    Hey a sophomore marcher in baritone here. I’m not the best at my instrument but with such a small low-brass section and me being the only one who’s played baritone a full year this was quite helpful so thanks man. I’m still Learning my instrument but I want to work to be better for my section and band and this really helps me to understand the instrument more.

    Do all marching baritones have bad valves? All the ones at my school have issues. We have 4 players but there is almost always at least one instrument out for repair (luckily we have a few extra)

      It depends on which company supplied it. Most baritones are supplied by Yamaha and do usually have problems. I’ve personally never had a major issue for the brand, but I heard from many that have. King is another, but I can’t say if that brand has issues because I’ve never played a King Baritone.

      @@thatoutdoorguy271 not really, my school uses almost all king euphoniums, baritones, and sousaphones. The concert horns even in poor conditions have good valves and little constriction even in the fourth valves. The marching horns are the same way. The sousas are a little hit or miss but generally are great quality. Sousas are 2350s, baritones are 1124s and 1129s, Concert euphoniums are 2280s all of these horns have buttery smooth valves.

      Most of the valve problems our baritones have are from people pressing them wrong and the valves get bent because of it. But if you press them correctly and oil them regularly they will be fine.

      It depends on the age of the instrument and how well they're taken care of. Yamaha's marching baritones are top tier, but any instrument that isn't well maintained is going to have issues. Unfortunately, students can be pretty hard on instruments, especially at the high school level.

    Idk but instead of trombone(they said they don't really march with those much anymore) they gave me a baritone and it hurts my hand

    Is that model lighter than one with a less tighter wrap?

    • @julianparedes4602
      @julianparedes4602  Рік тому +1

      I wouldn’t say tighter, but narrower. Weight isn’t a problem as long as you build the arm strength and stamina

    Does anyone have any fingering techniques for euphonium like the big trumpet one? I play trombone for concert band and am learning euphonium for marching band and my Valve keeps getting stuck

    • @Jupiter-el2mp
      @Jupiter-el2mp 5 місяців тому

      That most likely has nothing to do with your technique. Try using valve oil on the valve or all the valves and press the valves down repeatedly to get it in there. Don't use too much or it'll become more stuck. If it stays stuck, ask the band director for help. Hope this works!❤
