Although still an amazing performance, I think they missed the point of the original piece for harpsichord which was (if I'm not mistaken) to recreate a continuous sound with an instrument with poor resonance in an imitation of what Ligeti heard while studying electronic music in Köln.
With that being said, it still sounds really good!

Your understanding of the original intent is the same as our understanding! Since the harpsichord is less resonant and has a bit of noise to its sound (and because we can’t play as fast on the marimba as a one can on a harpsichord!) our version is different but we love how the piece sounds. Glad you like it too! Thanks for listening 🙏🙏🙏🙏

You totally misunderstood this wonderful piece! Your interpretation is against Ligeti’s idea. (Zoltán Rácz)

Thanks for listening Zoltan! The original version on harpsichord is absolutely mesmerizing and a piece that we’ve loved for years. We decided to create a different interpretation since the marimba is such a different instrument from the harpsichord. It’s a lot of fun to play and we love how the piece sounds in this version. Anyway thanks for the comment and we’re sending you hugs from all of us in Chicago 🙌
