And be modest and selfless enough to think of us, the ordinary people, listening to you. Sacrifice yourself, practice, despite knowing that some people will say "Look at him, he is so vain, he had to sing perfectly." Let them speak. A few weeks ago I accidentally attended an all night vigil for Saint Euphemia, beloved of all. I thought I was just going to Vespers, haha! I had never encountered a whole squad of Greek cantors in full force. I began to suspect that it wasn't a normal service when they were still going HARD half an hour in without repreive. "Well, no copping out now lol", I thought to myself. In truth I did not think I had the strength to endure. But as I have so often lately, I prayed for perception, focus, and endurance to do the Lord's will. When my mind wandered I roped it back with the Creed or Psalm 50. Finally after completion of the vigil we gathered for refreshments and I allowed myself to check my phone- six and a half hours! I was shocked, yet serene. Truly, ask God in faith for strength and you will receive it. Anyway, I made some friends and look forward to a future visit (not my normal church, travelling). Anyone around the Sacramento/northern Bay Area in California, should visit Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church ☦️ May all my brothers and sisters in Christ have a blessed weekend 🙏

My father visited Mount Athos in 2003, he said it was one of the most beautiful places he ever visited. Im planning to visit it with him, big respect to all the monks living there ☦
I believe there was once a monk at Athos named Michael Tolotos who died in 1938. He was left abandoned at Athos as a baby, and lived his whole life there before dying. This would make him possibly one of the few people in history to live an entire life without ever seeing a woman. I have a history channel, so this kind of fact is something I like to read about. Love the music btw.
I just looked that up, and somehow ended up on reddit. I hate how poorly they talked about him there, making fun of him or claiming that religion had ruined his life. I mean, sure, a life in solitude and self sacrifice seems strange to the modern person, but it surely is saddening that these people hate devotion and living a simple life so much. It is just sad, those who have nothing to believe or to hold dear just have to drag everything down that is not akin to their lifestyle of plenty and meaningless joy. Lately I have been feeling homesick. American born and 25% greek from my fathers side who was half greek. I may have only been to Greece once since I am so far away, but it feels like there, there are like minded people who also speak their mind. I combed my NT and Eastern Patristics for the term “chill” with no success. However, keep listening and achieve many pure states like peaceful contentment and maybe even joy or some other divine state. But don’t just chill. You don’t “just chill” with the God of the universe.
I wish i could viait mount athos and spend some time there and observe the monks, but alas im from a third world country with hostility towards all the world and a currwncy worth nothing and the worst passport in the world. Im literally in prison but these chants make my day everyday. Thanks

My father visited Mount Athos in 2003, he said it was one of the most beautiful places he ever visited. Im planning to visit it with him, big respect to all the monks living there ☦
I believe there was once a monk at Athos named Michael Tolotos who died in 1938. He was left abandoned at Athos as a baby, and lived his whole life there before dying. This would make him possibly one of the few people in history to live an entire life without ever seeing a woman. I have a history channel, so this kind of fact is something I like to read about. Love the music btw.

I mean, sure, a life in solitude and self sacrifice seems strange to the modern person, but it surely is saddening that these people hate devotion and living a simple life so much.

Lately I have been feeling homesick. American born and 25% greek from my fathers side who was half greek. I may have only been to Greece once since I am so far away, but it feels like there, there are like minded people who also speak their mind.
Edit: it’s definitely because I live in the USA, a godless country. I love the old churches in greece. New parishes don’t feel the same and all the christians here are fake for the most part.

The first song playing in this video,makes me fell closer to Mount Athos,where i went in March of 2024 for the first time in my life. Thank God that my school has already planned a trip there for us,as we did last year too.I also have a cousin of my father,which is a monk in the Saint Anna Skete.Wish i could live in mount athos sometime,maybe as a shop worker in Karyes,mostly because i dont really think i want to become a monk.Shall god bless you and protect you,whether you are Orthodox,Catholic,Muslim or any other religion believer.

I combed my NT and Eastern Patristics for the term “chill” with no success. However, keep listening and achieve many pure states like peaceful contentment and maybe even joy or some other divine state. But don’t just chill. You don’t “just chill” with the God of the universe.

I wish i could viait mount athos and spend some time there and observe the monks, but alas im from a third world country with hostility towards all the world and a currwncy worth nothing and the worst passport in the world. Im literally in prison but these chants make my day everyday. Thanks

God knows our situation, we were able to find Orthodoxy despite where we live, we need to have hope that God will deliver us from our troubles and reward us for all of our endeavors.
