Personally I’ve been running the dropper post that came with my ibis Ripmo. But I’ve saved this video for the future so that I can replace it when my current one fails. Again which is why I appreciate your details in the video. In my mountain bike community I list the dropper post in my top five innovations of the 21st Century. Along with 29 inch wheels, a 1 x drivetrain, and disc brakes.
Great information, excellent descriptions! Thank you for the technical details, as a fellow Ibis rider I love the experiences that you have shared. See you out there on the trails.
Just ordered a Loam dropper from the link in the description. The Bike Yoke on my Ripmo AF crapped out after a year. Then I installed a pricy Kashima Fox Transfer post, which started acting up after only a few rides. I fought with the Fox for a year, so I think it's time for a nice smooth operating PNW. I already have a PNW on my fat bike. Idk how pnw does it, but their posts are the best, have the best warranty, and are cheaper than the other leading brands.
I do not, new to mountain biking. I have a hard tail and do mostly cross country riding, lots and lots of climbing and minimal technical stuff currently. I never even knew this WAS a thing that I COULD need 😂😂😂
Trying my first dropper this season! I picked the PNW Pine.because of the companies vision and the great reviews! So far I am enjoying the option to lower the post on steeper and technical sections of trail. With my limited experience with droppers I hesitate to say PNW's are the best however, it works so well that I can't imagine anything would work better. Great videos and keep on keeping on.
Great informative video! I wasn’t aware of all the dimensions you need to be cognizant of while picking one out and installing them. When I decided to buy a new bike (Rocky Mountain Instinct 😁) getting one with a dropper post was a must have. I use it all the time now. I have a friend who is trying to get comfortable using one. Do you have any videos or tips on using one on the trail? Thx for sharing!
Funny, I've got a PNW post and loam lever right here on my desk to go on my Delano Peak. The travel adjustment feature is great. I have a bike that I needed about a 140mm of travel when I included seat stack height. 150mm was too long, 125mm too short. With the adjustable travel of the PNW post, I was able to get the most travel possible with my seat/frame combo.
PNW All the way! I run a 170mm loan and I could not ever dream of using any other brand. They support nice as well as being as green as can be. Great choice and great video!
I’ve got a decent dropper with a crummy lever on my fat bike, and a Fox Transfer with a Race Face lever on my Karate Monkey. I agree with you about the lever… get a good one!
Thanks for the detailed info! Yes, I can't imagine riding without a dropper now. I love PNW, but have recently had good experiences with Tranz X (they came stock on my hardtail). Still prefer the Loam Lever though. Also, I think wireless droppers are the way of the future. I'm not sold on the idea of wireless shifting, but I think wireless droppers would make installation/cleaning SO much easier! The price just needs to come down...
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how long it takes for the wireless stuff to become more accessible financially. PNW is definitely killing it with their droppers and lever s.
Nice video. but sadly, when you run that dropper insertion on Ripmo or Ripley bikes, when you use most (not even all) of your rear travel suspension, the wheel will rub the seat... please be aware of this so you dont mess your setup. just a heads up ;)
I've run a dropper for quite awhile now. Six years? (damn... time flies...). I don't really have a "favorite" per se as they all seem to work fairly well. Right now, I have two - a Bike Yoke that came with my Spot Ryve - and a Reverb AXS that I bought to swap between my Megatower and Chameleon. Honestly, I've wondered why Steve doesn't use AXS since he swaps parts between frames so often.
Was thinking about a Wolf Tooth Light Action remote for my Yeti--had surgery on my left wrist/thumb and thought the light action would work--does PNW have a light action model?

I would agree with that 🙌
Great info!! I just bougth a PNW dropper , Love it!!!
Excellent video on one of the best components for mountain biking. Side note, the new hair style is great! Keep up the good work

Best video I've seen on the topic. Really well done! Props to ibis for having enough insertion for a 200mm dropper on a size small.

It's so nice to be able to adjust travel.

Yeah, they've got a good thing going.

Yeah, what a difference!
Hope they have some good ones at the Sedona MTB Festival, and that we see you and Steve there! Getting excited…
Great job with the video! PNW products rock for sure! And the Ibis line allows for great choices to maximize the dropper options as well.
Great review. Thank you for all the input. Keep up the good work. You’ll have to do a new video on how to wear shorter hair in a helmet now. 😅
Ha, yeah. Whole new game!
Dropper posts are game changers.
💯 . No compromises, just full out attacking the trail non-stop.

I'll keep an eye out. I haven't had a problem yet and I use my Ripley travel up on every ride.

It's definitely something he's talked about using for all those loner frames he reviews.
It's nice how reliable truck receipt posts have become.

Hmm, I'm not sure. 🤔
For s sec. I thought it was Tina Fey
I love my pnw dropper!
I Really like PNW. I sit on a Coast dropper when riding the gravel bike. 🤷🏼♂️ I like weird 😀
