- Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green.

Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

I’m astounded at the absolute nerve of people to criticize PROFESSIONALS on their technique. I like that you use the curettage tools instead of irrigation only, like we have to endure in Southern California. I would travel to Wales just to see you lads!
I agree. The utter audacity of some people. They watch a couple of videos and think they’re experts. 🙄
Arm chair audiologists need to sit their butt down. I watch and think 'would forceps get that? Would x tool work' but wouldnt dream of telling the expert how to do their job
It's funny how many youtube commenters know everything about someone else's job on the basis of no experience whatsoever.
Kaiser used the irrigation on my blocked ear and hit my eardrum. It ached for days.
These people watch too many of the "ear esthetician" videos from Japan. Not even a criticism of Japan necessarily, Japanese (and other East Asian) folks have different ear wax so I'm not sure if there are different recommendations and/or things that should or shouldn't be done.
I love how Rhys encourages Taylor. Like a big brother who's little brother, joined the family business ❤
Your videos are entertaining of course, but you are really helping so many of us learn and be able to advocate for ourselves. I'm a nurse and my son makes so much earwax that his ears occlude every other month despite it running out of his ears on his pillow overnight! We were able to get in and see a specialist who used suction, saving him endless irrigation and restoring his hearing to the best it has been in years.
Rhys trying to wriggle that piece of wax out of the almost collapsed opening reminded me of the last time I tried threading a needle. Of course I’m old 👵🏼 with declining vision and shaky hands and Rhys is a master 🤴🏻 dealing with patient issues.
I love how Nurse Richard asks people, who criticise his work, when their next training session is so he can go along.🤓
Lol me too!
I don't criticize his work, just his dad jokes...😂
Nurse Richard doesn’t get bothered about criticisms does he. Fabulous attitude.
Nurse Richard wouldn't care he's a nurse you have to have a broad back 😅😂❤
I only think of good comebacks 3 or 4 days later.
Taylor is so witty and funny. You both are very good working together and informative
I agree with Ripplesinksthewater's comment. Also, I would much rather see a professional like these 2 lads who know HOW to use curettage as well as suction and irrigation. It's an example of how well they know their stuff.
I can't believe arm chair professionals know better than trained professionals 🙄 Fascinating as ever 😊
So nice to see you both together again 😊
Always lovely to see you both xx
Thanks Mr B and Mr G
I cant believe we are almost at a 1000, but i can say I've each and everyone of them at least once xx
It always amuses me when you say “Stay tuned .” How many of your avid followers do you really think would cut you guys off part way through? 🤣🤣🤣
Great videos. Good to see the both of you together 👍🙂
Yay! I'm first to post! Love your videos. Aloha from Hawai'i.
It’s so nice to hear Taylor speaking more! 😊
I admire the work you both do and LOVE listening to you describe your patients ear issues
Very nice video. Thanks Rhys and Taylor ❤️❤️
Thank you both for another great grouping of earwax removals!
Nice Job Mr.B and Taylor G 🙋🏽.👊🏽👍🏽💯.
I love watching your videos and hearing your commentaries, and thank you for the other video suggestions.
Do the seasons affect what type of wax people have or the conditions of their ears?
Thanks for another great video both of you. Wonderful to see you both together. I enjoy that.
It was interesting and enjoyable to watch.
Both of you had lots of wax to remove. Rhys yours was an extremely narrow ear channel. Wow. But bit by bit you got it. Nice work Rhys.
My compliments to both of you for your fine work. Both are very professional.
I am amazed at those that criticize you both and know nothing about what you do. Just amazing. Oh well. People/ha.
Thanks for everything. Good to see both of you.
Iowa here. Steve.
Always a pleasure to watch you two charming and witty gentlemen😊
When the ear canal gets so closed, do they ever completed close? Is there something people can do to open their ears
Love both of these professionals
Great job guys!!👏🏻👏🏻💜💜
Of course they are good because they are patient with types of patients.😊 Not just the easy ones.
As always I enjoy all of your videos. You keep mentioning that you are putting Links at the top of the screen for interesting videos on UA-cam. But I am not seeing any links show up there at all can I cannot locate them in the comment section. Am I booking in the wrong places?
Nice to see Taylor kicking off the video today. 👍😊
It might not be the biggest plug ever, but it is satisfying to see them come out intact.
Have you guys tried Neels new tools yet!! Nurse Richard did an assessment this past week. Connor also gave a scientific evaluation. Now waiting on the Welsh Duo to give yours !!🤔🤗
What causes some people to have this kind of build up. I have had ear problems since I was a baby and have had some build up but never this bad. Recently I was diagnosed with eczema in the ear canals, and I am in there with a q tip a lot because the itching on the canals and eardrum is horrendous I have no buildup. I can imagine your patients relief after a cleaning.
Some people over-produce wax, in others, it doesn't migrate outwards as it should and for some people, it's both.
Using q tips in your ear canals is like scratching eczema anywhere else on the body - it feels _amazing_ while you're doing it, but it also makes the problem worse. If your ear canals are itchy, that's usually a sign that the skin is too dry - and q tips absorb the natural moisturising oils and make it dryer. Try using some medical grade olive oil to moisturise your ear canals instead, or at least apply some after you use q tips if you can't resist the temptation.
It's a gene that causes the excess wax.
@@heatherexcell3078 Thanks for that advice. I'll try to get some medical grade olive oil. I know in long run it makes it worse but sometimes it's just extremely itchy.
@@loridocter2144 interesting. Thanks!
What causes it to be narrow like this?
The funny shaped one is Shrek's earwax candle
Ooooooo it’s a good day when you get to the video early!
I love watching you guys! Your a riot to listen to as well
Great video!
My husband has been urging me to get hearing aids. But I have been hesitant because I have tinnitus and I suspect that all I will get is really loud whooshing sounds. Any suggestions, please?
You guys must have great focus. It got to be very difficult to keep your hands steady.
I've watched so many of your videos and feel like I've learned so much from them! As much as I hate people criticising the trchniques, I often find myself SQUIRMING at a certain clinic's videos - they use a rosen inserter/hook on basically every removal, even if there's no gap or any way to see what's behind it. It's so scary!
A few months ago i watched a video from another clinic (i think it was from China). And boy, it was a sh1t show. They made a whole salad out of that wax plug 🤢 naturally I could't finish the video 😅
Love the videos! But so frustrated with YT turning off mu notification bells!
Have you tried Neel's tools yet?? xx
As always,, enjoy what I see 😀.
Wonderful work!! I love to see Taylor!! 😊
So close to 1000 episodes! Mad stuff
That was a challenging one, Rhys...
Love your channel and the knowledge you provide, take care and stay safe. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautifully done as usual
I make my living teaching children. You guys do so by helping people with their ears'. If I need help with my ears, I would ask you two as you are far and away more knowledgeable about ears than I am.
I just watching you guys. You make it enjoyable ❤❤❤
Older people probably suffer from this. And their hearing decreases because of this substance in the ear😮
An ear carrot. Did you find the rabbit, too?
It looked like an earwax slug never mind plug😂
"Squeaky Clean, Taylor Green"......😁🤣😁🤣😁🤣
Really good video guys! Thanks so much for sharing.❤️🇨🇦
Great video guys. 👏❤️
Thank you.
Well done, once again!
Rhys you explain things so well as does the lovely…
Another great video :)
Was that a perforation at the top of the eardrum on the first ear with the eardrum peel?
On the 1st peel by Taylor, what was the hole between 10-11 pm?
I actually remember that patient of Rhys’ from long ago. 😅
Has your office used Neel Raithatha's new curatage that he developed?
The guy at Durham has and he liked them.
The first one did a disappearing act: Now you see; now you don’t
Have you used olive oil?
Eating hubba bubba gum rn... This video is gonna be interesting
I love how people try to tell you how to do your job😂
Ugh, I hate how people tell professionals how to do their jobs.
Where does the lovely stuff end up?
In the clinical waste, presumably.
@@julieannewooder4557 Haha, true.
There is reason we all have wax in our ears. It should only be removed if it is produced in excess.
Third from Jordan
👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤
Love you guys! Wondered if you clean each others ears? Will you record and show? Please
Taylor did Rhys' a while back
@22Purplemist do you know what episode? Anyone know?
@@tiffanyhardin3452 - within the last 3 years but I can't narrow it down further

Seeing sometimes the way people’s ears hold wax if you both might be better off calling in hostage negotiators! 😂😂😂😂
2nd post
I thought for the squishy, mushy wax that you used irrigation?
It depends, if they can get with micro-suction they do. If they can't and the ear is messy they will use irrigation
When are you guys going to review of Neel's tools? Can't wait to see what you think of them.
Have either of you tried Neel's instruments
I know the guy at Durham did and liked them.
Just subscribed to the is awesomely disgusting channel, and what I’ve learned after many absorbing hours is that it’s a real shame we can’t blow our ears like we blow our noses. I feel like evolution has really let us down in this area.
Ye are a scream I’d love a session with ye two 😂
Am I the only one not seeing the cards? All I see is them pointing in the air. When I do that my nephews start laughing because I am the crazy aunt.
In all your free time 😉 you need create a upgrade for the vac tube system so it also blows out the wax. Like a shop vac, can both such up and blow out air.
Details not day are important !

Third, but here's bronze 🥉
This is utterly disgusting. Why on earth would anybody want to look at other people’s ear wax?
I never get ear wax, ever. I never have. I shower twice a day. These people have obviously never heard of soap and water. Gross!!!
You are obviously uneducated
You need to clean the entire ear canal
There are a couple reasons they don’t. 1. Wax is necessary for ear health. 2. Sometimes the risk of injuring the ear canal or causing patient discomfort isn’t worth it. I understand, though, as an observer it might be more satisfying to see a squeaky clean canal. 🙂
I don't think we would have glands in the ear producing wax if there wasn't supposed to be some there. As long as the ear drum is clear & can function efficiently, a bit of wax left in the canal is a protection.
You're either deaf or dense, didn't have the audio on or a bot. They explained why it's fine as it is in the video
It would be more hygienic and interesting if you shaved away all that hair from the entrance to the ear canal and swabbed a bit after cleaning.
Other clinicians who do that appear much more professional and definitely more hygienic.
I’ve stopped watching your channel because you don’t attend to the details and the day are important.
I'd rather they didn't. Those hairs are there for a reason which, if you listened to what they say you would know. Those so-called audiologists you are referring to are actually less professional because they shouldn't be removing them at all unless it's absolutely necessary and there's nothing unhygienic about those hairs. You don't see what they do afterwards, only the procedure.
You said you've stopped watching yet you're still here. Off you go.
I can't tell if you're joking or not.
