Violin is in hundreds of rock songs, Elton John implemented them along with other orchestral instruments tons of times, just like other artist or bands like ELO
ahhh, I remember being a synth player and enrolled in a band which plays mostly mushroomhead and sepultura. That was awful. I stuck into temporary bass substitute/sfx man. Until they decided to cover Qwerty. That was sole track I led a band to glory XD
Death metal trombone Dubstep Celesta Bossa nova English Horn Bedroom Pop Flute d'Amour All of these I want to see Maybe I'll make something out of them Idk
In their famous “Unplugged In New York” concert, they featured Lori Goldston as their main cellist. For Nirvana’s cover of “Jesus Don’t Want Me For A Sunbeam(a song by the band The Vaselines) used an accordion played by Nirvana’s bass guitarist(Krist Novoselic). Hilariously, David Grohl(Nirvana’s Drummer) played the bass guitar in that song. Of course Goldston played the cello through the complete show, including closing with “All Apologies.”
i asked my violinist friend to do a 17 minute free improv for me and he acted like id spoken spanish for some reason strings players dont know how to improvise
If a band lineup is something like drums bass guitar and they add a violin, it seems pretty obvious to make the guitar rythym and the violin melody.

Violin has to play melody unless it’s downturned, sounds stupid doing anything else.
