I kinda got the impression from Sam's companion quest that Lillian didn't care much for the family life. Putting ranger life over hear family. And I can't help but feel it's more for the adventure than duty. And I understand that she may not have wanted to be a mother at that point in her life. If she at least visited her family once in a blue moon, maybe that might be different. We never really got a full picture of everything between her and Sam, but I can't help but not like her.
