I went to kashmir two times with my family. It is heaven n May, and june is the perfect time for kashmir, shimla n leh ladakh. Ladakh is a bit difficult if you go through the road. I am from Delhi. Both the cities are beautiful. Shimla would probably be a two three days trip - Mall Road par ghoomna, khana, weather change, bahar ki surroundings change (peaceful). Kashmir has more places to visit. So, a proper trip and feel of visiting a place, a proper vacation honeymoon feel would come from there.

I would say it depends on for how many days of trip you want. If you want 2 day trip then shimla is a better option. Also if you want a relaxing trip then opt for shimla as once you visit kashmir it is advisable to cover all areas of kashmir like srinagar, sonmarg pahalgam gulmarg, it would take atleast a week to spend in kashmir if you really want to enjoy the essence of each area. So decide on the basis of duration and comfort. I am saying comfort bcz aapki tabiyt and stamina abhi thik nhi lg rha.
