she straightens her arm a couple of times breaking the circular chi but all around good. This appears to be Yang taiji Ch'uan, which often over stretches for visual pleasure to audiences. Same as performance wushu in comparison to combat wushu which has us curve our arms to 135 degrees.
No! This is sport form, not original form, what circular chi you are writing about? The goals are very different. Here they use standard stances from sport wushu. The stretches are used in traditional taijiquan too for stretching and improving the body stance. Practicing with weapon also need stretching of the arm and body for better reach. Not all practices in taijiquan are directly connected to qi practices. With crooked body stance the circular flow of qi is broken as well, as it is with most of the taiji practitioners today, who have zero basic training and their qi practices are useless because of the crooked body. And this taolu is NOT based on Yang shi taijijian, although there are some Yang shi taijijian movements. It is based on Wudang taijijian. Excellent performance!
Very enjoyable!
A splendid adaptation of Yang Tai-Chi Sword and Wu-Shu.

Very interesting Wu-tang Tai Chi Sword form... Quite different from the Chen-style I'm aware of.
