I think the rd still is a flagship stage piano even at 7 years old. A refresh in piano sounds was needed and been done. Every other aspect including action ,build quality is still superb. And still sells really well.
Только сейчас писал своё желание по этому инструменту, и о чудо, появилось его улучшение, т.е .EX. БлЯ на ходу приходится менять мечты, теперь его хочу!!!
EX added to relatively old instruments means no fresh ideas to work on. This happened also to the Fantom, a workstation that after 5 years since it hit the market, still has weak points that should have been solved from the very beginning.
@@TheCbone1979 Its not just that. Its cheaper to do so as well. In the "old" days you simply could do this as changing or adding things was impossible on analogue synths. While you could feasibly when digital emerged - realistically it wasnt easy to implement. The driver for longer product life came with the ability to download large files over the internet, and update FW in the field. This means changes and additions can be added at pretty much any point (as long as the hardware can handle it). its not just Roland going this route - itsd many electronic things in many fields. Having a platform you can refine and expand rather than the cost of developing more hardware, new coding, and such means a longer life with updates along the way rather than new products to carry the new developments.
Buy the $199 EX pack and you have the exact thing they are selling here. I upgraded to the German grand last year and it was WELL NEEDED. And it's wonderful.
Ok, so I've asked this question and cannot find any answer as yet. If you take an existing RD2000 and buy the upgrade for $199 (both the GC grand and Upright v-pianos) is there any difference between the upgraded RD2000 and the RD2000EX? If not, people should buy the original RD2000 and upgrade it because that's far cheaper. In the UK RD2000 = £2000; upgrade = £158 RD2000EX = £2400-£2595 If there is no difference, then dealers are taking £242-£437 more when you buy the RD2000EX for no extra benefit unless you value a sticker. So my question is: what is the difference?
Great showcase I have the RD2000...If Roland had improved the acoustic guitar sounds and improved on their strings, Only has like 2 ok strings, and misses on orchestra sounds...on this board . no thx... I am looking at RD08 right now..Lighter weight, and simpler, and not as hard on my back or pocketbook...
I'm starting to believe a comment I saw on the net here that basically said ever since Eric Persing left, Roland seems to have relaxed quite a bit on releasing fresh products.
I love RD2000 a lot but this new update version is good but I thought they will take technology to higher with new key action and more authentic piano sounds with the details piano design functions. Anyway it’s still a good machine compared to the other brand but only thing is they have increased the price little extra. All the best to Roland. ❤
I was expecting a new model, not minor upgrade (minor being the key word). Now that this has been released, I guess Kawai can keep the MP models around for another decade. 😒
Feeling like a time traveller from 7 years ago. After all these years with RD 2000, this is a very underwhelming update. You definitely gotta be able to absorb a lot of shame as a Roland product manager these days. This is embarrassing.

Roland seems to be EX’ing whatever they can. The hardware has been stretched to limits. Time to start working on a newer SoC and newer looks

Probably the CEO misses his EX
of course. There mid live updates to the original via FW updates - with new hardware released with the updates already loaded and the EX logo added.
If you look in Roland’s financials they state in so many words they are trying to be more green by stretching the life spans of it’s product lines.

is there also a hissing in the sound system if its turn on?? like in the lx 700 series??
So the main upgrade is the price increase of +25%, correct?
So I have the RD-2000. I don’t see that this EX model has anything new at all! What am I missing?!?
It really doesn’t have anything new except the EX expansion of new German Concert Piano and other tones. Other than that it’s the same old thing

It also seems it does not have Zenology support, which the RD88 and even the Go:Keys do have. Bummer.
They would have to ship a new board and it would damn near replace the big boy Fantom if they did that.

Awesome
2:24 Nice piano sound. I love keyboards. I’ve been playing keyboards for a long time. I post videos on my channel playing various music on keyboards.

All the amazing things were amazing decades ago... nothing new to see here...

I agree this keyboard needs am update more than just some updated piano. Larger screen and more authentic strings as well

As a RD-2000 owner, I upgraded last year and it's amazing. No need to come out with a RD-3000 - this is already the industry best.
Hmm. Unfortunately, I don’t see anything really new or spectacular here. Roland, it’s time for something new!
So, you know that rd2000 acoustic piano is not better than acoustic piano #2 in rd700.
Nord wins
