How about strength tests, so as to include more fowards. Either gym activities like bench press, or perhaps something like a scrum machine that can measure impact and power of a tackle.
It's a bit more complicated, I think. The speed is very important. As the old adage says: "the ball travels faster, than the man." The speed of the recycle and the speed and accuracy of the 1st pass are the 3 most important skills on a scrum half. More important than kicking, or running a support line. Fast recycle + fast & precise 1st pass can devastate any defensive line, and enable a team to gain consistent ground phase after phase, against a defensive line, that simply doesn't get enough time to reset. It's this front foot ball, that enables the All Blacks to exploit a crumbling defense after 3-4 phases of dominant forward carry + fast recycle.
Speed isn't more important than accuracy. If you're recycling the ball quickly and missing your target with your passes, your forward pack will need to be quicker to cover your inaccurate passes. That's unlikely to happen if your passes are accurate and consistent.
@@mereanaholmes3946 That’s why I literally wrote: “The speed of the recycle, and the speed and accuracy of the 1st pass are the 3 most important skills on a scrum half.” If your pass is inaccurate, it doesn’t help. passing of the torch for worlds best halfback
mdr la traduction d'Antoine c'est nimp
I enjoyed this, like a young kid challenging his Dad to an arm wrestle, and losing
Smith needs to be in the nfl if he wants to be throwing like that.. DuPont is one I a few generation player. I hope he stays injury free and we get to watch his unbelievable talent.
He's the got pass and the accuracy to do both.
@@mereanaholmes3946 which player? Btw your name is amazing! Ive never seen it before.
@@johnbyrne1258 Smith.
Dupont needs to work on accuracy but he has plenty of time to master that.
Smith is pretty much on his way out.
Thanks btw. I'm named after my grandmother.
@@mereanaholmes3946 agreed to a point but smith does a lot of low passing for forwards to make the hard yards and as DuPont throws that perfect level for either breaking tackles or bypassing players.
Who do you follow? I’m an Irish man love all the provinces but Munster stole my heart as a kid! Can’t wait to see the British & Irish lions in action.
@@johnbyrne1258 I'm from NZ and stopped following the ABs some time ago.
I do watch them on WC years cause I expect to see them choke.
I watched both games we lost to the Irish. Phenomenal games.
I watch more NFL these days. New Orlean Saints are my favorites. I've just recently learned the game.
Best number
France-New Zealand will prove it again but Dupont's the best
For how long lol Aaron Smith is the best in the world
Aaron Smith
Aaron my MVP outside of Springboks!!!!
What's happening next week?
Was not expecting Aaron’s voice
One of my goals in my rugby's career is to play togliere with antoine dupont
I'm not lying when I swy Cameron wright the reserve sharks scrummy probably has the most bullet pass I've ever seen
Smith threw it to win he didn't pass...
It went straight to the player.. So by all definition he ‘passed’ the ball to another player
@@cordlxze9559 "threw"
Must be Frenchmen in the house. Aaron smith all day
@@Stroy2024-d7d To bad the rugby world says otherwise.....dupont>smith
Smiths pass is way sweeter but I'm.not surprised Dupont won this one, for a proper pass, as he is a powerhouse physically.
dupond always said smith had the best pass
@@baptistebrigand5882 didn't disagree
I reckon they should both be using the same speedometer
Guys, using the same equipement isn't rocket science! Give it a go (however I expect that all episodes are already done).
The backhand pass would be the fastest imo
Smith the goat 🐐
Next I'd like to see the quickest 100m dash. Luis Reezammit vs Will Jordan.
Actually Braydon Ennor is the fastest player at the Crusaders.
@@Sulu-sw3zo That was my second option, not sure who's faster of the two.
there's nothing to aknowledge from these videos cuz it can't be fair : not the same equipment, not the same sensors, they don't perform under the same conditions so we can't compare. Plus, we could have made a better challenge with such players in my opinion
Stfu hater
mainly, its age thats wrong. smith is 34! Dupont is a kid @26.
@@nzfreeski we don't care about age 😂 dupont is the best player in the world at 26
Aron Smith 👌👑🏉
New Zealand always finds a way to win
Completely ridiculous. Obviously Antoine was better om average. Antoine is physically much stronger and built like a tank
Didn't you watch the video? Dupont admitted that Aaron Smith is still better at passing.
Which is the most important thing for a #9 to be good at...
Smith is the better distributor. You heard it from Dupont himself.
I thought the rule was for the ball to go to hand? That last pass of Smith's was dropped ... Does it still count?
Taking down the center low throws
Thought DuPont would be a lot better tbh, was significantly closer than I thought it would be
He might be the best player who is a scrumhalf in the world, but I don't think he is the best scrumhalf in the world. What makes his so good is his support lines and vision and skill in an open field, as well as is insanely good defensive ability. His passing is very good, but it isn't what he is known for.
@@magnuspeacock5857 hes the best player in the world even as a kiwi hes better then smith by a mile. Defends better, attacks better, kicks better only thing ill give smith is his pass but then again its not like Duponts is any worse.
@@sammartin3955 I have no doubt that Dupont is the better player, but Smith is better at being a scrumhalf. Slightly better passing and box kicking than Dupont anyway. Everything else Dupont has him beat.
@@magnuspeacock5857 Nah duponts a better kick has to use it much more in Europe too, only thing smith has is a better iq from age and experience and slightly better pass.
@@mitcholeary1526 Dupont has a better kick from hand, Smith has a better box kick.
Aron a même pas fais une une vrai passe alors que Dupont des deux mains il a dominer tout le long , pour moi Antoine supérieur
