What a brilliant insight you’ve provided. What about this as an idea though: I feel like if Sean were a better fighter, it would greatly increase his chance of winning fights. I know it’s kind of an unorthodox idea, but hear me out. If you look at the current and former champions in the UFC, they tend to be better fighters than the opponents they face. In fact, not only do they seem to be better fighters, they seem to win most of the fights they have against fighters who are not as good as them. Do you think the two might be connected? Sorry to bombard you with questions. It’s just so rare that I get to pick the brain of a master strategist like yourself.

I feel if O'Malley were a better fighter he would have recognised how rocked his opponent was and just rushed him to close it out then and there. He still won so props to him but he's lucky that Kashakyan didn't recover in the time he gave him.
Yes, Sean has improved a lot since this fight. But, for those that don’t know, he had a bad concussion the weeks going into this and was throwing up in the middle of the night. Are you saying he has the same motive because he's a tall fighter? You obviously don't know enough about the fight game to even make a real argument; trying to attribute a concussion to cutting weight. Though it is possible, he would have to rapidly cut weight before and during weigh-ins for that to be possible. Just hating without good reason, I see.

If anything his opponent needs more cardio. You can just tell when a guy is getting tired but O'Malley looked composed
Or a top Thai fighter. His legs are like straws but I dont see anyone destorying them. Any good thai fighter would just play defensve all game long and kick the same spot on his leg till sean is hopping on one leg and I dont think that would take verry long lol.
well when you check a kick you are blocking with the thickest part of your tibia, and you are checking it at their weakest (lower portion of the tibia).
He doesn't need to worry about leg kicks. He is so quick with his legs and hands that if you for that he could easily counter and hook something in. He does need to work on his clinch, because his wrestling will never be top tier. He's not built for wrestling. He needs to basically watch a lot of Dominick Cruz, Diaz brothers, and Daniel Cormier tape to see things that people can counter that he does and see things that he can perfect. A lot of talent here.
I still remember when Chris Weidman checked Anderson Silva's kick and his tibia broke in half lol. Playing the kicking leg game is for very long fights, they won't hurt your opponent until late in the 2nd or 3rd round...and they can terribly backire e.g Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman. Kicks are better served in the chin/neck, liver, or right kidney. Setting up your opponent for foot sweeps even if you don't intend to go to the ground with them is more effective than kicking their quadriceps.
Creative maybe, but way to sloppy. Flashy moves looks good, but the technique of the moves was not the best tbh! But he is young, we will see in the future ;)

Refinement seems like a bit of an understatement though, he ate loads of clean shots that he had no reason to take just because he's standing with his hands down.
@mre1995 You clearly don't understand the nuances of fighting. Blocking a punch or a kick with 4 ounce gloves will rattle your brain. Do you know how to avoid taking hits? You avoid taking hits by completely avoiding the hits... you would think that would be obvious. Sean O'Malley did have his hands up, just not in a typical boxing guard - he would extend his arms out to catch incoming shots and avoid them with his foot work. Keeping your hands to your side or down helps defend against takedowns. Keeping your hands up wouldn't allow you to move in certain ways. Sean O'Malley clearly knows how to fight. You clearly don't know how to fight. What about Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson? What about Michael "Venom" Page? I don't think you understand because you are critiquing a fight from the safety of your computer chair. It's a fight... sometimes you get hit. Why don't you give advice to the fighter that was KO'd?
Dude watch the fight and see how many clean shots he takes that he has no reason too, then tell me that shit's gonna work against top level opponents. Maybe you should think about the competition he'll be up against next, instead of the success he's had against low level opponents. I don't see why you would bring up Wonderboy and MVP either, Wonderboy has impeccable defence and MVP's never fought a top level opponent in his life so until he does you can't really judge his skills to the full extent.
O'Malley style of fighting is really cool, showing off his agility and moving fast all the time, jumping etc. I also love the fact that he's so skinny looking and still a great fighter.

With your logic every punch is a one punch knockout. What if someone had someone mounted and punched him 10 times in a row and the last punch knocked him out, is that still considered a one punch knockout? I mean it was the last punch that knocked him out? There was a culmination of punches to the head in this fight, you low T beta casual.
instead of me trying to explain to you what a one punch knock out is, i invite you to do a little research. The power of the ethernet. amazing, isn't it?
If you’re a really good striker, you can kinda get away with having your hands down (in MMA at least). Especially if you have a reach advantage. It’s harder to see the punches coming from the hip and makes it more difficult for your opponent to gauge the distance they can be hit from. Helps with takedown defense as well.
Sean really need to work on his defense and power. His elusive style is already dangerous, but the top guys in his division as of now would dismantle him. If he can get better at avoiding big shots he may be a future contender for sure!
He knew exactly how hurt his opponent was at the end but chose to make a highlight reel show out of it. He was literally putting one a calculated show at the end. Not to mention, his ability to know where the opponent is going to be next, evident by the perfectly timed knees.

Hisham Qureshi he is sloppy and someone needs to shut him up
One punch? LOL, I don't think you know how to count.
Dax Dessy apparently, you dont know what a one punch knock out is.
Bro this ain't how I remember masvidal vs askren going down
Sean O'Malley is the man! Can't wait to see him finally get to fight again!
Big deal he beat a Coach Edmond fighter.

That young man has pure, natural, animal, instinctual, qualities of a warrior.
Nice work!
Why Sean look like an off brand Conor Mcgregor
Gotta keep the fire lit

Nigga look like a off brand of an offbrand
Me: can we get a McGregor
Mom: we got a McGregor at home
McGregor at home:
Dude didnt have his hands up the whole time. I hope sugar works hard to get better.
Guy sounds 14
It's a different style of fighting, u needa stfu lol
Just look at his UA-cam
It's called baiting. Go watch some Anderson fights
If you’re a really good striker, you can kinda get away with having your hands down (in MMA at least). Especially if you have a reach advantage. It’s harder to see the punches coming from the hip and makes it more difficult for your opponent to gauge the distance they can be hit from. Helps with takedown defense as well.
It will be HIS SHOW for awhile, then someone always comes along. What athletes.
Sean really need to work on his defense and power. His elusive style is already dangerous, but the top guys in his division as of now would dismantle him. If he can get better at avoiding big shots he may be a future contender for sure!

"When he gets on top of guys, he'll pound you out!". XDD
Shaun I love your style off fighting and IV been a fan from when u had Ur first fight, all the best from Dublin Ireland bro💚💚💚💚💚
Damn Garfunkel really going hard
Omalley looks like SKREECH from Saved by the Bell 😂 but he got mean right hand!!!
He knew exactly how hurt his opponent was at the end but chose to make a highlight reel show out of it. He was literally putting one a calculated show at the end.
Not to mention, his ability to know where the opponent is going to be next, evident by the perfectly timed knees.
Malley looks like the custom character someone has made as a joke when playing online UFC
Bro 😂😂
