Stacey was a legend backing that truck up like a gun. Go the girls! If it doesn’t rain it pours on this one. Great Ep for when just doesn’t go as planned!
Your camera crew are the best going around. Great footage. I'm so pissed off with Toyota and their friggin' badly designed alternator. They've had more than enough time to rectify it. This shows what a dangerous outcome could result on a solo desert trip. Patrol driver from Perth
You had lots of fun ! Funny, since I stopped following others and planning and leading my own trips I haven't had a problem ... just fun and relaxing in our Aussie nature, coastal islands and great beaches ! Figure that one out. :)
Just got to this vid. I love how Stace grabs the goPro so we can see even more angles of the mess the 76 was stuck in. I really appreciate that she was thinking that way for us viewers. Sad about the 76 tho. (merry xmas / happy new year all).
“It looks like the big girl, unfortunately, for the first time ever is going to end up on a tow truck”... what about when the diff went on the Tanami Track? Sealed alternator on the 76 or new 79?
I've seen this alternator issue on a few other video's, the ultimate fix is a fully sealed unit from a company called Rapid Power, not cheap but if you're running in remote areas through bog holes, it will solve the problem. Personally I think the alternator location on the 70 series is pretty poor form a company that has built it's name on reliability.
Hey Matt, if you can get the new 79 anything as good as what the 76 does that thing will be awesome because the 76 is just music to my ears. Sounds absolutely All Time !!!!!!
This is the main reason why you would go for a aftermarket 100% sealed alternator, especially on the 70’s. Once your alternators clogged with mud, you’re done for.
Leave the techno bs for the show ponies in the Big 4 caravan parks. If you can’t turn on your lockers the instant you need them because you don’t have a whole “system” turned on, then it is there for wank value only. Put a hard wired switch back in. Simple, reliable and there the second you need it.
Dude, Toyotas always throw the engine light and fault code when you disconnmect the battery even for minor maintenance. They generally clear anywhere from a couple of hours to sometimes 2 to 3 days after reconnection and resuming normal driving. Its perfectly normal and shouldnt of needed to be towed unless the fault code threw a direct code pointing at something completely different.
Svenson Lord I’m on my 7th cruiser and haven’t experienced the engine light or fault codes after disconnecting the batteries. All HJ HZJ or HDJ though so haven’t had to worry about all those electric issues. They’re too fussy these days.
Oh yea!! nice passenger ya have there mate! yall did this trip like we do it here in the USA, nice lookin women, some mud, some guns, boats and a lot of beer!! cheers mate !! good trip
I’ll have a chat to the distributor & see what he can do. The company is in Brissy so local too. They are Rapid Power. Let me know if you are interested Brooksy

You should invest in a sealed water-cooled alternator for both the cruisers 👌
Good stuff guys, keep up the travels, looking forward to seeing the 79 back on the tracks!!!
Bring Donny and Stace on more episodes and bring the toys on more episodes to please

Great ep matty. Gotta do more of these. Toy hauler behind the new 79 perhaps 😉 Cheers
You may want to look at installing the BMW sealed alternator. Over here in the USA they are about $300. They work a treat!
Carry a can of contact cleaner in your kit. It's the duct tape of electrical.
