It's a competition. Watch the season 4 cinematic trailer. "I was the first lone survivor of Erangel, but I would not be the last." The way he continues to speak about it makes it clear that it's a fight to the death that's being staged and it's clearly being monitored as well. So killing people in the plane would be against the rules. Now why up to 100 people would willingly get in a plane just to jump down and kill each other, that's the real question here. I'm thinking there's some brainwashing involved or forcing them against their will, for example all the contestants being death row prisoners or something, with only the winner being promised to live. Something of that nature.
Watch Btoooom anime. Essentially they have guards that tell them to jump or they will be knocked out and forced out. Parachutes can auto release at designated altitude. So probably something similar.

New maps can wait. What we need is game bugs, frame drops fixed as well as cheaters being removed. I’m no game designer but I do believe making a map can be a lot of work from 3D modeling, sound design as well as keeping it unique and different from other maps.
