Allyn, don't get discouraged by a dbag prof who doesn't have anything to do over the summer vacation and is mad now they have to go back to work. I really enjoy listening to the podcasts while I mow my lawn. The podcasts inspire me to keep going because at the end of the season I get frustrated when I see the crab grass or other weeds in my lawn. I have to bite the bullet and get the sprinkler company to come out next spring and redo some of my sprinklers because I just can't get the watering coverage right. Take care and god bless!

The "philosopher" - if that is really even a "thing" - can simply be dismissed. What's discouraging is the abuse of power that Allyn has picked up on. There's a sugar family in Florida that writes large checks. That influence seems to override things like red tides. Allyn is good at math. Maybe he can come up with the numbers for lawns vs. sugar production. Might even include something about sugar price supports. We all want to pay more for sugar, right? Could be that it's a different "carve out" that Allyn has picked up on. Regardless, becoming jaded is the only rational result from the current situation.

Hey Allyn, never comment on YT videos but I can see the frustration. As someone who has followed for a few years, you have educated me greatly and I can spread that knowledge indirectly to friends and family. So your positive impact reaches maybe more than you can even see. Keep fighting the good fight and don’t let the 1% be the loudest or the main voice you hear. See ya in the lawn man! 💪🏻

Even though I'm an old guy of 74 years old, I continue to look up to you as my mentor when it comes to grass. Been using Bio stimulants forever and they truly make a difference and your stress blend fertilizer is my go to in the summer.
I don't live in Florida but I agree 100% on you questioning the fertilizer ban. If it's the law then those who know the big wigs should not be paying them off to have exemptions.
That's what's happening to this great country. Too many elites who think their above us regular Joe's.
Keep up your fight and many thanks for your time with the pod casts and video's . I really enjoy your content.
    All the best

I also had an uninformed person call me out on my channel when I was doing a how to video on fertilizing, telling me that I’m fertilizing during the blackout. When in reality I have no blackout. Within my county at NassauCounty. It seems like it’s always the uninformed uneducated that have the loudest voice. The lawn tubes is helpful if folks build each other up and not tear each other down like 4 specific guys. All of these guys know a significant amount and should use their platforms to encourage and instruct. Please brothers ! work this stuff out and a lot more people will be reached with proper techniques for doing lawn care. It has been years since this bashing and destroying each other started. Yes, lots of errors and bad advice on the lawn tubes that needs to be corrected so email, call or reach out directly . Own the mistakes and move forward . I watch almost everyone and will continue . I added a patch of citra blue St Augustine plugs in the spring. I have grass where weeds wouldn’t even grow before. I’ve got a couple more trays of plugs coming for fall planting to fill in those bare spots. It’s been extremely shade tolerant and doesn’t mind the Texas heat. I’m plugging all my north and west areas with it and giving it that hydr8 biostim love so it grows in during our fall season.

My parkways are floritam, my mainstage is another type of St. Aug that I cannot identify (the sod farm claims its Floritam, but it is clearly different). The main stage is taking it pretty well, the floritam, not at all. I have put out new plugs and some sod but they too seemed to be dieing . The scott's disease ex has not helped this year to I put out some propiconazole last week. It seems to be helping...maybe I put out some more sod in another month after a second app of the propiconazole and get some recovery going.

If you can't spray nitrogen specific fertilizers during certain months what is stopping you from spraying DEF? 15 oz per 1000 sqft is great! If you spray more than 20 oz per 1000 sqft it can burn. This I learned watching utube.

Because I believe(d) the underlying reason for the law which is to keep our ecosystem free from runoff. DEF or not it will still leach out in our heavy rains.

Allyn I recently applied microgreene to my Bermuda to get the blue-green effect, and I used a fine mist nozzle with some surfactant and did not water in. I was under the impression that this is a foliar product. Is that not the case?

    • @Thelawncarenut
      @Thelawncarenut  Місяць тому +1

Correct. This one needs to be watered in. Just mulch when you mow. It will get there eventually

It IS certainly legitimate to question how much phos or N is actually moving off areas of application. If very little is leaching, perhaps the laws are misguided. One of the scientists that questioned your following of that law might actually agree that the laws are misguided.

Lawn Boss, I guess my question is, why would a "Philosophy Major" care about you allegedly breaking the law?
I imagine if you were to approach this individual and question his authority on Aristotle, he would advise you to remain in your educational lane...so what gives Him (Or her), the authority to question one of the leading resources in lawn care (My opinion), on best agricultural practices, or the environmental impact in doing so??? Rhetorical question, seeing as how you've proved yourself right lol.
This individual must be one of those who post pictures on social media, calling out people who like grass and telling us we're destroying the earth for not having wildflowers in our yards....

Climate change and rising sea levels will make properties in low lying areas and coastal areas impossible to insure. Banks will be reluctant to give a mortgage for 15 or 30 years because the property may be under water. Selling properties to average buyers will become impossible in the future as banks and mortgage companies stop making loans for these properties. Coastal areas are a high risk for insurance and extreme weather like hurricanes. People will have to self insure and take the risk of loss. Condo associations are losing their insurance and if they find a new higher cost policy they will be passing on the higher costs to association members. Flooded cars from hurricanes fill the salvage lots. Insurance companies will raise rates and pass on the costs and risks to policy holders next year. Coastal properties will be confined to wealthy individuals that can buy properties with cash and self insure for losses from hurricanes or rising sea levels.
