  • We ride the 2021 Aprilia Tuono V4 and Tuono V4 Factory! Aprilia's class-leading upright sportbikes are coming out swinging with several choice updates in the form of RSV4-inspired aesthetics, a stiffer underslung swingarm, and a clearly defined purpose between the two models.
This year, the 2021 Tuono models come in two unique flavors. The street-focused Tuono V4 features more practicality, thanks to additional wind protection, a taller handlebar, a comfort seat, and integrated grabrail for passengers. Not only that, but factory luggage accessories are optional. Meanwhile, the Tuono V4 Factory is the same canyon and track apex predator that you know and love.
Each model is powered by the legendary 1,077 65-degree V4 powerplant that produces a claimed 175 horsepower and 89 ft-lbs of torque. The numbers are less important than the riding experience, which is nothing short of sublime with gobs of smooth power available anywhere in the revs.
Both models boast the new lighter and stiffer underslung swingarm, while the Tuono V4 Factory also receives semi-active Öhlins suspension that is superb on the road. To save costs, and help aim the bike towards street-oriented riding, the standard Tuono V4 uses fully-adjustable Sachs suspension that is still quite good.
Senior Editor Nic de Sena spent the day cruising through some choice Southern Calfiornia backroads to deliver this first ride review of the 2021 Aprilia Tuono V4 and Tuono V4 Factory.

Thank you for the great content! I've been looking for a Factory model, but as everyone knows, they're not plentiful. To de-tourify the base model it appears it's the Windscreen,
Handlebars/Riser Removal? (Not sure of there would be too much slack in the clutch cable, etc), Tail Section, Tires and Front Fairing Plastic Removal. Obviously, there’s a point of diminishing return. Is there anything you think I'm missing? Thanks much for the read.

      Hey Xroadracer,
Sorry to hear about your difficulties with finding a Factory unit.
That said, I'm not sure I'd recommend converting a Tuono into a sort-of-Tuono Factory. I foresee incompatibility issues between models, which could send you down a costly part-procuring rabbit hole. If it all works out smoothly, you'd still be missing the semi-active Ohlins suspension, which is a big part of the Factory experience.
I'd say expand your dealer search. If you have to grab one out of state, then you could make a trip out of it! Also, definitely use the Aprilia store (storeusa.aprilia.com). They claim 60-day delivery times, and that's not a long time to wait for total satisfaction.
I fully sympathize with your plight since the Tuono Factory is awesome. However, I'd also recommend taking a spin on the base model. Although it is slightly more street-focused, you're getting the full-fat Tuono experience and adding versatility with luggage options. Though, if you're focused on hardcore sport riding and track days, the Factory will be your style.
      Hope this helps,
      - Nic
