The story was okay but I never cared for the actor, Buddy Ebson, plays the sheriff here. There's a few actors I cannot watch or if I do watch it is because the story line is worth it. I know I shut Ebson off every 98 or 99 times out of 100. I have seen a "million" films and once in a while there is one that I cannot take.

@Puff Dragon It seems he was totally out of character in this episode. The bright, calculating, moral man all of a sudden is swooning over a woman who can't be honest when meeting his family ...and it's OK with him. That's not Adam.

I think his character was right on because he's the kind of man....he likes what he likes and others who are in disagreement of it doesn't influence his actions. I respect him for that. He didn't say he was in-love, but he definitely enjoyed her company.

@@misslucky5474 No, he was out of character in this episode. He normally obeys his father and listens to him. He also would normally think things through thoroughly before taking action. This episode is unrealistic because he didn't pay close attention to the fact that kissing that girl just to try and show her what love is was going to backfire because of the man who really wanted her. That is not what Adam is really like.

Wouldn't kill another man over words of insulting a woman but if he was jealous that could change his thinking. His father was trying to tell him dueling over words was ridiculous anyway. Adam wouldn't listen. So maybe he would have killed the other man cuz he was jealous and it was best the girl was murdered because she brought out the worst in him.

Seriously, the first Sport, Adam's horse, must have had ADHD. Adam is holding the rains with three fingers, but this horse cannot walk straight, only wants to run and constantly needs to be held back. How he walks in at the very beginning in E37, the Hopefuls, shows it really clearly. While they were filming the episode"the dowry" they are coming down a muddy slope and Sport falls, Pernell jumps off but sprains his neck and Chubby, Hoss's horse, who was right behind them, falls over Sport. Hoss jumps off as well, but breaks his shoulder and collar bone. He misses one episode and is the last three episodes of season 3 seen wearing his left arm in a sling. According to "legend" Sport was so hard to ride after this that Pernell started season 4 with "Sport" #2 who is easily recognized by his 4 white socks, where the first one only had 3...
