My first impression upon encountering the chimera variant was nothing but sheer terror. 2 weeks later my friend has sent me an in-game character editor screenshot, and I realized that the creature I've met in the wild was not even the final form...
Barotrauma is in dire need of two things to really flesh out the world: 1. A way to make a fish tank that fish can't see you through on your ship 2. Crabs crawling along the walls, jumping onto your ship for a free ride
Right now I multipurpose my forward ocean exit as a "scoop". Fish get pulled by the sub's speed along it's hull to the door, where I open it to let them in, sealing them in the room. Its fun to watch them swim around, they're a good source of alien blood for laser turrets, and most importantly, I need an excuse to make my sub bigger.
Yeah there totally should be wall crabs. IMO they should be hostile and punch people who get close, but don't pursue them and don't attack submarine walls. That way they only would be a threat in caves or when the submarine is sunk on the ocean floor with big hull breaches. On the other hand, if you intentionally picked up crabs on your sub, enemies would sometimes attack them before eating the sub itself.
@Bookslayer10 Alternatively, they could be non-hostile until attacked, but having one attached would slow the sub down by a bit and/or put extra power strain on the engines or something like that. Not a whole lot, but stacking with multiple hitchhikers. So it's still a decision on which bullet to bite: give them a ride or risk angering them and getting into an awkward scuffle.

the real strength of flamers and steam cannon (IMO) is that they barely tickle people with PUCS which means you're at much less risk of friendly fire when hitting someone getting torn apart by say, a mudraptor, and they can hit an entire horde. that said it's so sad they barely hurt the evil ass infection 😭

The chimera is an absolutely terrifying mix between the xenomorph and the necromorph. Can't wait for the custom scenarios and purpose built subs specially made to survive an "alien" style scenario with these freaks running around. Also just my opinion, but the prowler should be able to crawl on the walls and ceiling, and the chimera should probably lunge at you (but lets be honest its OP enough)

First experience with one of those weird Necromorph mfs involved our clown grabbing a loaded depth charge, stunning the thing with the bike horn and nading himself while rushing it with said depth charge. It would have been an amazing kill, if not for the fact he did it inside the sub’s engine room, causing us to fall further into the abyss. I miss that dude :(

I remember how we encountered Chimera first time. I used 2 40mm and a frag nade on it, droped it`s health to 20%. Happily, me (Sec) and crew (med, mech and clown) went to finish it with small arms and melee weapons. IT HEALED TO FULL FOR 30 SECONDS UNDER OUR ATTACKS AND KILLED US ALL. So next time I explodet it with 3 detonators behind the wall (it was locked in small room). Never ever in this game I felt those 3 C-4+ used better.

Holy crap Louis, Horrors beyond my comprehension. I’ve owned Baro since late 2021, and the existance of Velocaneps Catalyx has only been scary after the judicious application of mods, so it’s good to see that the devs have realised this too. That basegame Husks aren’t all that scary, even the big ones are mostly just inconvenient.

Perfect, the more breaks I take from the game the more I feel like a skill level for basic competency goes down south all those abominations. And there is still mods that get changed adjusted, turn absolute, expanded ect. that give their own learning curve. With fire, from what I understand the skin itself is not really flammable. If not for hair and clothes humans don't really have much to be set in fire from, I take it is similar to crabstation of which that chimera seems to be amalgamation of. Conclusion, we need a sticky flammables, napalm perhaps. What does not extinguishers under water? Was phosphorus one of those?
When i faced exohusk i was feeling like meeting a real tank. It ate railgun shells like a breakfast and was immortal to ANY other weapon, even shooting at head. This is insane.
How do other weapons perform against them? Like the rapid fissile accelerator, stun nades, stun gun or the like? How about lethal poisons from the syringe gun? I feel like paralyzant could help slow the chimera down or enough doses of husk poison could straight up kill it?
The flamethrower should make then run away and climb into the ventilation system and the prowler should have a jump attack that tackles you to the floor

@XD-sc4ix The one I met had a skull-like head, a spiky spine and long, multijointed arms. The one in the video looks a bit more "overgrown".

For outposts I have tactics "no russian" It's simple, 4 Security officers, 10 HMG magazines and 5 HMGs
