As a woman who has struggled through secondary infertility, I just want you to know that I love and appreciate that you did this! Anyone who is the recipient of your dna is incredibly lucky! 💓 We've lost 9 pregnancies so this option has come up in drs visits. You are a GEM of a human, Hannah! 🥰
Oh my god, I am SO sorry. That is…. Just wow I can’t begin to imagine how you feel. My condolences I truly hope you receive a child one day. I would love to know if you’ve had success since this comment? 💜
I have a question, why just don’t adopt newborns if those kids aren’t biologically yours anyway?
@@streamsan580there’s a growing movement that feels that adoption of infants is unethical. It’s a super coercive industry that takes advantage of women in precarious situations. And that it’s still fundamentally traumatizing for the infant to be taken away from bio mom, even at birth. Not only that, but just because the child isn’t genetically the mothers, doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t want to carry and birth the child if given the opportunity. Especially if there isn’t that genetic bond, I can see wanting to have that experiential bond.

That’s why I’m thinking about doing it!! Trying to get rid of my debt and I want to get my masters 😭
Lol I wish I thought of this while I was IN college, I’m looking into this so I could pay down student debt 😅
Personally, I couldn’t donate because I would feel like it’s my child, but I have so much respect for people who are willing to donate and found this video very informative.
HeyItsKeri I have so many friends who feel that exact way ♥️ absolutely a personal decision, we all feel different about these things, and we can only do what we feel is right for ourselves ☺️
@Ro se Both the egg and sperm are cells called gametes. They cannot divide or reproduce on their own.
When the egg and sperm combine, they form a cell called a zygote. That tiny cell may divide many, many times and form an embryo, and after further growth and cell division can form a fetus.
+Heyitskeri that's is very very untrue. I'm not saying this to be rude, but I would really recommend reading some sciencetific texts about how embryos and fetuses form. Both sperm AND egg are needed to form an embryo. An embryo is made of 50/50 genetic material from sperm AND egg.
@@laurenlewis6838 How can you say someone's opinion is untrue?? That certainly IS rude. I can understand what she's saying, that once the egg is fertilized it would feel like that is her child. That egg contains her DNA. Just stop.
Having donated twice at the age of 19, I can tell you that this video is reasonably accurate. Everyone is different. My only piece of advice for those looking into egg donation, make sure you do your research! Good luck.
May I ask what agency you applied for? Also I don’t know my fathers history, nor my grandparents. It that truly important, or can it be overlooked?
I am from an egg donor. It is a complicated and emotional issue for everyone involved. Personally, it caused me some confidence issues growing up because I didn’t understand why I was the way I was (apart from my father). It wasn’t until I met my at biological mother at 18 that I began to understand who I am. Genetics play a large role in who and how you are (ex. I’m terrified of flying and no one in my family is, my dad was literally a pilot at one point but then I learned that all the women on my bio-moms side are terrified of flying too). To the people commenting that it is horrible to choose the eggs you want (for whatever reason), I have to disagree. The woman who grew and raised me wanted a child who resembled her in both intellect and appearance. She couldn’t have children of her own so the next best thing for her was to choose someone like her so she felt less alienated. Also if you’re paying the amount you do to have a child per egg donation, you want some say in the lottery which is creating a child. It’s not a designed baby because no one can predict every attribute from an egg and a sperm. This is just my experience but ultimately we shouldn’t shun people for their choices, whether it be adopting, egg donation, traditional ways or not having children at all.
If you have your tubes tied can you donate eggs. You are not required to take said offspring if parents don't want it right
@@darkapothecary4116 I have not donated, but I just did some quick research for you, and from everything I looked at, it seems that 1) you CAN still donate eggs if your tubes are tied, and 2) there is very little "google search" info on the *specific* question of whether the donor has any responsibility for the child whatsoever, but I'm pretty confident you're not, and you can always make 100% certain of it in your contract.
@@milo_thatch_incarnate hey can you please tell me names of agencies I can contact if I want to donate...and can I still do it if I am from Egypt or I have to be from the same country ..thanq in advance
You call your father 'dad' and your biological mother 'bio mum' but you call your mother 'the woman who raised you'. That sounds really detached from her.

Thank you for being so honest, organized and vulnerable. I'm considering donating and this video make me feel better educated and comfortable.
Thank you so much for sharing information about this! I’ve always thought about doing this growing up and this helped me make more judgements on the situation.
Thank you so much for posting this!! My best friend and I have both been considering this for a long time and this is so helpful! I personally don't want children, but I want to help others in need!
Scarlett Rose Turner that’s amazing! I hope it goes well for you ♥️☺️
I did egg donation back in 1999. Back then i only paid 5,000$. The paperwork was intense and personal. The medical side was grueling for me ,dealing with the intense increase and decrease of hormones. I forgot to say i did this in Chicago. Sounds like things are pretty much the same. They matched me with a couple, that the wife had similar traits as me. Im tall , Italian an artist. I have dark hair, olive complected, hazel eyes. I remember it asking what my favorite movie and book are. Favorite foods, hobbies, personal views on things. Left handed...like i said very detailed and I can understand why. At the time i already had 2 girls and I was 25 years old. I don't regret my decision to donate eggs. You did an amazing job describing the experience you didn't mention the hormonal part but maybe not everyone experiences that. The only thing I ever have thought about is what if my daughter ends up dating or god forbid marrying her half brother. I was informed my couple did conceive a son they were nice enough to tell me. They also wanted me to do it again 3 yrs later but i didn't have it in me emotionally or physically so i didn't choose to.
Have you had any side effects? I’m nervous about cancers and future infertility
I've been really looking forward to your videos about this! As someone seriously considering egg donations I found everything you said super helpful. Really appreciate your channel and hope you keep it up!

Good for you! You are so spot on! It really is only up to the person doing it and you've been able to learn from your experiences and communicate them to us! It really is kind of the ultimate gift to someone who otherwise wouldn't be able to have a child. And that is kindness too! 👍💝
hannah, love your videos on van life. Just stumbled upon this one and must say i approve. I am in my sixties, have six wonderful grandchildren and if it werent for egg donation i wouldnt have one of my grandkids. My son and his wife have a beautiful, intelligent healthy 10 year old now thanks to people like you. I found this so interesting. I live in Australia and here you don't get paid for donating your eggs in fact it's illegal to pay someone to donate their eggs.
May be immoral but out here in the wild west that is america its more immoral not to pay because 99% of us are sharing like 18% of the wealth and there's a lot of us.
In Oregon women are so impoverished they often sell their infants on the open market surrogates are legal. Some gals are so poor they sell babes so they and partner can purchase a home to live. I heard about 80,000 a child and many of the "buyers" are wealthy Cali couples who come up specifically for the infant trade off and adoption. The buyers for the child send sperm and the surrogate performs the process. Some states allow this as legal, others do not.
I'm 17 i know im young but donating my eggs is something that im really set on doing! Ive endured enough trauma from my parents to know i would not want to be a parent myself, so giving my gift to a couple that will make use of it is pretty satisfying for me to think about.. im 7 minutes into your video and i cant lie and say i don't feel discouraged after hearing that they will ask me about my family history, i am discouraged but not discouraged enough to not try as soon as i can! Really hope i can
this is super interesting! I'm an IVF (sperm donor) baby and can attest to how thankful families are for donors. Unfortunately my lack of medical history on my bio dads side disqualifies me from most egg donation possibilities but its cool ti hear the proccess. I honestly wish Canada would compensate for egg and sperm donation bc I feel it would definitely motivate more people to do it
On the surface that sounds sweet but the idea of a government paying somoone to sell genetic material for profit is very dystopian. Would you reconsider putting that idea out there?
@@xxgothxxxx yeah, compensating for the "donation" is very coercive and weird on so many levels. I think it goes without saying that it isn't really a donation if you are being paid.

This was so helpful!! I've been looking into egg donation and this really helped me get a better understanding :)
Thank you for what you do. I'm struggling with fertility and looking into this option. I always thought donors don't undergo as much, like they go in and have the eggs or sperm extracted. I have no idea it's the same as undergoing fertility treatments, the tests and questions seems the same. It's amazing to know these things. Thank you.
Yes the donor has to undergo hormones to produce more eggs , weeks of it. Also effects sex life of the donor. Then after the mood swings and intense pms symptoms a painful retrevial process.
Thank you for doing this. As someone who is looking to use an egg donor in the future, I'm so grateful there are women like you who are compassionate and generous, and wanting to help us achieve a dream of having a baby.
Just come to this video after seeing some of your most recent ones. Good on you! You’re helping people who can’t conceive naturally as well as helping yourself at the current time. This is admirable.
Wow, idk why but you just opened my eyes to a whole new world. I truly think this is going to be the thing that is going to make my dreams feasible....thank god!! I just applied to 3 places 😂❤️
I've been thinking about egg donation for awhile. I actually applied and got accepted at a place near me but decided I was going to move away and wouldnt be around long enough. I am nervous about the risks but I know that they are small. But where I will be living the compensation is about $6000.
I know there’s about to be some jerks in the comments (already spotted at least one person born without a brain lol) so I just wanted to say thank you for this! I think it’s rly cool that you were able to do this for yourself, and it’s awesome that you decided to make informational vids about it! idk if my health would allow me to do this, but I’ve considered it for a while now and this helped answer a lot of my questions, so thank you :)

well, even though i never thought about donating my eggs, I found this very interessting and informative and I am pretty sure you can help a lot of people with that. For the next video (There is a part 2 coming, right?) I would also like to hear if the process had had any emotional impact on you? because for me it would feel a bit weird knowing my genetic material is running around somewhere, haha...
like I said, I personally don't feel any attachment to my "genetic material"! it completely varies person to person! what feels okay for me may not feel right for someone else (:
As much as I wanna do this I can’t get the thought outa my head that I would technically have a biological child out there somewhere :[
It’s not for everyone! It’s good to know what you’re comfortable with so you don’t have regrets ♥️
I’ve read lots of stories online of “donor” babies and some of them aren’t happy. Genetics means a lot. I’m adopted and it’s taught me many things about nature vs nurture. I can’t imagine actually being birthed to a family I don’t fully align with, it’s even worse when parents expect the infant to be a blank slate.
@@erinjean2695 I have met thousands of families non donor conceived and they are raped by their parents and abused. The grass isn't always greener. x
THAT PART!! I completely understand this comment, because its exactly how I feel.
I used to feel that way when I was younger. Now I realize it was part ego and part societal bs that takes the maternal instinct to an exaggerated form. I bought that lie...now I wish I had done it when I had the chance.
Thank you so much for this! Very honest video about what to expect end I appreciate you sharing your own experience.
GOOD for you I think each to their own. alot of people will find this so helpful. THank you for sharing.
"Everybody has different opinions on it, but ultimately it is my body - it is your body - and I don't think it's for anyone to say whether my choice is right or wrong. I get to decide what is okay with my body." AMEN, sista.
True, but these young women might not be aware of the potential long-term side effects of these ovulation-stimulating injections they're receiving, especially when they are "donating" (strictly it ain't a donation since it's remunerated) their eggs multiple times...
In France, that's where I'm from, an egg donation is A DONATION, therefore, you don't get paid for it, well because it's called a DONATION lol. It's seems that in the USA you're SELLING your eggs, and that is a big problem in my opinion, a sort of commercialisation of your own body (just like gestational surrogacy I must say, illegal in France), an open door to multiple drifts and abuses....
@@bonnieleela1156 i think it's great they pay you, you are literally helping someone who can't have kids, and you get paid and start being able to pay studies, or insurance, or invest :) it's amazing for both parts, and if someone is interesting in donating, there's a lot of types of donations to do, not just this one.. (like food, work as volunteer, toys, clothes etc.) this is one that is paid in some places that's all :) btw, I just found another one that is not paid almost everywhere but in some places you so get paid : blood donation, ain that crazy? Jajaja if both parts win I think it's better.. Just my opinion 😁

I considered doing this all through my 20s. Where I'm from (CA), being Asian attending a top university means $$$. But the possibility of developing health problems (I don't know how rare or not it is) after the procedure always made me leary. And now I'm too old to be considered! That said, I want to foster-to-adopt (since now I'm leary of paid adoption agencies... those documentaries about women in developing nations popping out babies for money is absolutely NOT the reason why I wanted to adopt... I don't blame impoverished women for making that hard decision BTW, but I blame systems for exploiting people in vulnerable situations). ANYWAY good luck to anyone who wants to become an egg donor, I hope you get chosen and I hope this ends up being a great experience for you.
PS. It seems irresponsible that some of your agencies didn't provide you with a tax form come tax time. It's not necessarily their job to tell you in advance that it's taxable (everyone should just know that any money exchanged officially and not "under the table" is almost always going to be reported to the IRS), but they should have provided you a tax form to file your taxes. That's annoying and an expensive lesson to have to learn for a young person who is doing this for the first time. Glad you're sharing your experience! It's so incredibly thorough.

Thank you so much Bailey! I appreciate that a lot, some people have often just blocked me and refuse to acknowledge it :( and there are a few who have even profited off it and made shirts. I think the internet has just made circulation of media very easy, which can be beneficial but without its original sources can also not be. Thanks again for acknowledging my work.
PS. Good luck with your egg donations journey!
All I want to do is donate but can't get through the application due to being adopted and having a lack of family history. It absolutely blows.

I reaaallly needed the affirmation about making sure you get taken care of. I also have spent most of my life trying to be as low-maintenance as POSSIBLE for everyone else -- to an unhealthy degree sometimes. I don't know for sure if I'll do this yet, but I felt like I could heave a big unburdening sigh when you emphasized not trying to be so low-maintenance that you forgo your own comfort.
I loved this video !! I’m actually considering applying to do this. Thank you for sharing your experiences💕 also just out of curiosity how many times have you donated ?
Thought about donating my eggs, then remembered my family history of alcoholism, mental illness, cancer and alzheimers... Okay, then, it's a no I guess...
Same here. My family is riddled with mental illness and alcoholism. I also don’t fit the BMI requirements either. I’d like the money. But never thought of anything else about it until this video
You can still donate. Some couples have that history them selves and are more concerned if the child will have similar nationalities or height or music ability. So if you want to try i say try

Great video! I applied and wasn't really expecting to get chosen, but I did! I have my first appointment next week and I'm pretty nervous. Not sure what to expect the first appointment to be. Wish I could reach out to you and talk!
@@ascosche it went well! I had blood work and a vaginal exam. I had never even been to an OBGYN before, so I was super nervous for the exam, but it wasn't that bad. I found it really interesting to see my ovaries and eggs on the screen.
I know this is a weird question but in the physical did they have you remove your socks/ examine your feet?
Hey I was chosen a couple months ago too! started the process and going to donate in June, how’s it going for you?
Serious question, even though it's anonymous isn't there a chance the child can find you via genetic ancestry mapping? It's so advanced now in criminology, in 18+ years it'll be as easy as hiring a PI.
Possibly 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t really know, and I’m not too worried about it anyway, since I always tick the box that says “I’m open to meeting the child when they turn 18, if they wish to”
It's happened before to sperm donors so I assume it can for egg donors as well.
If I was to donate not that it’s possible or I want to I’d like potential children to contact me. But I do think that some sperm donors will sober up one day to find out there’s lots of kids looking like them.
I live in the UK and I just read this "It is not possible to be an anonymous donor in the UK. You have to be willing to be known to any children born from your donations when they turn 18." OMG, nope.
PokeMe in my country of citizenship you can’t disclose your identity as a donor even if you want to with a passion, now you can import it from countries with exposed identity but our government raised the import tax so much that you will get bankrupt.
Look how different legislators are world wide, I believe that uk USA Canada have the right attitude about it it bothers me I’m a part of a place I believe to be intentionally evil and harmful.
I am really envious, here in Australia egg donation is an literal donation, as in you don't get any money in return for your eggs (it's actually illegal to be paid). I find it really bizarre that it's still coined as a 'donation' if you are getting paid for it, and at first I thought this video would be about 2 different subjects 1. making $10,000 from doing something or other and 2. egg donation info. So I have learnt something today!
I'm never going to use my eggs so I wish I could get some money from them to set myself up, that would be amazing! This video is so comprehensive, thank you
I watched as a friend had IVF 3 times and 3 times it didn't work...a lot of money and a LOT of pain and sadness. They were finally told it wasn't recommend they do it again because her remaining eggs were just not viable. They chose one last try with his sperm and a donated egg...again, expensive. But this time they got a strong embryo that implanted in her just fine. Now they have a beautiful, healthy, happy 7 year old boy. Who looks just like his daddy but with his "mother's" coloring...which is the same coloring as his non-biological mother.
It's an extraordinary gift that you've given and you should be very proud, Hannah. ❤
Totally off topic but that chin dimple of yours is super cute omg
Music4 Gamers wtf you’re so mean. If you don’t have anything nice to say then... you know. Shut the fuck up?
It is fun to think that there is a little offspring resembling hannah out there! You gave some folks a great gift!
I think your choice to do this with your body is amazingly thoughtful.
I’m curious about this but my thing for me (and your articulated this very well) is knowing that my genetic material will be out there (I also feel no connection with my genetic material but I still know it will be out there and it just makes me think “oh my goodness there’s going to be another one of me out there. What if I met them? How odd would that be?” kind of thoughts).
Wish I could donate because my own child is so beautiful and so bright. He started sleeping though the night at 3 months old. Of course not all my eggs are the same. But my medical history, BMI, and being a past smoker I don’t qualify. Would love to bless someone. I’ll send blessing others ways I guess
Thank you for making this video, it was very informative! I’m looking forward for the second part! Are you also going to do a video at the end of process?
Ahw thank you very much for taking the time to reply, I somehow didn’t get the notification (even tho I activated them 🤦♀️) and I’d probably have missed the new upload otherwise!
WARNING: DEATH BY CANCER. There are SEVERE AND FATAL RISKS when donating your eggs! Anyone considering this MUST look further into it. LOOK UP THE STORY OF Jessica Wing, and there are countless other stories that ended in death exactly like Jessica's did at only 39 years old. These stories are sooo sad, & it's a result of the lack of research that has been done of the long term effects on women's health after donating their eggs. PLEASE for the sake of your own life, reconsider this option & warn your loved ones!
This is the second video I've seen about egg donation on UA-cam in the last couple of days.
The first video was about a woman whose daughter died of colon cancer, the daughter has done egg donation. This woman had a logical approach, she didn't immediately think there was a connection until she read about another woman who had died of colon cancer after doing egg donation.
This woman was saying that there is no evidence of a link to anything, but then again there hasn't ever been any research into links to anything like colon cancer. The woman was more talking about the lack of research into connections with medical conditions like colon cancer.
I am a male, 38 and donated my boys to help a couple... women get paid more than men in donation, but either it is worth it and the time for the experience! I earned $500 twice $1000 total for my donation bank and the couple I helped have a healthy baby girl... she will be born in 3 months... It's pretty amazing to help a couple embrace a child... The experience again is the best experience and to me, I got to help someone get this child.
They get paid more because they go through a lot more, it’s pretty invasive
Frick, it feels like not that long ago that I didn’t even have to scroll through the years to find 1990 when I entered in my birth year, and now all of a sudden I’m too old to donate eggs. Damn does life fly by fast!
Check the individual agencies requirements, I know when I was looking to apply some of them cut off at 28, others cut off up to like 33
Watching this from the perspective of a donor child is really informative. Knowing the process that my egg donor mom went through was really nice knowing. Not knowing my heritage and background is really hard. I’m so glad you made a video on this. ❤️
I wonder why that information was not shared with you. I know in the states the parents get a huge book and photo of the donor mom even way back in the 90s when i did it.
Yiga Lord Banette I thought the same thing but we only have a little information that is non identifying information. We really don’t know much about her.
I am constantly amazed at your maturity. I am sharing this in hope that other young women will do the same. You did a super job with this video. I am glad you have given some infertile women a chance to fulfill their dream!❤
No lie, this is how I plan on getting some of the money to pay for medical school.
@@auroramothergoddess I’m not old enough and I started smoking so it’s probably a bad idea 💀💀💀
Ok but where did u get those earrings? Because they are fantastic
I enjoyed this video looking forward to more
I think it’s great that you can help others who could not otherwise have children!
Oh man...I'm 38. I thought maybe I could look into this. I have had one beautiful son and don't want any more children. I thought it might be nice to share my genetics with someone who can't have a baby.
Wait... you can apply out of state?? I'm currently going thru my first donation cycle in SEATTLE, WA. If I wanted to apply in CA would that be possible? Like fly me out and what not?
Ik this is pretty old video but watching this has actually made me more excited on the experience… I still have a lot of research going forward but I appreciate your video 💯💯👑
This video has been by far the most informative that I've been able to find about the process in full! I am now sure that this is something that I do want to do. Do you have a recommendation on how to find agencies? Is there a master list of potential agencies that I can apply to?
this is the agency I go through: www.assistedfertility.com/hannah-eggdonor/
I just got their okay to share who they are, sorry this response is so late, hope it's helpful! ♡♡
I have a couple questions that were not covered in either of your videos. Are donors able to know the results of the recipients? For example did they successfully achieve the child they were longing for? I believe it would be lovely to know if the recipient’s goal was successfully met. Did you choose to be informed of your recipients results? Thank you for donating. 😄❤️
I’m only scared about going through a sketchy agency and have no clue how to chose and who to go to
Hannah , great subject, in my opinion what your doing is good, not everyone would agree but no one can judge you one way or another.
The main thing is your doing it because you want to...
God Bless 🙏
I liked your outfit. It’s adorable. I’m a six time egg donor and I loved it. It was like so cool to know I was giving something that I won’t need or use to a mommy that wants to give life. Giving birth to a child is life-changing and for these moms having that experience, I imagine makes all the difference. Love to all the recipients and donors out there❤

As the egg donor coordinator at an egg donor agency, I am impressed with this video's comprehensiveness, accuracy, and honesty. I will refer prospective donors to it for reference! Parts I and 2!
I just applied to become an egg donor what do they do I need to know
they will review your application and get back to you if you qualify
Do you accept potential donors from Canada in the US?
Dc family Love just a follow up. How did it go ? And are there any agencies you recommend?
Can people with a history of bipolar be accepted?
