In response to one of your guests comments - WHY did the Judiciary allocate 70 judges to fast track this ? To suggest this is not down to political pressure is nonsensical. Also why are there long custodial sentences for written and said words vs non custodial sentences for people guilty of actual violent crimes against women? Further - The home secretary has no hope of creating a crime of extreme misogyny when the judicial system fails to act on the ultimate form of misogyny- sexual or violent assault on women.
Because the judiciary also needed to stamp out the orgy of criminality. They have to keep the system going, from ensuring that courts function, to having prison places, to making sure probation services can cope. Rioting and attacking the police is an attack on the whole system of law and order. Judges are part of the system to maintain law and order. Hence they organised to stamp it out.

Well, why did Starmer say that even if you are just standing there during the riots, you will be arrested? He said that we will go to prison? Sorry I do not believe that the governmet has nothing to do with some of the sentencing. Starmer let go 40,000 criminals,so as to make more room...There was talk of him doing this even before the riots,a couple of weeks before. If Starmer has not got his hand in this, then why did they not do the same for other riots before hand? Apparently the people arrested are told that they would be better off to plead guilty,so they get a shorter sentence. Imagine how shocked Starmer would have been if they all had said not guilty? Imagine the longevity of waiting for court cases, and the money that it would cost. How that would have back fired on Starmer.

People are encouraged to plead guilty, because at a trial by jury, its not just the defendant on trial, but the law itself. If the jury decide the law is unjust, even if the defendant is guilty of breaking it, the law itself can be overturned by the jury. They don't want these laws tested by a jury.
My feeling is that people are pleading guilty to avoid a longer sentence. Only my opinion, but the C.P.S saying that they'll all face the full force of the law scared folk into going guilty.
That is what the issue is - they are pressured into pleading guilty, because they are advised that it is going to be so much worse for them, if they plead 'not guilty' and then they are found guilty at trial. difference between 6 months or 3 years??? Of course their lawyer is going to tell them this is the reality, you choose. It IS PRESSURE. Take this - or that will happen!!
@@kenn1936people can be pressured by the public mood in the media, the words of the police chief, the PM's politics and so on even if the judges, prosecution and barristers did no such thing. The pressure can be there even if a lawyer sees nothing wrong from their POV.
If the crime is a Facebook/Twitter post I think they have chance of a not guilty verdict depending on the composition of the jury. Speaking for myself I know which way I would go if I was on a jury in such a case
People should be judged on their crime, not on their plea. This corrupt practise has been going on for a long time and solicitors/barristers have been well aware of it..
So making a stupid inflammatory comment on social media would have gotten the sentenced person a 30 month sentence instead of 20 months if they had pleaded not-guilty and still been found guilty? No wonder people plead guilty. That is a horrifying example of silencing people through judiciary roughing up and making examples The sentences absolutely do not match the crimes.
When I was a bit of a rouge at 10 years old and in trouble with the police, my father made us admit to some 65 cases to be taken into consideration, my brother an I never did these 65 crimes, we were finger printed, threatened, without our parents presents at the station. We received 3 years probation. We were guilty of the case of riding a stolen bicycle brought against us, however the 3 others involved were never charged, plus we were the younger of the group. Some 5 years later, I bumped into a lad from the village, he was using a different name and I asked why? Turned out the crimes in the village never stopped, and this guy was the culprit, his finger prints were all over it, breaking and entry, bicycle theft, the list was endless. The copper had fingered the wrong children. This guy did 5 years jail, so we took the wrap for his 65 crimes that he got away with. This village Copper knew he’s finger the wrong children, yet never ever came near us again. I’ve never trusted the police after what happened to me and my brother. As a note this character in the village, his sister was a serving Policewomen at time, the family suddenly moved out of the village. The shame for them was to much realising another families children had been prosecuted instead of their own son. I’ve led a clean life since my wild teenage years, I was no angel, and have been very successful like my brother. Some 49 years later I’m still considered a criminal because of this useless copper. There no right to be forgotten.
You could be stuck in a crowd of rioters, the court should have to be able to show you took offensive action versus defensive action and you were an active participant in the rioting and not just a trapped bystander
There was an elderly guy that said he was just watching - he had a stick (obviously not a walking stick) but had done NOTHING, but was arrested and sentenced to 2 years. He was not found to have contributed to the riot, but he was standing close by and had a weapon (which could have been to protect himself, who knows). Guilty by location !!
The barristers sort of contradict themselves by saying that judges are being guided to put off cases that will likely result in prison and the fact that these 'rioters' are being fast tracked and sent straight to prison.
Right. Barrister A gaslights Barrister B who in turn gaslights Barrister A, & both barristers gaslight the viewers. This video does the public a disservice.
I don't agree with Al on this, having been in the system myself many years ago I know that every time the prosecution states that they oppose bail because further offences may be committed the judge always agrees and remands into custody. If they want you remanded you will be. Stating otherwise is pure gaslighting.
You acknowledge that the 70 "independent" judges "choose" to fast track these cases in this way as if there is no political expediency whatsoever, whilst simultaneously ignoring the fact that other cases (such as the threats to slit throats made by a Labour politician) are nowhere to be seen. There are none so blind as those that don't want to see!
I want to know why Rowley hasn’t been arrested for his temper tantrum that caused him to commit criminal damage to the journalist microphone,it’s a criminal offence and if the met chief can commit a crime on camera and stomp of like a teenager being told they’re grounded.it’s supposed to be that nobody is above the law “apparently” Arrest and charge him with criminal damage and let a judge throw the book at him and use him as an example
When you have people being released early who pose a genuine risk to the public to make room for those who are less or not a public risk at all than how can we maintain faith in the system?
Absolutely - they claim no violent prisoners can get "early release' but I have heard of two that are out on this 'early release scheme". one name slips my mind, but the other is Lawson Natty, who murdered a teen with a Machete, and got early release after serving only SIX MONTHS!!!!! He was released the first weekend after the initial riots.
@@gamerlest509 From a variety of sources including legacy and alternative media. The HM chief inspector of prisons, Charlie Taylor, explaining that many being released have not been rehabilitated and likely to offend again. We are talking about burglary and more concerning crimes including those have assaulted people. Do your own research, but unless someone can confirm that the prisoners being released early are unlikely to offend again than they must not be released. When you have people doing time for things they wrote on the internet to make way for real criminals (often serial offenders) being released early than I will stick with my comment. I've personally had my house robbed twice and my car stolen when I lived in the UK . The police were useless. They did not ever capture the gang to my knowledge. If they did it appears these types will be released early. The UK crime is already out of control and you think I am scaremongering! I've been a victim of crime although this doesn't make me immune from seeing the impending crisis in the prison system
Were all missing the further cost. If i was sent to prison and caused problems my time would be spent in solitary confinement, lets call that £3,000 per week x 1,000 jailed activists. Allowing child rapists to walk free to jail political prisoners is a dereliction of duty, all the authorities involved should be stripped of entitlements and jailed for exposing society to unnecessary risks and harms.

Barristers have likely never themselves been facing a possible 30 month custodial sentence and it's their job in a way to defend the system. They're all also highly economically priviledged people. Normal blue collar people will be destitute if they hire a private lawyer and still end up in prison for 20 months.
Yes. And Disgraceful, given the human rights that are under siege. I'm heartened by the Comments thread, which near-unanimously condemns this video & calls it out for gaslighting.
When the conversation is introduced by saying that it is not supposed to be "too opinionted so that it gets us into any trouble", that says alot about the exchange that follows - and the state of the UK. Expressing opinions can now get us into trouble.
How many of the people being arrested are just sitting at home, minding their business, doing some tweeting....when suddenly there is a knock at the door, and their life is upended? How many of them who are being arrested over tweets have never been arrested before? It would be easy to intimidate them. And other people living in the UK see this, and then they begin living in fear over their words...which, IMO, the is what UK authorities want: Fear & Intimidation.
No, the government wanted this, they relied on this, as while this lot are all looking at all the ridiculous immigration, problems, the government steps us even closer to war against Russia. When Russia could not be any more in the right, with all they're doing, while we could not be any more wrong in all we're doing, (even if we really tried our hardest to be wrong). And it worked, as we have easily, the least educated society we've ever seen, or ever experienced before, here in the UK today. So we can kiss this country goodbye, it will soon no longer exist! But you'd never know it, as all that matters to so many in this country is immigration and Muslims. I completely disagree with the immigration, but that is such a minor worry in today's world. It won't matter who comes here, if we're no longer here!
i) we’ve all seen how long CPS charging decisions normally take - and the inevitability of release under investigation on all but the most serious cases. ii) are we witnessing informal plea bargaining - plead guilty to violent disorder and we won’t charge riot?
Rafe Heydel-Mankoo reported on television that his friend, wearing a business suit and tie was passing by the protesters, as it turns out on the wrong pavement. At no time was he informed informed of the wrong or right side, he was snatched by police without a word of explanation, handcuffed and 20 hours later was released. The protest was peaceful, starting outside Downing Street. There is extensive footage showing the police in a very unfortunate light. It showed random 'snatches ' by police, people knocked to the ground and now we hear these people have ended up in prison. I would say that the friend of Mr.Heydel-Mankoo was a respectable person going about his business, yet he fell foul of the extraordinary behaviour our police are exhibiting. It is a disgrace and I really cant make you two out! You seem to be taking the official line. Do you believe in what is going on? Extremely disappointed, 2 more good chaps lost.
What about Martin Daubney being arrested when he was just standing there filming the Downing St protests? He was only released when a senior Police Officer recognised him; If he'd just been a bystander filming to post, or out of interest, he would likely have been charged and faced the courts, surely that can't be right?
Seems your Labour government is applying lessons learned from the UniParty (Democrats with helpful Republicans) in the U.S. when dealing with people who came to D.C. to hear President Trump speak on Jan. 6 after the Nov. 2020 election. Innocent people were threatened of long prison stays if they didn't take a guilty plea agreement. They believed they could contest it later.

Daniel, Alan, Good afternoon. Very interesting topic and comments therein. I am asked, regularly, by many European and American friends / business colleagues, “is it true that Britain is wrecked” I’m not confident to say to them all ….. of course not. This is a sign that many establishments here in the UK are at the point of collapse. I believe that violence has no place in our society and l’m sure that the majority if not all the subscribers would concur, however, I have noted that some of your followers have asked questions concerning the attack on police in Manchester Airport, what is happening, does two tier policing exist? I spoke with a sergeant in the police at a party yesterday and after 24 years of service, he’s looking at “getting out” due to the decisions being made! Many thanks in taking the time to produce these videos. I extend a good bank holiday to you all. Best
I think there will be something later on. I recall the Covid nonsense after the woman in London was murdered by the police officer, and there was a protest. The police were trying to arrest women that were sitting down in protest, and they went about it aggressively. Later on there was an inquiry into that and the police were in the wrong.
I think you're completely missing the point... If the people are told that the impact of you defending yourself is this massive cost or that length of time waiting for it to happen, you've already tipped the scales in favour of the prosecution. It's simply totally unfair and effective blackmail. That legal people even remotely think this is acceptable is beyond any logic I can see. It's such an authoritarian system. Working class folk simply don't stand a chance against this and that is almost certainly why they cave to the legal system's blackmail.
My goodness I’ve just lost all faith in both of you. It’s a fact that if you plead not guilty you will be held in custody without bail and very unlikely that your trial will be within 6 months. This applies to all arrested & charged even the bystanders, those that spout hurty words or shout at a police dog 🐕. Or like a post on social media. I was going to unsubscribe and block your channels but instead I’m staying to prove you wrong.
Civil disobedience is the answer If 100,000 people exercise their right to free speech on social media. What are they going to do put 100,000 people in prison?
The very fact that so many people feel that defendants are being pressured to plead guilty because the courts are under political pressure to imprison protesters should be concerning to those in charge of the CJS. And while I hate to say it, the difference appears to me to be that horrendous crimes perpetrated against citizens are seen as just that, crimes against 'citizens', whereas perceived threats against the state (real or not), are treated unduly harshly. We've all seen this happen commonly around the world, and until recently, such abuses were openly lamented by the government and country as whole. But if this unfairness is really starting to happen here, that is perhaps a serious concern for us all. Maybe, the most important thing.

Barristers have likely never themselves been facing a possible 30 month custodial sentence and it's their job in a way to defend the system. They're all also highly economically priviledged people. Normal blue collar people will be destitute if they hire a private lawyer and still end up in prison for 20 months.

I'm sure it's publicly available, so just Google it.
If you plead guilty the police don't have to prove your guilt.
But why would you plead guilty unless you did it?
When the conversation is introduced by saying that it is not supposed to be "too opinionted so that it gets us into any trouble", that says alot about the exchange that follows - and the state of the UK. Expressing opinions can now get us into trouble.
Some sites have logos for paid commercials. UA-cam should get one for paid gaslighting.
