The first season was kinda slow paced but overall yeah it ended incredibly well which I can't say about other legendary shows like GoT or Lost which ended terribly.
I agree about Supernatural. It wasn't just the house on fire, it was a woman being drag up the walls to the ceiling by seemingly nothing, with a massive abdomen wound and fire suddenly appearing and expanding out from her as if she were the source of it. Weird as hell.
Breaking Bad is WAY more superior than Lost as a whole, but that first scene with Jack waking up in the bamboo forest is not only thrilling as hell, but maybe the most instantly recognized opening scene to any tv series ever.
Star Trek Deep Space Nine episode Emissary starting with the Battle of Wolf 359 and seeing him lose his wife was a awesomely emotional start to the series
I knew Better Call Saul would be on the list.... but what I found to be the instant hook was actually the courtroom scene.... the one where he is defending the teenagers.... who had sex with a decapitated head from a morgue. The silence in the scene of everyone waiting, Saul in the bathroom rehearsing, the unanswered question about what exactly did the teenager do until it is finally revealed through the district attorney playing the appalling tape without uttering a single word. It was a pretty good opener.
@@collegebro85 7 and 8 weren't fantastic. I love the show more than what's probably considered healthy and I honestly can't say 7 and 8 were anything but poorly constructed and frustrating to watch.

If you just finished breaking bad and loved it. You have to watch better call saul. It is nearing breaking bad levels of greatness and in some ways its better.
@@erickr.5142 Nah, Lost was kind of a dissapointment. It was easily my favourite show back than until like the last 2-3 episodes. Instead of wraping it up nicely and connecting all the dots they decided the show needs even more confusion and obfuscation. The build up through years was epic I have to give that (and this differentiate it from other shows because now I just bingewatch but back then I had a good series on my mind for years, which made it familiar, expected, and watching it was a habit, almost like a ceremony) and I was overall happy how the story was driven forward. Actually I liked the seasons progressively more over the years and I was quite happy about the last one too except the end of it. (unlike GoT which got clearly worse in the last 2 season) I remember the last 2-3 episode left only a questions, and a big unsatisfying hole. It wasn't completelly terrible, but it was cheap and certeanly felt like it was forced. At the very end the story was steered to a weird "magical" direction which, lost it's curiosity, when it became obvious that the show won't bother with a rationally digestible explanation I grow to expect over the years. It all might be personal opinion though, I always thought they kind of botched the end :C
I can't tell you how happy I am that you had Justified on here. When I sell people on this show I tell them watch the first few minutes and you will want to watch the rest
VERY surprised to not see Battlestar Galactica 2003. The show actually got the green light to become a full blown season based on the strength of the 4 episode mini series. The key component of that series was the first episode and especially the opening which hooks you in instantly with Tricia Helfer and her single line of dialogue. Glad you mentioned LOST; just too bad it was all steadily downhill from there.
Probably the best opening TV scene I’ve seen was for “Monk.” I was so impressed by how much it revealed about the show in the first few minutes. The first line suggested an OCD, that Monk is worried he left the stove on, but then he makes all these impressive observations at a murder scene, even identifying the brand of cigarettes the killer used by smelling the curtains. It isn’t until after he leaves that we learn his name and that the police refer to him as “a living legend . . . if you could call that living.”
Wow, you went all the way back (what?) 6-7 years! I'm in awe of your deep knowledge of TV history. Few people realize television was only invented in the late 90's. I wish UA-cam had some sort of blocking mechanism. Their algorithm keeps your facile tripe on me.

With how poorly ended Game of Thrones was, I think so many people forget how amazing the opening scene was. I read the books so I knew what’d happen but it definitely confirm this was gonna do true justice to the books (well the first 3 at least)
Watch the scene in Breaking Bad where Walt and Jesse take Saul into the desert to scare him into breaking the deal he was making for Badger, so that Badger won't have to rat, and you hear Saul say "It wasn't me, it wasn't me, Ignacio did it, it was Ignacio", meaning of course Nacho has obviously done something to the cartel and Saul at the very least was involved with it, and then he says "Lalo didn't send you? Don Lalo? Oh thank god". Amazing writing how they took this piece of throw-away dialogue and put it into Better Call Saul, using those names that were briefly mentioned and turning them into such incredible characters that make up some of the entire heart of the prequel This is the backbone of what makes Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, and El Camino such fantastic entertainment.
Sorry, can't watch this. Seeing the opening episode of season one of Mr. Robot, and it's not here. Most gut retching WTF openings of a show I had ever seen. I heard about the series for some time, but only was exposed to it as a captive audience on a NYC to Dubai flight. Absolutely hooked. In my mid 50s it was my first binge watch experience. Binge watched it on the return trip too.
I like Z Nation opening. Being told what had happened to the world with different imagines and videos showing to vaccine trials on one of the main characters
Yes, and the way they let us think that one guy was going to be our main character, and then promptly killed him. And we see the packed school bus - yay, they're getting away. Nope!

Breaking bad, the walking dead, dexter,

Stranger Things
David Hopper walking dead for sure
