Given most of the GTA dev team is based in Britain, it feels more like a nod to mythology and tales, that have been in British history for a rather long time. There are multiple variations of dogs, like the infamous hell hound which can be found all over the world. However, majority of the tales involving an other wordly dog has been good rather than evil. In fact it has been long believed that when someone is in a time of need especially being lost in the woods, a dog will appear to either help guide them out or look for someone to guide them to their location if they are stuck/injured. In fact, I can give you two legit stories locked in British historical records of such encounters. The first one is of a man called John, who was walking through some woods to get to another location. Upon entering the woods he felt a presence near him, he could in fact hear it too. It was a dog, a large black dog which he couldn't see clear enough to tell its complete description, due to the dark black coat and it being night time in woods. He just knew it was around hearing it panting beside him staying right next to him as he walked through the woods. He said he felt calm and at ease around this dog, saying he didn't feel like it was a threat. He still wasn't comfortable enough to touch the dog as it walked beside him, but he found it rather comforting knowing it was there. Upon reaching the clearing and near his destination the dog disappeared. It wouldn't be until later when two convicts were given their last right, when one of them turned around about a night in the woods where they found John walking. Neither of them liked the man and were set to mug him, killing him being an option both would gladly take. However, upon seeing a large black dog beside the man, the pair of them decided to let him be. Fearing John would easily be overpowered, but the large dog looked menacing. The other story, is of a little girl who used to travel through a small stretch of woods to go from her nans house to her mums, on both occasions she traveled this route at dark, she was met by a dog. A dog who would stay right beside her and accompany her on her way. It's been shown time after time, of these strange dogs appearing to those in a time of danger. As guardians, they have also appeared to those who are lost. Rather strangely they appear more times with women and girls, than men and boys. Showing that this dog chooses the weaker people to protect. Of course the evil dog sighting have all come from the fact back in the day we didn't dig deep graves, so dogs would wait at grave yards to dig up people as they are scavengers. This gave them the connection to the dead, and being guardians of the underworld even seen with the ancient Egyptian. It is also why a lot of Muslims are afraid of dogs regardless of breed. It's a fascinating subject which I quickly skirted around, there are many more and for me it feels like a nod to this. Even more so with what the gta community is like with myths, cryptids such as big foot and more.
If I'm not mistaken there's a story involving a British mountain climber who got caught in a blizzard while attempting to summit Everest. He basically gives up his will to live until he "sees" or senses the presence of a dog that suddenly appears out of nowhere and helps to guide him back to base camp and even continues to encourage him along the way when he gets off course and thinks about giving up again. The dog suddenly vanishes mere steps away from the safety of a warm camp. I could be getting two stories mixed up as there are multiple accounts of friendly strangers suddenly appearing to help climbers in survival situations before vanishing; the phenomenon has a name too, third man syndrome. But I'm pretty sure one of those accounts involved a mysterious dog.
I think the dog is the "play god" dog and its spirit being bound to Dom after he plays god, crashing into the same tree in the "play god" picture. It was freed after Dom sewer-slided.
Here's a fun theory: What if this was Dom's dog, which either died in one of his stunts or its passing was the trigger for him to start doing them? And its spirit reaches out to Franklin to try and protect him, or help him through his grief? Lonely banker loses his dog he was very close with, and he spends all his money doing daredevil stunts to avoid facing his grief. The Maze Bank stunt pushed him further over the edge, pardon the pun.
Ive always interpeted the dog as some kind of angel, or benevolent entity. What is intresting though is ghost dogs leading someone to help you is quite a common story. Especially golden retrievers.
Fun fact, with the last 2 halloween events in online. Dom's ghost is one of several you can find, he stands at the bottom of the dam where he dom'd himself.
I like to think every time franklin swears when responding to the dog its him not even throwing them in there its just the sog swearing with excitement
For dom I feel like he wasted his money both on the extreme sports addiction and some regular drug addictions so he just un alived himself in 1 last stunt because that is the only real time he seemed afraid.
You missed one huge detail! They only character you can play the mission "The Last One" I think it's called with the sasquatch is Franklin and after the sasquatch takes off a mask and reveals it's human it actually starts barking just like the dog! Which makes you wonder if it is human or an alien or something..
Remember the sasquatch guy quotes the dialog from the Sasquatch in RDR UNDEAD . My theory is Rdr1 Rdr2 are TRUE events written in a book by Jack Marston aka J. Marston. Undead Nightmare the game also is a BOOK by J Marston, but fictional since Jack kills Ross turning the events into a book alleviates him for going down in real life for the murders etc. Jack said he wanted to be a writer, it makes too much sense to just be coincidence as alot of people say it is. The sasquatch guy is cosplaying the Sasquatch from Undead Nightmare, he's like a freak fan of the series. That's why his quotes are exactly what the Sasquatch told John Marston about being the last of his kind, same thing was said to Franklin. The dog may be Rufus, or Arthur Morgan. "Arthur's pass" Los Santos may be the exact area geographically where Arthur died. Like Rockstar probably had the script or character plan for Arthur for YEARS. Just like in movies scripts get passed around for years before some movies are ever made. ALL Rockstar games are linked in my opinion. Like Ed Low, and Enmand Lowry

The link to the website about playing god shouldnt be ignored, playing god, thinking your invincible, only to learn the hard way that you're not invincible, like what happened to the family in the website pictured they pay the price (prolly for overspeeding). Dom here on the other hand, is a great candidate for someone thinking that theyre invincible, after all he just wants to show that his stunts is possible and easy to do, he plays god, and then pays the price when trying to jump without a parachute
what if the dog belonged to dom which he somehow got killed and it feels compelled to continue to try and help dom despite being such a dangerous asshole? i know it's unlikely and most probably just a lassie easter egg but it makes you think
I guessed it's kinda creepy considered that red redemption universe clearly take place in the same universe as that of gta,. manhunts, and bully and various other games rockstar have been involved in. Taking place in same universe so a place called Arthur pass on a mountain is inherently creepy considered implications of it being a final resting place of Arthur Morgan and apparently numerous other people have also lost their lives there so the fact that dom survived a near death experience in a place filled with people dying in horrifying way it's just a death omen for dom that he is about to died him surviving just for to do whole thing again but in various other places until he died at a dams.
The dog may be a form of guardian (wether you believe them to be an angel or not is up to you) and they have either been assigned to Dom or has attached to Dom and now feel obligated to try and save Dom but is unable to directly interact with Dom themself
Genuinely one of the most unsettling encounters in GTA V and in a Rockstar game, due to the number of questions you have afterwards. At this point wondering if the dog is a guardian angel or a not is irrelevant; how can it communicate with humans, how can it communicate with Franklin and why, and why can Franklin understand it? Why does it disappear quickly during each meeting and why did it disappear for good after Dom died? Was it ever more than a mental image projected to Franklin or was it real, and if it is why can no one else see it or even sense it? Why does the dog care for Dom but only up to a certain point? See? Unsettling as fck.
I find it interesting Dom's reaction both times to hearing Franklin mention the dog is in annoyance/anger. It's not a typical reaction you'd expect if he didn't know anything about the dog.
the dog does fit the bill for some interpretations of guardian angels. even though they're supposed to be god's servants, they lack free will, and are ordered to protect the silly mortals who keep making the same silly mistakes over and over again, so angels at some point got fed up with mortals' shenanigans, but continue to do their job because they can't help it, they would only protect us because they are, as the Ghost Dog puts it, "made this way". idk, it's funny to think Dom has a dog as a guardian angel
The dog saying that it's going to use its take its talents elsewhere definitely feels it like it saying "fuck this guy, I've got someone better to protect." 😂 I've come to conclude that the dog is indeed an angel of some sort sent by a diety similar to God to protect Dom. Of course, otherworldly beings can not directly intervene in the lives of those they're set to protect, so that's where Franklin comes. Perhaps Franklin was meant to convince him that he could do so much better, but his ego got the better of him, he plummeted to his death, and the dog no longer was tied to this asshole who was beyond saving at that point.
I did this strangers and freaks mission right after the mission where franklin steals the car off a movie set, and as a result I got franklin to skydive in a white tuxedo.
I like the idea of a guardian angel growing tried of looking over a human who's just so reckless with his life that the angel just becomes almost completely apathetic to whatever may happen to him. Sounds like it could be a plot to a movie lol.
I think the "move better suited to his tallents" could refer to any of the '[adjective] Bud' series of movies starring a golden retriever who can, or can't talk depending on the installment
Glad that you have started doing gta, i started watching your content 2020-2021 or something when you where doing a lot of Rdr2. Hope to see a lot more of this🙏🏻
I think a funny explanation is that dog was the one who died in the car crash and then Dom just happened to be the closest guy near the dog who needed a guardian angel at the time so the dog was assigned to Dom But after being his angel for so long even the dog stopped caring for Dom
Yeah Dom definitely sounds like a guy that had a lot of help from his guardian angel dog that he constantly took for granted. He probably survived so many stunts, barely got seriously hurt when he could've, and so he just continued doing those stunts thinking he was indestructible until finally the dog just had enough and left when Dom needed it most. Tbh, how much you want to bet that the dog DID appear several times in front of Dom, but Dom constantly ignored it or forgot about it? This guardian angel needs to be assigned to someone else.
If you go somewhere by the shoreline, I think at Sandy Shores you can see that dog and if you go in Michael’s house, you can see pictures of them with it
I like to think the dog is based on the movie Far from Home Adventure of Yellow Dog [spoiler] about a labrador who got lost in the woods with his master. When they were about to be rescued by helicopter the dog fell into the rapids below and they all thought the dog has died...
If your channel has taught me anything it's that I really didn't flesh out my GTAV time as much as I thought i did. Also that people had to create the "play god" and Leonora crime scene pictures and that can't be 100% healthy

@@pugachevskobra5636Third man syndrome is so chilling, being supernatural or just a tactic of our brain for survival I find it fascinating
Babe wake up. New Fizhy video dropped
FR
*Yawns* ughhh, I’m up… I’m up🥱
Who are you?! And how did you get in my house?!?
Ive always interpeted the dog as some kind of angel, or benevolent entity.
What is intresting though is ghost dogs leading someone to help you is quite a common story. Especially golden retrievers.
Could you give some examples
Fun fact, with the last 2 halloween events in online.
Dom's ghost is one of several you can find, he stands at the bottom of the dam where he dom'd himself.
I think the dog could be the dog we see in Michael's house
I like to think every time franklin swears when responding to the dog its him not even throwing them in there its just the sog swearing with excitement
For dom I feel like he wasted his money both on the extreme sports addiction and some regular drug addictions so he just un alived himself in 1 last stunt because that is the only real time he seemed afraid.
love these mystery videos bro. you are the perfect channel for videogame urban legends etc
Arthurs pass trail you think it's a rdr2 easter egg just as the book😅
Probably just a coincidence seeing as rdr2 released 3 years later
@@unoriginalperson72actually five years, so you’re more right
I to this day am still confused on this dog. Though I think lowly of the dog because he introduced me to Dom and I fucking hated those missions
Thanks for these videos man, I’ve always loved GTA so I REALLY love these videos!!! ❤
I honestly wish GTA Online took place sometime after story mode so we don't got to get calls from Dom since you know he commited suicide
I thought the newer heists took place after story mode since Franklin is a ceo now and Trevor is still alive
@@mrbootystealer5712 yes any update after the gunrunner update takes place after the story but Dom still exists despite that point it's sort of an inconsistency in terms of the word
@@claiminghawk well online mode sucks so I don't really consider online canon in my mind anyway lol
@@mrbootystealer5712 honestly, I didn't start playing GTA Online until the pandemic I played it a lot but after a while, GTA Online just felt like a grind so I stopped playing. tho for shits and giggles, I did play GTA Online on PC just to see about the talk of modder and shit kinda disappointing they didn't update GTA Online on PC to the Next gen version tho but whatever
The timeline for GTA Online is all over the place. Canon or not, anything that happens in it probably doesn't necessarily happen at the time you see it happen, as everyone plays the events in different orders to everyone else.
I've never heard of this before but it must be good if Fizhy is covering it :D
That's a yellow lab, not a golden retriever.
This “ghost dog” might be a past dog of Franklin’s, having the spirit of one of Dom’s dog. Although he doesn’t have the recollection of any dog, it just might be.
Imagine jason from gta6 sees the dog and safes franklin, and yeah. I enjoyed it, thank you so much for making thouse videos, i love the rdr gta 4&5 videos. Well done fizhy
Maybe Dom is the bit in the car crash and survived and that is why the dog is Atchison to him
what if the dog belonged to dom which he somehow got killed and it feels compelled to continue to try and help dom despite being such a dangerous asshole? i know it's unlikely and most probably just a lassie easter egg but it makes you think
Please keep doing these Rockstar lore videos. I love them so much 😊 lol
i mean, the place being Arthur's Pass already is kinda creepy.
I have always believed that it is a reference to the film "My Ghost Dog" by John Putch (1997) Good video.
The ghost dog? Reminds me of Zero from Nightmare before Christmas
It's me

Nostalgia or what 👍🏼👌🏼 great video 👍🏼
I'm in love with your channel, can you please explore the mysteries of gta san andreas and other older gtas
As and when I get to properly playing through them, I certainly shall.
@@Fizhy Happy to hear it ^^
I find it interesting Dom's reaction both times to hearing Franklin mention the dog is in annoyance/anger. It's not a typical reaction you'd expect if he didn't know anything about the dog.
I agree with you I think that the guardian angel dog got tired of protecting that guy Love the video ❤👍
I love the mood you set in these videos, ngl, you made me want to open any GTA right now and do a myth hunting again like the good old times.
the dog does fit the bill for some interpretations of guardian angels. even though they're supposed to be god's servants, they lack free will, and are ordered to protect the silly mortals who keep making the same silly mistakes over and over again, so angels at some point got fed up with mortals' shenanigans, but continue to do their job because they can't help it, they would only protect us because they are, as the Ghost Dog puts it, "made this way". idk, it's funny to think Dom has a dog as a guardian angel
The dog saying that it's going to use its take its talents elsewhere definitely feels it like it saying "fuck this guy, I've got someone better to protect." 😂
I've come to conclude that the dog is indeed an angel of some sort sent by a diety similar to God to protect Dom.
Excellent quandary into the unexplained. Extremely good video. I laughed, and I wondered....
The dog is Dom's guardian dog angel.
Who decided “nah this guy is an ass ima let him die”
sorry I need to cancel, Fizhy dropped another banger
Perfect length for getting ready for whatever it is you had planned, don't cancel on my behalf
@@FizhyI absolutely love these videos, cheers!!
The ghost dog is from that picture on the website the family had the car crash
Your videos are consistently perfect. Another great release my British friend
13:30 leave it to rockstar to still squeeze in an incest joke in the middle of showing a shock image
Excellent video!
I like the idea of a guardian angel growing tried of looking over a human who's just so reckless with his life that the angel just becomes almost completely apathetic to whatever may happen to him. Sounds like it could be a plot to a movie lol.
there is a dog bark in one of the movies and you didn't touch on that!?!?
He doesn't really give a shit but he's made this way
@My_pfp_beats_all_dog_breeds.it’s what the dog says in the first mission
@My_pfp_beats_all_dog_breeds. I meant the first mission of the dom sidequests not online
I know the dog is a reference to lassie, but I like to think Franklin can just talk to animals
I hope in 6 they have like stories of that dog seemingly trying to help exploited child actors in a tv show it was in or something
I think the "move better suited to his tallents" could refer to any of the '[adjective] Bud' series of movies starring a golden retriever who can, or can't talk depending on the installment
Hey Fizhy, i hope youre doing good. Thank you for the videos
Glad that you have started doing gta, i started watching your content 2020-2021 or something when you where doing a lot of Rdr2. Hope to see a lot more of this🙏🏻
I think a funny explanation is that dog was the one who died in the car crash and then Dom just happened to be the closest guy near the dog who needed a guardian angel at the time so the dog was assigned to Dom
But after being his angel for so long even the dog stopped caring for Dom
There are pictures of a similar dog in Michaels house and i think people have drawn some possible connections there but idk
If you go somewhere by the shoreline, I think at Sandy Shores you can see that dog and if you go in Michael’s house, you can see pictures of them with it
If you spell dog backwards you get the name Dom.
Gom 😮
The Dog is obviously a higher being.
It's pretty clearly a representation of Franklin's inner conscience and sense of morality. He helps even though he doesn't want to.
14:47 probably got casted in the in-game movie ‘Man Eats Dog’
gta v has underrated lore
I like to think the dog is based on the movie Far from Home Adventure of Yellow Dog [spoiler] about a labrador who got lost in the woods with his master. When they were about to be rescued by helicopter the dog fell into the rapids below and they all thought the dog has died...
The crazy thing is Dom can be seen as one of the last ghosts in the ghosts exposed quest for halloween in gta online at the same Spot where he died
Rdr has the strange man
Gta has the strange dog
You should cover Mörkö in the game INFRA! Definitely mot a well-known topic but it's sort of interesting.
If your channel has taught me anything it's that I really didn't flesh out my GTAV time as much as I thought i did.
Also that people had to create the "play god" and Leonora crime scene pictures and that can't be 100% healthy
10:25 hurtled into too shallow water, hit the bottom, bust his head open, probably died instantly
That play God picture.. weird to see a little kid in GTA
I can't believe I've been watching icebergs, speedruns, and deep dives about this game and I've never heard of this dog.
1:39 No one got the Lassie satire reference.
I did
