Solemn ringing of the bells of the main church in Caravaggio (Italy)

- The foundations of the new bell tower of the main church in Caravaggio (Bergamo, Italy) were built in the year 1500, at the behest of Dandolo governor of Venice. The Gothic tower is 75 metres high and has eleven bells. The nine main bells form a concert pitched in B flat major, while the two original bells are very old and ring only on special occasions, as in this video. In this video the two bells ring together, although usually only one rings, so that I can record the wonderful sound. The bells ring after the traditional Angelus performed with the big bell, to celebrate the Pardon of Assisi which is on 2 August. These are among the most beautiful bells I have ever heard in my life, they are truly magnificent and their sound is heard for many kilometres across the plains.

- Bells 3+2+1 requisitioned during the war and rebuilt at state expense in 1948
- Historic major bell cast in 1614
- Historic minor bell cast in 1519
The main church dedicated to the martyred saints Fermo and Rustico was built after their passage through the village, when they performed the miracle of raising a dead man in 306. The first mentioned church dates back to 1196, rebuilt in the following century in the Romanesque style. In 1429, the church was adapted to the beautiful Lombard Gothic style.

A wonderful excursion to the magnificent old church in the city of Caravaggio in the province of Bergamo (in 2001 I have visited the city of Bergamo several times, including the upper town - good memories). The beautiful sound of the organ accompanies an overview of the wonderful design of the interior of the church with wonderful paintings. The almost synchronous sound of the two bells creates a unique sound wave beating effect. We must pay tribute to the fact that such a complex sound (in the physical sense) was performed by the author with impeccable quality!
