I don't normaly say stuff like this, but Draper was one of a kind. He revolutionized choir directing and there will never be another O'landa.

I totally agree! I miss him dearly, O'landa was always humble and nice when I saw him at GMWA every year.

The Mississippi Mass Choir had an animated director, too in the 90s.

I have been in my church choir since I was 15 years old, thanks to my God-Mother. I REALLY ENJOY SINGING! Our Minister of Music taught us this song in 2017 and I have loved it ever since. I've never seen Ricky Dillard perform nor have I seen any of his videos, so I cannot compare Mr. Dillard to Mr. Draper. What I do know is, I equally enjoy watching him direct this choir. I had to get used to his animation, but I understand now that he was overjoyed in what he did. Just watching the smile on his face is priceless. I pulled this song up because I needed to hear it, again. Thank you Mr. Draper for sharing, may you continue to Rest in Peace my friend.

As you can see in O'landa, the key of being a great director is not just your movements but in your communication to the choir and the musicians!!! Sometimes as the director, you have to act a fool (get ugly with it, is what I mean) to get what you want from the choir and musicians.

@hotpapa225 Remember Jesus with the woman at the well. He already knew about her. The apostles wondered why He was talking to her. Jesus wanted her heart. After ministering to her, she became an evangelist. HALLELUJAH! Praise God for O'landa Draper! I truly miss him. He was an awesome individual. God bless you all!

The male version of the late Dr Mattie Moss Clark!!.. this man did as she did.. had choirs produce notes or chords that were unheard of to the human ear.. or TOTALLY UNEXPECTED at the WEIRDEST shake of his hand.. or jerk of his body.. thats what happens when god is ALL OVER you!!!

No offence intended, but what does his sexual orientation have to do with "the price of tea in China"...or the anointing that was obviously upon his life. I think people should stop digging for mess in other people's lives and work out their own soul's salvation, with fear and trembling!!

I've heard better from them just loud clowning on this one...
No Go well they aren't singing no more so there you go
