      Info from my mechanic: prices skyrocketed since COVID, and a really good quality aftermarket (Bosch/VDO) part is expected to arrive within half a year for a much better price. I'm trying to get my car working until then.

    Hi Cosmin ! Great video you have a new subscribe !
    I suffered from 2AAF (Fuel pump plausability) and 30DA (NOx sensor) + engine vibration at idle/cruising speed/accelerating. tried swapping fuel pump but it did not work (LPFP).
    used INPA and realized my LPFP is only 4.2 bar instead of 5 (fluctuating a lot in range of 0.2 bars, fuel rail pressure is 98-150 bars only instead of 200. only if I floor peddal it goes all the way to 200 bar (so probably the HPFP is working properly).
    And only when I clear èrror codes, I get misfires in bank 2.
    I now think one or both inkectors in bank 2 is leaking. does it all add up you think ?

      Hi! Thank you for subscribing! 🙂
      I'm not a mechanic. I just like to learn new things and fix my own stuff. I suggest you read on bimmerprofs page. There's a lot of good info there and i think also on fuel pump and pressure and all that stuff. That's where i also learned about injectors.
      I don't think lfp would be low because of leaky injectors. But if the lpfp cannot provide proper pressure that would be an issue indeed. Search on the site i mentioned. It will help you 🙂

      Hi! I am not a professional, so i cannot say for sure, but I would find it logical that the ECU will rebuild all those adaptations in time. But it probably takes a lot of time this way. You will find a lot of good information on bimmerprofs.com/

      @@CosminRotaru I’ve managed to see bmw instructions on this and when changing/replacing injectors, you only need to carry out injector quantity compensation. Adaptations are not to be deleted for such change. Adaptations are to be reset for things like new ecu or new engine..

      @CosminRotaru 3 місяці тому

      @@slengoslengaw8510The ecu will adjust injectors flow through their life. As much as possible. At some point there is no room for adjustments and other adjustments will be made (like long term fuel trims to correct for rich fuel mixture, for example). Then you would have misfires, fuel in oil in case of leaking injectors. That's why i think is not a bad advice to reset adaptations. I guess on their minds bmw think you'd replace injectors proactivity, before they fail and mess up the whole system...

    Hi thanks for the video. I have a code for injector / misfire cylinder 3 on my N43 318i and considering steps. BMW dealership quoted £479 + £140 fitting per Index 12 injector, so replacement of all is probably uneconomical.
    Did replacing all 4 injectors finally resolve your rough running / misfires? I may attempt to remove and clean tips and replace seals, otherwise next replace the faulty injector with used and hope that works. Thanks.

    • @CosminRotaru
      @CosminRotaru 3 місяці тому +1

      Hi! Yes it did. If your injectors are pre index 11 it might be that you won't get it properly fixed with changing just one injector. But start easy with changing the spark plugs first. You can try swapping around spark plugs/ coils. Even injectors (but you will have to code them as you swap them.

    Hello, Thanks for great video!
    What do you think about the symptoms on my N43 engine:
    - Car is shacking at cold start (ambiant temperature in my garage is 15C so quite not cold)
    - Motor goes up to 1100tr/min for a few seconds then drop to 680tr/min or so
    - Shacking diminishes when driving then goes stronger at idle (red lights)
    - Same shacking on P R an D. Seems sometimes a little worse on R.
    - After shifting to D, when releasing the brake, at cold start, car almost "jumps" instead of being smoothly mooving forward
    - When car is warm, car seems way more stable
    - Occasionnal rough start when warm

      Maybe you got the misfires just because the coils - but you might need to change the spark plugs as well as they might be dirty from all the misfires.
      Hopefully it is not the injectors - common issue on these engines. If you know they haven't been change ever, you should probably change them. They had 11 iterations (updates) on these injectors. The last one ("index 11") are from 2014 i think.

  • @Telstar_1

    Just a clarification please. You found injectors in cylinders 1 & 3 were leaking, but you seemed to replace and code new injectors at cylinders 1 & 4?

    • @CosminRotaru
      @CosminRotaru 2 місяці тому +2

      Hi! Yes. The test only shows if injectors are leaking. Also the fuel pressure during cranking might not be as high as the pressure provided by the hpfp when the engine is actually running. So s slight leak in this test might be worse when the engine is actually running. Besides leaking an injection might be broken in other ways. It might be clogged or with a bad spraying pattern. So after changing only those two injectors i still had misfires. But i think i have explained this in the video.
      With the misfires and the fact that the injectors were old anyway (before index 11) I have decided to change them all. My conclusion is that, with these engines, at some point you will have to update to index 11 injectors.

    How is your engine running now? You get a lot more detail of what's happening with INPA. Is your NOx system working ok? Do you know if your car goes into Stratified Charge Mode? This mode is essential if you want the injectors to adapt properly.

    • @CosminRotaru
      @CosminRotaru 6 місяців тому +2

      Hi! Yes, the engine runs normal now (with no misfires). It does goes in stratified mode. I can also see that it goes into desulfuration on the highway - which it wouldn't do if all stars are not aligned. :)
      I still have negative long fuel trims (especially at idle) which I am trying to figure out why (I am thinking temperature sensors, PCV, Vanos).
      Fuel pressure (high side) still drops when stoping the engine - but I was told I got it wrong, and this is normal for this engine...
      And I have an error on the water pump (miscommunication or something like that).
      You cannot get bored with this car :D

    • @MartiansChronicle
      @MartiansChronicle 6 місяців тому +1

      @CosminRotaru Good to hear the misfires have gone. Do you have 0 misfires or do you still get the occasional one?
      You might be interested in this (from Bimmerprofs):
      1. "Remark: In my blog, I have previously mentioned my observations that MSD80/81 (BMW E series) stops updating the individual adaptations of the injectors in idle/Stratified charge if the AC is turned off. I have no information regarding problems/switching off regarding other adaptations (but there is a significant possibility that previously mentioned injector adaptations are not the only ones that are turned off)."
      2. "Note: keep the AC always on! Only/if AC is on DME can determine the engine’s mechanical load (alternator and AC pump). Only if AC is on, DME upgrade injectors adaptations in idle/Stratified charge."
      I don't know if you have INPA but if you go to the above site, you provide the required data from INPA, and these guys will analyse your engine. Nobody knows these engines better than them. It's better you spend 50 Euros on analysis than change parts. :)
