    Thanks for the sulphate and bicarbonate info. It really should be on the home brew station page as most applications seem to use them. I enquires about getting the stats (I didn’t realise there was a buried page to dig through) and they wanted to charge $250 for the test

    Cheers Gash - I've found the water pH calculater to be pretty spot on. Have used it for about 4-5 brews. Also, the brewfather interface scales pretty well with a higher resolution display. Lot less scrolling.

      You just reminded me I had it zoomed in I think, from when I was mucking around with a while back...

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  4 роки тому

      I'm sure I'd zoomed in for easier video watching, but yes it made scrolling too much

      Just checked yes I had, but you know what I find too small the little abv/OG/FG etc diagram its very tiny at 100%, I now remember that was one of the reasons I'd zoomed in

    Would anyone know or make a good guess to the profile of rain water off a colourbond roof would be in country New South Wales?
    I need to understand water profiles more.....
    I know my pale ales taste better using tap water but my lagers taste better using rain water from our 23kl tank.

    why does the source water pH make no difference to the calculated mash pH?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  Рік тому +1

      I can't say I know the inner workings of brewfather, but my best guess would be that the pH the program actually uses is determined from the salt content you enter in the water profile rather than just the pH measurement. Cheers!

    the water board units were in mg/l but the BF was in ppm, these must be different?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  2 роки тому +2

      They are exactly the same. 1 mg/L = 1 parts per million (ppm).

  • @andyb8797
    @andyb8797 3 роки тому

    Gash, struggling with BF, think this must be to do with my HCO3 level. Report shows HCO3 at 351, CACO3 at 350. This is higher than most recipes in BF. Have i got this wrong? Can you reduce HCO3? Just starting out with water

    Hi Gash, Once I add my water profile to a recipe, will this adjust the misc additions in the recipe or do I need to work this out?

  • @QBixFPV
    @QBixFPV 4 роки тому +1

    Does it matter that the units were different between the water report, in mg/l to Brewfather, in ppm? Im trying yo set mine up in the uk and have the same problem.

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  4 роки тому +3

      Milligrams per litre is the same as parts per million. Milligram is 1000 in a gram, litre is 1000 gram. So 1,000,000 or parts per million. . For a that make sense? Lol
