Here's a fact: here in Washington State, there's a law on the books that should a native species of ape ever be found in this state, it will automatically be categorized as a protected species. This means that it is literally illegal to harass big foot in this state.

I remember when my brother and I were young, we were nuts about finding Bigfoot. We always watched “Finding Bigfoot”, and my brother even had a Bigfoot birthday party where we all went looking for him. We thought we found him, but we soon discovered it was our neighbor in a gorilla suit. Best. Birthday. Ever.

I grew up in rural Alberta and we actually have some bigfoot stories here n there. On night my dad and some friends were listening to Coast to Coast AM and were mostly getting drunk and had it on for background noise. They started listening because they had a bigfoot expert playing audio of bigfoot noises. They cranked up the volume and were just sorta critiquing/making fun of the sounds. After They listened for a bit something in the woods started answering the noises on the radio, and it sounded pretty similar. They turned off the radio and went inside to finish their drinks.
Bigfoot is a funny thing because its been so sensationalized that almost everyone can agree that they're silly. But when your in the woods at night; man do these stories hit differently!

I really really want to believe the Bigfoot is out there. I mean the US+Canada is BIG so its not impossible that an ape creature could be thriving out there, but I do think it's all just a myth passed down over the millenia by the native Americans of some ice age creature or even earlier that's long since gone extinct...
Maybe not. Could be wrong. But I did have the realization while visiting Loch Ness last year that IF Nessie(or Bigfoot) exists then we'd have photo and video proof by now being that EVERYONE and their grandma has a cell phone today...

Bigfoot described in this video sounds very similar to the Leshi from Slavic mythology
the difference is that there isnt a half dozen reality tv shows called "catching Leshi"

The Leshi isn't the only creature similar from around the world. If you look there's a cryptid with similar features practically everywhere and often found in folklore or religion.

@@kakahass8845 Quite true, but not all similar things are exactly that. There's some where it's not primate like, some where it's smaller, and some where it's even more human-ish in behavior. The threads that connect such things are fascinating to compare and contrast; as well as, to see both what stories the people tell and what the archeological record of the area has. Such as when tales of a forest spirit type creature line up with where giant sloths once lived.
I used to be big into crytozoology and had a Bigfoot book with various stories of Bigfoot encounters, I remember reading this particular encounter.
The story of Fred Beck and his companions is also known as the "Battle of Ape Canyon", really liked how you guys told it in this video.

One hunter killed a Bigfoot one day, he buried it, brought back scientists and newspapers, and when they uncovered the body and tested its DNA... it was a bear. Big Foot just doesn't exist, people see bears and think they've seen monsters ^^'

Remember that anyone who actually proved a species of large unknown primate was living all across the North American continent would become fabulously wealthy. Literally the money from just the money from just the podcast interviews would have your descendants set up forever as aristocrats.
Yet no one has done it. This nation full of guns and hunters has zero examples of a person drilling a bigfoot through the head with a .30-06, tying the body to their truck, and bringing it to a public space or department of conservation for analysis. Just think of how many people literally commit murder and other heinous crimes for money, but nobody has been able to find and kill a large hairy creature that is claimed to live in almost every state and Canadian province.
Bigfoot isn't real. Americans would have killed it by now and proudly displayed the head above a fireplace.

There's at least a few stories that we already have and the government is deliberately covering it up for... reasons.
I'm skeptical myself but it's at least more believable than 'giants used to exist and the Smithsonian knows it' I see every now and then.

You know there's a lot of stories from a Native Americans all across North America having countless stories of red-haired giants but even some of the tribes went to war against
And the Greeks have a lot of stories about there being gods on Mount Olympus, but there aren't.

As a Washingtonian, we have so much pride about Big Foot, if you don’t live here you really can’t understand it. Nearly everyone who goes camping or hikes a lot has their own big foot story, me included.
I always find your videos both educational and entertaining. I wonder what mythical creature you’ll do next maybe the Chupacabra?

Question: How did the prospectors shout anything to each other after shooting rifle volleys inside a solid cabin? I take it they didn't have suppressors or ear defenders in the twenties.

Apparently it was a very poorly made cabin in that it had gaps between the log walls large enough to poke several rifle barrels through. Don't know how those bozos expected to prospect for gold if between them they couldn't even build a simple wind-proof shelter.
@@AlbertaGeek it was probably temporary and hastily built because all prospectors are so thirsty for gold they'll rush through anything just so they can start getting gold
@@AlbertaGeek that's pretty typical for traditional log cabins, no tree is perfectly straight, so when you stack logs, there will be gaps. If you were making a more permanent structure, you'd fill in the gaps with something like mud or mortar, but this is a fairly time-consuming process, not to mention you'd need a lot of water. If you are just making a temporary shelter that is stronger/more spacious than a tent, this is exactly what you'd use. It will keep out the rain/snow, and block most of the wind.
Stories of wild hairy giants that live in the mountains and forests commonly feature in the folklore of many American Indian Nations across the entire Continent, some believing them to be nothing more than stock characters for telling stories to a belief that they are spirits or flesh-and-blood people, somewhere between the world of man and the world of animals, who could either be friendly and helpful or mischievous and dangerous. Very common was a belief that they would steal not only food, but people as well.
The Cherokee, for example, would leave them gifts and tribute at the edge of what was considered their territory, as a gesture of respect and in hopes the giants would either leave them be or help them in times of need. But woe betide anyone who trespasses into their lands or hunts their game.
pretty much every culture has some tale of a hairy wildman who is either a malevolent force or completely indifferent to humans.
Perhaps it's our inherent fear of the unknown and the thought of not being the dominant force in the forest that drive these myths.
I love this! Thank you for sharing! Encounters with bigfoot seem to vary from chill to aggressive depending on location, it makes me think of orangutans vs chimpanzees.

I find this question to be pointless cause to my understanding loch ness is completely locked to the water and big foot may be able to swim but at complete disadvantage in the water plus idk what loch ness really is so its ability to (bite big foot is questionable depending on which interpretation of Loch ness. Could it even do a killing blow to big foot. Like what attack power does this thing have. Is it simular to a shark or just have a decent mouth to eat small fish with. Need more data plus 1v1 would be kinda nerfing big foot cause they are social creatures ( in some stories) and team strategy would eventually kill loch ness
Bigfoot is a bear and Nessie is any number of large marine critters that wander into the Loch. ThenLoch has a natural outlet to the sea where whales, sturgeon, seals, and anything else can just swim in

Looks like those prospectors really shouldn't have put those shifty mushrooms they found in the stew. Telling their story helped them get rounds on the house at the saloon where they ended up the next day, though.
Haha, this was so good. However, Bigfoot is not just in the northwest, we've got them here in Florida (if you believe the tales) but they're also called skunk apes.

Hold up. What use is a log cabin with no windows but with a bunch of gaps between the logs? It wouldn't hold in warmth or keep rain or wind out. Seems pretty useless as a shelter.
You would fill the gaps with moss for insulation but you could definitely shove a rifle barrel through if you wanted to.
