Now that the Pels have Lonzo to go with Jrue and Payton, they don't need any guards, and Brandon Ingram can play SF or PF, and Zion can go PF or SF too, they just need a rim protector. Jaxson Hayes would fit that perfectly.

Ok but can he do this against real men like Hassan whiteside, Drummond, Ayton, Demarcus cousins, Dwight Howard, and Horford. They all are athletic, big, and have a nice vertical. He’s not big enough to defend against people just as athletic against him who have been doing this for years. Plus the teams he did it against made it even worse. Smaller guards and forwards from smaller schools. He did it against some good teams, but he mainly takes advantage of bad defense, and people forgetting their man. NOLA could’ve done better with this pick. Especially in a league where centers are getting less and less touches. All the touches will go to Zion and he will do everything this kid can do 2x better. Zion will run the defensive and offensive side of this team because he is a playmaker. There’s no need of getting a basic center from Texas if you have a special one from duke.

Tremendous potential, long, tall strong and athletic. Has a WAYS to go before he’s able to contribute offensively, the skills just aren’t there yet. It’ll be at least 2-3 years. Already a pretty good defender, great weakside helper and rim protector and that’s how he will see the court until he develops an offensive game. Right now it’s just gimmie layups, alley oops and put backs.

Every damn starting Pelican are above avg defenders. Jrue and Zo are elite defenders. Ingram can guard 1 through 3. Zion has shown he can guard 1 through 5. And Jaxson can sky as well as any big. Shit, if they can sign Horford to b starting center he can captain a top 10 defense and stretch the floor with the 3 ball. Jaxson can learn from Al iq-Wise. Add shooting and squad is fire. I'm former Longtime Laker fan that followed Zo, BI, and Hart to Nola. Not a fan of Bron enterprises. I'm a Pelican now.

@@alexmeredith7601 I wouldnt say drummond, Horford, or boogie have good verticals. I think if he adds weight, which he is young enough to have time for, then he can stay on the floor. He doesnt need touches to be effective, he will get lobs, get offensive boards, tip-ins, etc. Hayes is definitely not basic he was the obvious best center in this draft. I don't think Zion will have the on ball defensive presence Hayes will, if you watch Zion play he can lock up the perimeter but most of his blocks come from the weak side. I honestly dont think they could've done better especially considering the center position was their only real flaw. I dont think he will start immediately but will probably give them 15-25 minutes a game. Also Zion is not a center, he has the weight of one but he's listed at 6'6"-6'7" which is the same height as Lonzo.

Bernard Bautista Ok but can he do this against real men like Hassan whiteside, Drummond, Ayton, Demarcus cousins, Dwight Howard, and Horford.

@@kristian2699 yes I know how gather step works Kristian, but take a look at it closely. When he first caught the ball his feet landed with left first which counts as zero and then right which counts as 1 step. Before he started dribbling the ball he had already moved his right foot which means his pivot foot is left foot and yes it's completely okay if he just used his right foot as jab step or as we call it "triple threat step," he then decided to move his right foot not laterally, but horizontally which caused him to took off his pivot foot way too soon. So that makes it a travelling violation.

Even just a decade ago a kid like this stays in school for three years until he could learn something on offense. Now these guys hit the pros just based upon upside, not results.
