just bought a 99 navigator and it turns over but wont start the guy said it needs the fuel pump replaced. called a shop and they said 600 so im hoping to just do the repair myself but a little hesitant but ima give it a try

Wow, this was very informative. The best step by step and camera work I've seen thus far. I'm working on a 2000 Navigator that has a crank but no start problem that may require the same thing. Astral Auto Repairs Lol just so you know it’s by no means an insult it’s a compliment and I followed your video through only my vehicle did have air suspension (don’t worry I turned it off) and the guy that was helping me ended up removing the gas tank from the navigator but otherwise the video was extremely helpful. Astral Auto Repairs hey I have a question I finally got it back together but I didn’t reconnect the gas lines and electrical line someone who volunteered to help me get the tank back in did, now my question is what would happen if anything was connected wrong?? Would it just not start or something more serious???
I’m in situation with 99 Lincoln nav. Car wouldn’t start but cranks. Sprayed starter fluid and turned on then shut off. Fuses look good, relay looks fine from what I can tell. The fuel pump was replaced. I don’t hear it prime when I turn key. Checked inertia switch it was stuck in the down position, took a pick and pried it up but no change. I’m lost. Haven’t checked spark tho but I’m pretty sure it makes no difference to check that if I don’t hear the pump.

Hi again sir, can you change the fuel pump assembly without taking the fuel tank strap off? I noticed there's some space above the area of the fuel pump. Also if you don't have a disconnect tool, how would you improvise? Thank you!
It MIGHT be possible to remove the pump that way, I'm not sure because I haven't tried it. You can get a set of the disconnect tool for around $10, it's better to get the set instead of taking any chances breaking that line.
I thought I may have needed a fuel pump for my 2005 navigator the shop it's at was honest and told me they couldn't do the job because it needs a transmission control module and to contact some transmission shops i've called several shops here and they're starting to get me mad some say they can't tell me a price over the phone one guy took the vin number and called me back and told me that the part costs $3,000 IS THIS A TRUE PRICE FOR THE PART? I have the RWD 5.4L model
My 01 navigator has been baking in the sun for months. It was already on E before parking it. Yesterday I added 2 gallons to it but it will only start and stay on for about 5 secs. The digital mileage never changed from 0. Do you think I just need to add more gas? Or do you think its the fuel pump?
5 seconds is a long time, so I would add more gas because those tanks are kind of large. Add another 3 gallons AT LEAST, then try it. Let us know what happens.
Good day sir, any idea on how to install an external fuel pump on a 2000 expedition 4.6? It's so hard dropping the tank Everytime the fuel pump malfunctions. And ever heard of the fuel pump in a bucket? You know, a handy diy in case you get stranded in the middle of nowhere? Think it will work? Thank you very much!
Not helpful at all so far I changed out fuel pump not start theft light is blink8nh changed our battery still no start aft fuel pump and relay switch. Still no stat I'm 565 dollar down and tired of these know it all helpers
There are many reasons why a vehicle does not start, this videos are to help in replacing a fuel pump, which is ONE reason a vehicle won't start. If you want help from the mechanics on UA-cam, you should really consider asking more politely.

THANKS! Make sure you check the intertia switch, the fuse, and the fuel pump relay as well before replacing the pump.

One thing you can do is shop around online and see what they go for.

Sorry Raymund, but I have not heard of an external pump for this vehicle, but who knows, there might be one out there now!
