12:41 I have a Renown I traded in my Fender Twin Reverb for back in 1983 and was a great decision .I played in a very popular cover band in New Hampshire. Still have it and after owning many others have returned to that very amp.Glad I kept it and at 65 and living in Florida now, plan on using it once again for performances . HERE
Great video. I saw a deuce with the footswitch for $150 on Craigslist today, except it was the tube version. I've always loved the 70s and 80s peaveys. Your playing sounded great too.
The Peavy Deuce is an Hybrid solid state on the Préamp and Tube for the Amp . It's a greatest amp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I rebuilt, 3 years ago, a Peavy Deuce . Now, with many other amps, i play a Peavy Artist . Thes old Amps are véry good . Sheers from France . Pascal
This particular model is all solid state. Also notice the brushed aluminum trim pieces go all the way from top to bottom. On the regular hybrid Deuce the trim stops at the bottom of the control panel. This is a very rare model I’ve discovered.
I had a Deuce, Gig it for years until I could'nt Lift it any Longer. Brilliant with 2x80w Vintage Celestions in. USED BOTH CHANNELS TOGETHER TO GET a Fatter Sound.
Lol I used to have to warn people before they moved this amp. When ever I moved to I wouldn’t let other people carry it in case they through their back out !
I bought a Classic new in 1976 i believe it’s the original model with tremolo. It’s a wonderful amplifier and produces some very pleasing sounds. I wouldn’t part with it for anything ! I’ll own it until the day i die 😃 they really are brilliant amps !
@@ClassicGuitarRockJFL LOUD! Holy crap loud. Rattle your teeth at 1 loud. Had some huge/deafening popping, took it to my amp guy and he pulled our apart to check everything and it was just dirty. No issues other than that - tubes were even still good. Picking it back up soon. Looking forward to annoying the neighborhood
I have a Peavey Deuce amp head with tubes but no speakers. But it does scream when hooked up to some bad ass speakers. I’m selling it for $200. The model is: 212 8W DEUCE The serial number is: 1A-809223 I’d love to know more about this exact amp that might help me sell it. Or maybe I’ll end up keeping it if I change my mind. I have it hooked up to a Randall 4x12 speaker cabinet but I think it’s a bass cabinet. But it definitely screams.
More info (printed on the amp head) SERIES 240T 120 VAC 60Hz 400 W It says: ‘DEUCE VT SERIES’ in the upper right hand corner of the face where yours simply says ‘DEUCE’ and the spade ♠️ symbol is right above where it says ‘DEUCE’ instead of below it. Mine also has 12 knobs instead of 10. (4) 1/4” cable inputs in the upper left hand corner (2 guitar inputs and 2 effects inputs; (A) & (B) ). There are (5) 1/4” cable inputs on the back side plus a strange looking ‘Remote Switch’ input which takes a 6 or 7 pin circle input that I’ve never seen before. The power ‘On/Off’ switch is on back also and can be switched to the left and right and the middle position is ‘Off’. There’s also a ‘Standbye/On’ switch on the front where yours is located. My soft grille doesn’t say ‘Peavey’. It’s blank. There’s a ‘5 Amp Fuse’ knob on back as well. 4 tubes. It says it was manufactured at: 711 A Street Meridian, Miss USA 39301 I hope that’s not too confusing and if anyone can tell me what I got here, I’d appreciate it. 🙏
I prefer a clean sound with a touch of echo over an over driven sound. Nice clean sound you have on this and yes you are right you can pickup Peavey amps from the 70's now for a song, I'm gonna have to get one. Fortunately for now though I have a 1997 60 watt tube Fender Blues Deville 2 x 12. I'll have to get one or two Peavey's I think though, the tube ones are currently going for peanuts, the ones to watch.
Hi Paul. Thanks for watching! Yes the Peavey's are great "bang for your buck" amps. I think it's nice to have a few around in case you need a backup. The Blues Deville is an excellent amp!
@@ClassicGuitarRockJFL Yes I love the Fender Blues Deville, used it quite a bit on stage in a 1950's style Rock and Roll Band. I just looked back to the mid 80's used to get all the classic now collectible stuff from the 60's and so on for peanuts, wish I kept it all lol. I used to have in those days A 100 watt 1969 Marshall top, a friend of me Dads had it in his loft and gave it to him and me Dad passed it on to me. Also had a Vox AC50 Tube Top, wow how I wish I had all this now lol.
Peavey’s are great amps. They run and run and run. Even the old solid state ones are great. They have amazing crisp cleans. The transistor full analog tone circuitry and output transformers give them almost the guts of a tube amp...almost. I have an old peavey musician 240 I think it is, and an old peavey Supreme (transtube circuit) as well as an old peavey pa head. Those things run amazing. My grandma used her Musician for years after she retired her showman when tubes went out of style in the mid seventies and 80s. Then she switched to her Stereo Chorus 212, along with the original foot switch, the one with all the fun controls for effects. She only retired that amp 2 years ago when she got her showman re-capped and re biased. That deuce you’re using sounds like my musician amp.
Wow. The clean sound is phenomenal. Very Fender Twin like. I hear that all Peavey amps are horrible junk...That's why I got 3 of them!!! Let's keep on reminding folks how awful they are. It'll keep the prices down so I can keep on buying more of them!
Here’s the thing about Peavey amps.... are they the greatest sounding amp on the market? No. But they are the best value by far! A good reliable workhorse amp that will probably be around longer than I will!
I love these old peavey amps too. I was just thinking if you called a amp tech perhaps you could swap out the foot switch in plug, to a more modern type where you could get a new foot switch? Just thinking, but maybe you can’t. I don’t know, I’m not a amp tech.
That's an interesting amp. I have the VT series that's solid state pre into a tube power. This one seems to have almost as warm of tone. I don't have the foot switch but I have a jack that goes straight into the overdrive channel. It's got the same kind of headroom. I swear Peavey made these to be the fender twin's direct competition.
I bought one for 200 with foot switch. It's the tube hybrid version. My biggest concern is how well dose it work with a processor bord. Waiting on a roland gr55 in the mail. Want to combine the 2.
Hi Michael, thanks for watching! I've never run a full on processor through this - but it takes my old school Boss pedals VERY nicely! Let me know how your GR55 sounds through it.
I just found one online comes with the foot switch and cover for $299 usd! Can't wait for it to arrive! Any tips for me I'm new to playing and to tube amps. I heard it's really loud hope I can play it in my house at reasonable level.... Lol of not I'll bring it outside and jam lol
Nice review/demo. I got a Deuce VT. All my amps are old Peaveys. Lots give these amps poor credit. Trick is to use them loud enough as they were designed to be. I think your overdrive is actually better than the VT.

haha that's how I got my deuce, the owner was tired of carrying it around to gigs so he sold it to me in '84 for $400 with 2x black widows in it
Lol I used to have to warn people before they moved this amp. When ever I moved to I wouldn’t let other people carry it in case they through their back out !
I have a hybrid Deuce. I paid 100 and it even has a working footswitch. I'm reasonably sure it is louder than my Marshall stack .
its interesting that the silver strips go all the way to the top instead of stopping under the chassis like other like other deuces and classics
I've never seen another Peavey like it.

Just picked up a Peavy Artist 240 (single speaker 70s Peavy with the 6l6 tubes) with the original foot switch at a flea market place for $45!
