Thanks! This is wonderful. I love that the examples were simple.
Although I've been managing to work some with keyframing, I still picked up some understanding where I had gaps.
And the motion tracking example was so clean and uncluttered with extras, it's super easy to grasp the concept.
Not only do they demonstrate "how," but they're also good examples of "why" I might use the techniques.

I'm so happy this video came out. I just uploaded a video a few weeks ago where I manually tried tracking something. It came out like complete garbage. So bad, that I actually put something along the lines of, "Violent shaking due to manual tracking." on the video because it was so horrendous.

As a suggestion, could you guys please PLEASE consider making it possible to change the format of the timecode effect or function? The current font is so terrible and being able to put timers in videos like fitness challenges is so incredibly frustrating with the current functionality...

@@FXhome also the timecode only shows the real time passed in the cutted video. I wish there was an option to change the beginning of the timecode. thank you for answering to our wishes and for helping us out so well!
It's very pleasant to see an awesome alternative to both Première Pro and After Effects. I'm very used to working with adobe's softwares, yet I'm thinking of shifting to Hitfilm.
Btw, I highly recommand your editing solutions to newbies and they often are enthousiastic about it.

Which hardware components do you use so that it works so smoothly?
I use Hitfilm since 2015. Now it is my favorite choose to editing video very fast but according me you MUST introduce the adjustment layer in EDITING TIMELINE like premiere pro to be competitive. Thanx

Thanks for the tutorials. It really helped me in understanding the program. However, I wanted to ask you something. How can you add certain type of text fonts? I would very much like to use a Star Wars font like they used for the credits, for example.
If you install TTF fonts like normal on your computer, they should show up in HitFilm.

The tutorial is perfect but please I really need your help. I have been doing football player highlights for teams and I use motion tracking because I am most of the time required to put arrow on the players but now I am supposed to put either something like a circle just under their feet or something like rays(I don't really know the right name for it) just like how super sports and other top sports channels do their own and I am finding it difficult to get it right though I am trying but I don't really like the result. Please can you do some tutorials to help me?
which format are you using in this video?
Comps are pretty easy for me it's just the main editor timeline is what I have trouble with. (The arrangement of say, a short film because I just make mediocre VFX in comps, but I want to make a short film.)

Hello! Do you know how to keep the face tracking when filming Portrait. I sometimes fillm portrait style so the video is imported sideways. I then Rotate the video -90° to make it up right. But when i do motion tracking, it still track the original video sideways. How do I make it track the video AFTER rotation?
Do i have to export it sideways first then use that new video to face track. I'm worried about losing image quality.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I take a screencapture video of HitFilm using OBS, then in HitFilm make the video 3D and use a Camera to orbit around it.

Hello! Love these Basics videos!
Just had a quick question: could it be possible to add more "shortcut-able" actions to Hitfilm? I feel like you can assign shortcuts for too little of them. For example, some little but a bit time-consuming actions include "scale to fit" ( in a Photo-Editing Software I'm currently trying, you just press Ctrl+0, and that seems very intuitive to me). There are of course a lot of other actions, so I thought it would be amazing to add all these actions to the shortcut preferences, to let the user decide his preferred ones

How are the keyframes showing in the editor? Is it exclusive to a more premium version of hitfilm or does something need to be activated? It's one feature that's been bugging me because editing them from the controls menu can feel a bit tedious at times when you want to know where everything lines up overall.
Select the layer with the keyframes, and then in the top right of the Controls panel there is a button that looks like a square that is half filled in. It should say "Display Timeline" if you hover over it, and it will allow you to see the keyframes laid out on a timeline.

I'm using a mask but want it to change position and shape, so I clicked the path tool for the mask and did what I wanted to do. But when I went over the video to check if it worked and all I had was the last mask I made. Am I using the path tool wrong or is it a glitch?
To keyframe the points of a mask, use the Freehand Mask tool and activate keyframes for Path. Otherwise, use Position/Scale/Rotation.

Hello. When I have a new computer I would like to start editing and I would like to use hitfilm to do it. I have 2 questions to ask you: Is Content aware fill for hitfilm? and if there is it can be used for Hitfilm express?
Content aware fill is a Photoshop thing, and they did recently add a version in AE, but to be honest it doesn't work that well consistently, and there are many other ways of removing objects from videos.
i acidentally closed the panel and i dont know how to get it back

Could you use hitfilm for a stop motion series
yes, when importing footage you can also choose a file folder with picures. when importing it will automaitcly cut all the pictures together in a single video track. if you need a quick tutorial just look for "How to create Stunning Timelapse Videos in Hitfilm 4 Express" timecode 2:20
Why don't I see the same tool icons in my editor?
I have some questions:
Why can't you maintain your data in the primary layer and make the track to it?
What is that when Javert at one time urged to put one of the tracking points to the middle of video. What does it change?
What happen if you choose the scale in the tracking before apply?
What is the anchor point in the clip transform?
I hope that someone answer me that i would without restraint go forwards with studying about editing.

1: idk, it's a software problem, just create the compositive shot. This is used for the more advanced effects just like motion tracking. If you find a effect for "layer only" it also requires you to make a comp shot
2: i didn't understand what exactly you want to know XD. please try to describe it better
3: To apply the scale stabilisation you need 2 tracking points. if you have two, the distance between those points is measured, and therefore you can stabilize/use the zoom data as well
4: The anchor point is usually in the middle of the objekt. If you rotate the object, the anchor point is used as the center of the rotation.
1. If you apply the tracking data of the video to the video itself, the it will shake twice as much.
2. That was for stabilization. After stabilizing, the video will be reoriented around where you place the tracking point. Putting it in the center can help make it look more natural.
3. Nothing, since the video doesn't zoom in or scale at all.
4. The anchor point is the point around which the video will scale and rotate.

I have a question whenever I motion track the tracker doesn't follow whatever I'm tracking and I end up having to manually track. Idk if it's because I film on an iPhone? And when I film on an iPhone 6 it hitfilm can take my footage but when I film on an iPhone 11 hitfilm doesn't take it. THX
That could be down to the format that the iPhone 11 saves (HEVC?). You should be able to turn on a 'most/more compatible' mode. I recently came across the issue of footage not importing when recorded on iPhone 11.
@@dglthrawn1 Iphones shoot on a .MOV the same as the 6 but for some reason, it doesn't take the 11's shoot. But thank you so much for trying to help.

You have to click on the media track, not the Layer you just added. watch carefully at the video where he clicks.
