yeah, i dont understand why so many People are saying "Why did this never get finished? i want it"... like, wtf? it looks like absolute shiet.. it focuses on "move" controls as being a pig part of its gameplay (and nobody liked that system).. the graphics look outdated even for last gen. and overall it just looks like a pretty generic horror game with narrow corrdior walking. sure, the final product was also "narrow".. but the quality of story, camera work, characters were far better
Merlith Gero Definitely, there wasn't even a death system within the game. It's just game over if you died in this version. I much prefer the system with survivors and multiple endings we have now. Also, Wendigos scared the hell out of me on my first playthrough even more so than the masked killer when we thought he was a real killer. They are just so unpredictable and fast.

I can't say that I agree, what we got in them end was disapointing esp after all the time spent wondering if the game was canceled or not... but that's just me
I'm glad the game's development fell by the wayside for a while, then was brought back to life. The final product we got is a great horror experience that harkens back to the Wes Craven-style horror films of the 90s. Supermassive Games must have seen that first-person horror was in the rise and didn't want their title to get lost among them. This would have been a cool bonus unlock for finishing Until Dawn on the highest difficulty or collecting all the trinkets. This profile l prototype looks to be in a playable state at the very least.
for those curious: scott: proto-mike (obviously. interesting that his last name is monroe here but munroe in the official game. ) chrissie: proto-emily (i've heard that before she was called chrissie she was called brenda but i haven't verified this, i think it might have come from a conversation someone had with a concept artist for this version of the game) summer: proto-jessica (some of the jess concept art for the next iteration of the game has her name as summer, so it's safe to assume summer evolved into jessica) clayton: proto-josh (except he was hannah's boyfriend instead of brother) belle: proto-ashley (this is speculation on my part, the same person who talked to the concept artist and said that chrissie was called brenda described belle as a "rude smoking girl", and the ud developers have said that ashley was originally a "drug addict who went around the house pretending she was in an agatha christie novel", so it makes sense that belle became ashley and then the smoking was removed from her character in rewrites) devon (devin??): proto-chris (if belle is ash, then devon/devin is chris because it's mentioned at one point that they like each other i think) m.j.: proto-matt?? (mostly speculation and filling in who's left since we don't see m.j. at all, but he was apparently "all over" hannah who was a popular girl in this version, which seems in line with the jockish type of character that matt could have evolved from. plus their names start with the same letter? definitely a bit of a reach with that logic tho lol) kira: proto-sam???? (even more speculation here. all we know about kira is she likes "mystic mumbo-jumbo". process of elimination (sam is the only main character left) + sam being a bit of a nature lover could have evolved from a more spiritual character. of course, i think a lot of sam's actual character ended up turning out to be more chrissie-like, or even a bit of summer. but i think she could have evolved from kira) lex: proto-beth????? (obviously not hannah's sister in this version, but her death being seemingly the earliest besides hannah's makes her serve maybe a similar role? plus again, process of elimination.) emi: i think they threw this character out LMAO maybe it was the voice acting (laughably bad) or the fact that she shows up here for like. two seconds. but there is nothing in this character except potentially parts of her design that i see in the final game. i guess they kinda stole her name for emily. and maybe her relationship with lex mentioned in the notes was inspiration for the friendship of jessica and emily before they stopped being friends? they did end up pulling pranks together to get back at someone, only it ended up being hannah haha. i'm also not sure if the implication is supposed to be emi and lex were in a relationship? other things i noticed: this seems to be before the "anyone can die" gimmick, as someone else commented. chrissie and scott get unlimited redoes if they die it seems. plus belle died with no way to save her. i think it's also confirmed that there were no monsters here, just an actual killer. meanwhile will byles said in an AMA that he'd always had the monsters in the game from the start. so he was probably talking about the 2013 version of the game when he said that (since he likely wasnt involved with this version). also, based on some concept art- there was a segment where scott fell in the lake and had to use an axe to break the ice and get out. there was also a segment where he had to throw items into a machine to stop it from operating? and one part where one of the player characters had to help their friend who was stuck under a piece of track. hopefully this info is interesting to someone! a bit of it is speculation but i think it's cool to think about anyway.
All I could think is that it really felt like Silent Hill Shattered Memories, especially with the flashlight and the little cuts in which you control the hand. And of course, lots and lots of snow :P
Some good stuff in there and fun interactions, would've loved to play this demo. Also can't wait to see what Supermassive does next. Hopefully they go into VR again :}
No it's not, I still play PS1, PS2, PS3 , Wii and other older consoles to this day, all of them are great at anytime, especially custom modded with CFW. And yeap I got strong PC, but when I am in move, I just pickup old school console and play it on TV. Last Guardian is one game, there are much more exclusives for consoles and PC to play...
Petar Jaric yeah there are still amazing games on the old gen consoles, but the current gen console games won't work on old gens..they'd have to cut down on graphics, textures, meshes, the game size, and a lot more is just going to make the game seem unfinished unless it was made for those consoles which is why the game's on them are good because they aren't supported with current gen consoles..why do you think bungie stopped supporting PS3? Because they wouldn't be able to push the game to what it should be and just like other games as well
Alldayanyday1 On The PS4 I know man, I agree with you, because I own PC with r9 290x GPU and some old RAM and server procesor and graphics are better of course. My point is that I really dont care about graphics too much, I want good atmosphere and gameplay in games, and thats why I am playing games on old gen, mid gen and next gen :D. And also I know that devs work hard for games (most of time) and when they get opportunity for better platform for coding and generally better hardware, they will switch and make it, sell it for better system for better visual looking potencial, animations, physx and etc.., but I am little sad when I see old gen demo like this and I want that to play on both platforms, that's the stuff :D..
I don't think I would have liked this more than the one we got on PS4... That said, I would still love to play this one today! The InPatient showed that this formula definitely works on VR!

I want to compare these characters to the other until dawn characters but they seem different enough. Like you can tell these were definitely the starting points but they’re not all so cut and dry to me. PS3 Hannah seems to be a different kind of girl than the PS4 hannah, popular and maybe not as childish(the room seemed more adult). Summer does seem to be a Jessica stand in, we didn’t see much of Jessica as far as figuring out what’s happening so I was surprised to her summer talking about the mystery… she seems kinda extra ditsy and less sexual. Krissy seems like a mix between Emily and Ashley and sam… more resourceful like Emily, more curious like Ashley, level headed like sam, and then just generally analytical on top of it. I kinda wonder if she was a little too “balanced” which is why they maybe didn’t go with her as a character. She seems like she might be like a stand-in for the stranger slightly.
This is a interesting build, and it uses the PS Move's capabilities pretty freaking well. I would buy that game if it was on the PS3 at some point. Also, do you have any other prototypes of racing games like Juiced 2? NFS Underground 1 and 2?
I would much rather have this story. The final game was good, but I was expecting to be chased by a psycho, not a monster. But by this gameplay it seems that you cant prevent some of the deaths. I just hope that Supermassive may release the finished parts of this for us to play.

This looks like a ps2 game but in a good way I mean ,it would be awesome if they use this type of storyline on Until Dawn 2 it really looks good and intrigant Also the doll head reminds me to when Ashley pick one and I guess this two characters are now Chris and Ash. And the blonde one really reminds me of Jessica and Sam And it's funny how here Hanna Is the "sexy babe" and in the finish game she's the "nerd" one
the blood painting in the bathroom with the antlered skull in this build seem to imply the wendigos WERE going to be involved (as that's their traditional appearance in folklore, and they were foreshadowed that way in the final build as well). also Larry Fessenden, one of the writers, is a big wendigo nut, so I doubt he originally left them out lol.
Lilly Caul so... Larry Fessenden somehow managed to still make the most mundane and boring wendigo in narrative fiction even if he is somehow a "fan of the folklore"?
SKX FX it's easy when it's one of the first game on a new console, one of the ONLY new game on the new console and there is piss poor competiotion of shitty fake horror games... the situation is so shitty that PT is considered good while there are better INDIE PRODUCTS...
I'm not a huge fan of the final product, but I much prefer it. The movement here is so slow, and the sound the collectables make the way they mute the dialog is so obnoxious.

This is what Rush of Blood should be. Supermassive should finish this up with updated graphics, gameplay, and an actual story, perhaps treating it as a prequel to the main game.
The PS3 was nice, i miss it.....I remember playing on it the first time and being amazed, it was a huge jump from PS2 but the PS4 has been a let down in my opinion....
the ps4 has amazing games, uncharted 4, the last guardian, bloodborne, until dawn, infamous second son, the order 1886, horizon, death stranding, the last of us 2, detroit, ratchet and clank reboot, god of war, spiderman, days gone, etc obviously the graphical jump will be less and less amazing with each new gen.

to be honest I'm pretty happy how this game ended up being.
I would much rather have this story. The final game was good, but I was expecting to be chased by a psycho, not a monster. But by this gameplay it seems that you cant prevent some of the deaths. I just hope that Supermassive may release the finished parts of this for us to play.
TheTrickyShow1 right I didn't expect to see a cannibalistic Monster-morphed human be the real antagonist..but you gotta give it to them for having us think we were being chased by a killer for a while.
Well until Jessica was taken from the door window like it was nothing or the deer being snatched away in less than a second lol..

By concepts that I saw, the game is about Hannah, here the popular girl, is "accidentally" murdered a year before, the group of friends returns to the ski shelter to investigate and commemorate her death. from what I understood in the concept boxes the killer is her boyfriend (the dark boy in the striped shirt). summer is the blonde girl, amy is the girl in black clothes, crissie is the protagonist in love with scott, but she doesn't recognize him, I think they were ex-boyfriends. Devon is the tan in yellow and I know the story of this version

anything would be better than Until Down Storyline...they made me miss ZOMBIES... in a game that pretty much HAVE ZOMBIES...
the blood painting in the bathroom with the antlered skull in this build seem to imply the wendigos WERE going to be involved (as that's their traditional appearance in folklore, and they were foreshadowed that way in the final build as well). also Larry Fessenden, one of the writers, is a big wendigo nut, so I doubt he originally left them out lol.

I'm not a huge fan of the final product, but I much prefer it. The movement here is so slow, and the sound the collectables make the way they mute the dialog is so obnoxious.

The PS3 was nice, i miss it.....I remember playing on it the first time and being amazed, it was a huge jump from PS2 but the PS4 has been a let down in my opinion....
the ps4 has amazing games, uncharted 4, the last guardian, bloodborne, until dawn, infamous second son, the order 1886, horizon, death stranding, the last of us 2, detroit, ratchet and clank reboot, god of war, spiderman, days gone, etc obviously the graphical jump will be less and less amazing with each new gen.
PSVR made the PS4 gen a noticeable bump for me. Those other games listed are great as well, of course.
Sad gamers praise even unreleased games why i moved to pc gaming to get farther away from all that praise everything on there fav console. Sad how gaming has changed now time for a selfie as i type this... joking

Honestly this didn't look too bad. And the move controls didn't seem too shitty from what I saw from this perspective.
They are really quite good. The hardest part is the awkward setup needed to record stuff. Not perfect of course, but one of the best uses of the Move.
