      You bet I do! Do you happen to know anything about splines and nurbs? I have to model a fork, candlestick, picture frame, and a curio cabinet (I'm not even sure what that is) using them.

      Hi Natasha,
      Well yes, I know about splines and nurbs. You pretty much model an object "in the air" using wires ( splines ) Then you connect the lines with nurbs to create the model.
      Check out this video, it will help

    Basic question here...How do u drag select and make multiple selections on edges and vertex? Is it just the usual left clicking? Not working with a system yet

    • @MHTutorials3D

      Open option box in select tool and change setting

      Jonét Harry Select both in object mode at the same time and then go to Mesh - Separate
      That should fix it

    Hi Mike, thanks for this video. I've a question regarding the Beval. I've heard that if you put more than 2 off set, this will cause maya to have problems with the render. Is that true? Also..what's that weird red selection and its purpose? (10:08). Thank you again

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  9 років тому

      TheDorianTube Hi there,
      Regarding your Bevel question, never heard or experienced that problem.
      And for the "weird" red selection ? When hitting B on the keyboard this triggers a soft selection mode when modifying vertices etc.
      Regards,
      Mike

    • @TheDorianTube
      @TheDorianTube 9 років тому

      Mike Hermes Hi again, thanks for the clarification about the Beval. Regarding the red selection, I called it weird because in every other tutorial I've seen (a lot of them) this is the first time someone is using it. It was like seeing a weird phenomenon coming out of nowhere ahahah XD (for me)

    Hmmm. My couch texture looks nothing like yours. Does that mean my computer can't handle the super fine texture?

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  9 років тому

      Jonét Harry Did you set your render to Visor ?

    • @jonettheonly
      @jonettheonly 9 років тому

      Visor? You mean mental ray?

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  9 років тому

      Jonét Harry Hi there,
      I am so sorry. I don't mean Visor I mean Viewport 2.0 ( no idea why I mixed these two up ) Just above your main window is a tab called renderer. Here you can select Viewport 2.0 for a high quality preview
      Mike

      Mike Hermes Nope, didn't work. I think it is just because my computer can't handle all the textures. But thanks for your help.

    It would've been great to watch and learn this tutorial with captions. I don't see a point with the automatic captions, it's really horrible. I'm hard of hearing, so it's a bit of a struggle to understand what you're saying. Maybe consider close captions for your videos? It would be extremely helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

      Hi Adam,
      Thank you for your feedback. I can image that it's hard to follow my video without cc but at this point I really don't know how to add those.
      But I will make an effort to find out.
      I can't promise you that all my vids will have cc as it is very labour intensive and I make these vids in my spare time,
      Regards,
      Mike

    • @gringoamigo8146
      @gringoamigo8146 10 років тому

      I can understand that. It would be greatly appreciated if you do manage to get captions in your videos. If not, that's okay. I'll learn as best as I can. Thank you very much for the consideration.

      Hi Adam,
      Let's agree to this for now... If you ever get stuck with one of my videos and don't know what to do, drop me a line and I will talk ( write ) you throught it. How about that ?
      Regards,

      Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. In fact, I can't figure out how you move the vertices in a way to make the cushions look pressed- Like some people have sat on it recently. I didn't see you click on something, so you must have used a keyboard shortcut. What was the shortcut?
      I've been using Blender for over a year, so some of the stuff in Maya are pretty familiar. Now, I just need to learn where all the stuff is, what kind of features it has that Blender doesn't have, and learn the keyboard shortcuts. 3D Max and Maya seem to be "standard" tools when it come to having a career, so I picked Maya.

      Adam,
      1. Right click on your object and go to object mode
      2. Right click on the selected object and select vertices
      3. Select the vertex
      4. Hit the shortcut key W on your keyboard ( shortcut for move
      5. Select the move handle and pull up ( or down etc
      Please let me know if that helped,
      Regards,
      Mike

      hahaha, you make great stuff but you don't speak loudly, this is the issue, sometimes it is difficult to hear your voice where it is very important
