A great review Nigel. It looks like they have changed the design a bit since I bought my lot some years ago but I can say that they work very very well! I use the "mulch" tops as mine are outdoors and the extra cane support helps a lot. Part "A" nutrient has the calcium in (which as you know is vital for tomatoes and peppers). One YT creator up North mixed his A & B together then wondered why things were not growing - they are supplied separate for a reason LOL
Hi Steve, amusing story about the feeds 🤣 I was thinking that a blanking plug could be fitted in place of the connecting pipe and use it as a two pot system which would give a better option for space saving in the greenhouse? 👍 🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
Hi Nigel, I have grown my tomatoes ,cucumbers and peppers in quadgrows for the last 4 years. I love them because I am only at home for three days each week and as you know tomatoes hate irregular watering. I wish you every success in your trial. Two years ago I tried using coco coir as the only compost I could find had added feed which I didn't want. The tomatoes and cucumbers were happy but the peppers less so. They still cropped well but I felt as though I battled through pet invasions on the plants that I have never experienced before. I have continued with coir for the tomatoes this year as I had some left but the cucumbers and peppers were planted in the cheapest compost I could find. No problems with pests on my peppers and everything looking very healthy.
Hello Susan, good to hear your experience using coco. I personally have never been a fan and based on your comments I will continue to use standard compost with added perlite in the mix. Many thanks for watching! 😀 🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
Hello Nigel really liked the look of that kit and I know I should have waited till end off season to see your results but when I went unto Greenhouse sensations site they where doing a deal if you bought two [8 planting pots] plus free delivery as I struggle some nights to get to my plot after work I purchased them to have for next year I have to say the service was first class I ordered Sunday night and they where delivered Tuesday afternoon to Belfast N.Ireland on inspection I'm well pleased a real sturdy piece off kit Thanks for the review
Hello, the intervals between topping up the reservoir will suit you perfectly. It is also nice to be able to add liquid feed into the mix 👍 🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
A great review and tutorial. It looks a great piece of kit. It will be interesting to see the difference between the two watering systems. Look forward to see the progress with them. All the best Nic 👍
Hallo well these would be fab if people don't have alot of time to keep on top of watering or if they don't have the growing space for plants in the ground... if I hade a conservatory I would get these type of set ups most definitely... thank you for showing us them and I hope they work how you want them too 💗 Keep smiling 😃samantha
Hi Samantha, yes these are ideal if you cannot attend to the plants on a regular basis, I guess this system would last easily two weeks once filled 👍 🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
@@MuddyBootz I'm thinking my sister might benefit next year... we always give her tomatoes and chilli plants for her conservatory kitchen... she is not too good at watering lol so for next year we might try these things 😉 thank you for showing us 😊
Nigel Great demo mate. As you know I use a few of them. You can get a blanking plug for them as well so you can then use them as duo pots. Why not ask them for one of the chilli grow system to demo as well.
Hi Rob, I did think about using a tank plug to blank it off but for some reason in the manual it does not recommend it. Ref the chilli grow, if one is offered I would happily do a review but I never ask for products. Quite a few manufacturers watch UA-cam videos and that is when they often contact the creators for product reviews 👍. Many thanks for watching! 😀 🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
Excellent demo Nigel. That quadgrow really looks the business. I'm tempted to get one. I grow my Tomatoes in pots now, but when I first started out, I purchased a Hozelock watering system with the wicker (£25) for a growbag, where I'd fill the tray similar to the quadgrow and I'd keep it topped up once a week. The trouble was, it became a magnate for Slugs and a breeding ground for Mosquitoes, that's why I stopped using it. I see yours is up off the ground. Perhaps that's where I went wrong. Then again, my pots are on the ground and I don't get the problems with pests like I did before, so, I don't know. Perhaps you'll have the answer?
Hi Stephen, the true benefits will be at the end of the season. I raised them off the ground to create a level platform in the greenhouse borders, but I usually do not have any issues with slugs etc. Many thanks for watching! 😀 🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
I will be building / filming my own system in a few weeks time for chillis and peppers also. 😄👍🏻. Let me know how you get on. What do you plan on growing in. It?
I would move them away from the glass some more next time Nigel. I have 2 chilligrows from this company and never looked back. And their customer service is next to none thank you the angels. Wait till you see the root mass at the end.
Good demo. Would be good to see a comparison of yield between the different methods of growing? I bought a quadgrow last year and I’m trialling growing mine in perlite in it this year - seems ok so far 🤞
Hello Helen and welcome to the channel 😀. Keep me informed how the perlite media performs 👍. Many thanks for watching! 😀 🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
I just did a search and see that you reviewed the quadgrow system 2 years ago. I have it myself and find it works well, but my question to you is do you know what has happened to Garden Sensations? They seem to be no longer around. Web site exists but not taking orders and the phone is always busy. Great shame if they’ve gone.
I bought eight of these to use in my shed. Two of the eight were damaged and cracked and i was never reimbursed for these or even offered a replacement.
I am very suprised at that? I find Greenhouse Sensations (Garden Angels) have one of the best customer support teams around. What reason did they give for not replacing it? 🌻🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
Hi Steve, as far as I'm aware the capillary matting is all that it needs. I did set a similar DIY system in my mate's greenhouse a few years back based on the same principles and he had a marvellous crop of tomatoes 👍 🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
