Abandoned Barnes & Noble - Hillsboro, OR

- I stumbled upon at a recently abandoned Barnes & Noble in Hillsboro, Oregon. It opened in 1996 and closed in October 2021 due to landlord not wanting to renew lease and wants the building get torn down for future redevelopment. People are saying that In-N-Out Burger could be the home of this property. On the inside of the old bookstore, everything is empty and few lights were being on. Plus, I have a bonus video of a closing Starbucks as well! In the meantime, B&N is currently looking for a new location in Hillsboro.

Was this your local store? I totally didn't see this coming when they were going to close down. Hopefully they'll be able to find a new location soon to keep thriving.

Barnes and noble is still open in Medford however the store is not usually that busy when I go so I wont be shocked if it closes
Are there any bare shelves at that B&N? I also wouldn't be surprised if more of them are gonna close.

Dang, that’s a real bummer. It didn’t deserved to be torn down for a new tire discount store.
I have a couple of ideas on where the B&N would move to. Where the Best Buy originally was or the old Pier 1 Imports.
Someone suggested for the old Best Buy location in the same plaza but B&N doesn’t manage that location for some reason. For the old Pier 1, I think it’d be too big for the bookstore unless other existing stores will have to move out for B&N.
Update: They got the area where the original Best Buy was, so not all hope is lost. The unfortunate part of this abandoned B&N is that it synergized well with the Starbucks next to it too, buy your books at B&N and go buy a drink and read your books in Starbucks. Not a lot of places have this dynamic with each other. I guess now you buy the books at B&N near Best Buy and walk to the Starbucks all the way over by the where the Panda Express and Wells Fargo are, but it's just not the same. Truly an unfortunate turn of events.

@@GigaChadObject Wow, that's not surprising. A Barnes & Noble in my hometown opened a few months ago.

Hey Andy I never seen an abandoned Barnes&Noble before.This is a rare find.That’s a huge building too and I love the label scar.That vestibule looks exactly like my local Barnes&Noble and I haven’t been to one in awhile either.It’s completely empty inside.I forgot about Borders.Why is that building being torn down?.Is it in poor condition?.That Barnes&Noble is bigger than my local one and mine is big too but not this big.Cool window shots.Love your videos.✌️😎
Me neither but it was finally happening to film the old bookstore but sad for the community at the same time! The building itself is wasn’t in a poor condition, the landlord wanted to tear it down for new retail redevelopment for some reason. Things do sure change!
@@AndysRetailExploration The reason I’m thinking the landlord wants to tear it down is he probably can make more profit if he rebuilds on that site.If not this reason then what else could it be.When it comes to business it’s about profits I believe.
@@leedaniels7196 Looks like you got a point in here. Not sure if you heard of this famous burger chain from California called In-N-Out Burger could be coming here once this building gets razed. Many people are excited and some weren't surprised as if it's going to create a traffic disaster. There's Chick Fil A in the same shopping center and it's always packed like crazy!
@@AndysRetailExploration Of course I heard of In N Out Burger thanks to you because I seen your videos of it awhile back.Didn’t know or even heard of it before I seen your videos though because none are here in the New Jersey area but I wish they were.They hamburgers and fries look so DELICIOUS and 🤤 YUMMY 😋

Not quite, it's 15 minutes away from here to there of the South near Washington Square Mall. Hopefully, I'll have a chance of filming the old TRU once Spirit Halloween leaves the store!

I’ve seen that on Google. It has to be a glitch because I remember it was marked as permanently closed at the beginning.
