. But, insta360 sells invisible selfie sticks that can be used without a mount (I recommend the mount for a follow me point of view)

may i ask what that leg pouch is for? and whats the name of that?
and i saw yor insta360 scratch alon the rock a few times... what is your set up with the camera? do you have any protection on there like a case or sth?

After a quick search I was able to find the leg pouch on the above website. Should help with the name of it.
      What is it for?
Many times I use and action camera to record on breaks while climbing a Via Ferrata (or to put things I need to access fast while on mountaineering conquests).
It was OK until it started to be bad. I had two bad incidents and after that I started to search for an alternative (that I was able yo somehow find).
The very bad incident happened on Via Ferrata when the camera with the selfie stick were sitting inside the pouch and the selfie stick got stuck into the safety steel cable of the Via Ferrata. I aost fell because of that. And overall it forced me to pump my arms on a very hard vertical and it made the climb after that difficult. This is why currently I no longer take it with me on Via Ferrata and replaced with a chest pouch from Osprey (www.osprey.com/gb/osprey-archeon-chest-rig-s24).
The other issue I had is the bouch ruining the trousers. The friction with the trousers ruined some North Face pants and I see it left tracks on all the Arc'teryx trousers as well. Because of this I avoid using it also whole mountaineering.
It is good, functional but it comes with limitations. Based on case scenarios I will most probably keep using it but, I am mindful about the limitations.
The Insta360 X3 camera? It still looks good. I bought a plastic frame from AliExpress but I still have to test it. I aim to get less scratches on the body. The camera is sturdy enough and usually I don't worry about plastic scratches. If I don't drop it, will not crack. Scratches are not an issue. For the screen I use tempered glass (I had to replace it twice so far). For the lenses I use the lens guards sold by Insta360. I had to replace them three times so far. They don't have glare and overall do a great job. They are worth the money. The lens guards for insta360 1inch 360 module produce both glare and image reflections. Not good. I use that without lens guards and it shows. I'm amazed it still didn't get any scratches. But, my go to now is the X3. I no longer use the 1inch 360 module of the one rs.
For the X3 I also have the remote from insta360. Very handy. I tried both the backpack and the climbing mounts. So far, I think the backpack mount produces better results but I still have to try more the climbing mount.
      I hope this helps!

Sir, what kind of mount is that for the 360 cam? Can you tell me

    • @JetSetYourself

This is the Insta360 backpack mount. It comes with the backpack strap and a short, thin, fixed length carbon fibre invisible stick.
