- This video is the second in a set on color changing options with lightsabers. It looks at dayblades or colored blades. I look at products from Saberforge, Kyberlight, Vader's vault, the Custom Saber Shop (TCSS), and some premium options from Ripper blades (www.ripperblades.net). I look at features, differeces and similarities, and fuction. I also discuss how they work to alter the color of the LED.

So is a Day Blade going to work better to change color on a white saber than with color disks? Is going to be brighter?
Not brighter, but in my experience the color is more even.
Would really love to see that blue LED thru unstable red ripper blade at night from a distance.

So if I get a deep red saberforge hilt, and use a red day blade, will the core look white with a red outline? Or just a lighter red core?
It will be red with a slightly different red core.

no. If you find a silver day blade, it is either opaque, in which case no light would come through at all, or tinted, in which case it will be about the same or slightly dimmer.
Thanks for the info. Quick question, I am running a white led with either my blue or green day blades from SF. To make the color a bit more vibrant, would using a color disc with the respective day blade do the trick? Have you done this before/ is it worth it, or does it dim the blade too much?
It dims it too much and there is not a lot of pay off.
What size are the kyberlight Day blades? I was looking on their site but I couldn't find it for the day blades. Thanks for the review, I've been considering Day blades but I wasn't sure if they were worth it before watching your video.
The Kyberlight blades are 36"

I got dayblades from Saberforge, and I found that the clear blades from ultrasabers looked better in the sun.
So I've been looking for a new blade for my US initiate LE v4 blazing red, and I've narrowed it down to a infinityedge dayblade or a plain Infinityedge blade. Which would you (or other commenters) recommend I go for? I'd love to buy both to try them out, but funds are quite limited atm.
Get the red dayblade. You won’t regret it.

Hi there Darth, I'm taking an ultrasabers bellicose in guardian blue to LFCC this year which will be very exposed to the light. Which type of blade will be best for preventing the colour from being washed out when turned on? Thanks in advance.
Day Blades would be best. Direct sunlight will wash out anything, so use a colored blade and it will not matter. You won’t even need to turn it on unless you want the sound and flash on clash. The latter should still be perceptible.
Did you diffuse or sand your kyberlight day blade because mine does not look like that
I put diffusion film in it. I just use craft cellophane. you can get it by the roll.
Hey darth! I had a question about the kyberlight day blades. I recently purchases a kyojin model saber and wanted to replace the clear blade with a day blade. Do you think that the kyberlight day blade would fit the kyojin model? And if not, which branded day blade would? Thanks alot!
Kyberlight blades are 1" PD. The Kyojin uses 7/8" OD. So the Kyberlight blades will not fit. Vader's Vault offers a 7/8 photon, but the only people I know who offer a 7/8" Day blade are Ripper blades. They are at www.ripperblades.net I have a coupon for them DCEP42 it will work on anything over $50
what is the difference between red day blade and enhanced red day ?
Enhanced red is a florescent blade. I look at those in my video on photon blades that follows this one. The red one will be slightly brighter with anything with blue light in it but also more pink.
Oh ok well im asking because next year im doing a con where it has a section that it is indoors but has tons of windows with the sun partially beaming in so trying to decide which to go for, my led lite is red so i was wondering for the best red
In that much light, do a standard red day blade. The enhanced one will look pink in the direct lighe and you are not going to get any more glow out of it with a red LED than you would a standard.

You basically have to cut the TCSS tube yourself, add the diffusion material, and glue the tip on, right?
you can order them cut to size at no extra cost, but yes for the other things.
Which company’s datblade would you recommend? Kyberlight is selling them for 20 percent off but I heard they don’t have the foil.. what you think?
My two favorite options are Kyberlight and Ripper Blades. Ripper Blades are super nice but on the expensive side. The unstable pearls though are a thing to behold. The Kyberlight Blades are solid blades and one of the best values in the industry. They are without film, but a quick trip to a craft store and you have a great blade at a much lower price than anyone else. The warranty is a nice perk as well.

So if I were to run a blue light through a blue blade, would that translate well in the blade? Also how long did it take to ship from kyberlight?
Kyberlight ships pretty quick. A blue LED will go through a blue blade just fine. Stick some film in it first so it spreads out.
What's the difference between the dual diffused day blade and the enhanced day blade? Speaking specifically about the ones from Vader's Vault.
I am going to talk about enhanced day blades in the next one. It should be up in about half an hour. Enhanced day blades are a lesser form of photon blades, which is what that video is about.

How would a blood orange LED from saberforge work with any of these dayblades? Would it just kill the brightness if it was paired with anything other than a normal diffused blade?
Orange is made up of red and green light. That means you will get practically nothing running it through a blue blade. Purple is a bit better: you will get a deep/ dim purple/red. If you run it through a red blade, you will get a deeper orange, closer to red. If you run it through a yellow blade, you will get a lighter orange, if you run it through a green blade, you will get a yellowish green. You have to stick with blades that have colors that are being emitted by the LED.

Depends on what the bar is made of. Pine: no problem. Mahogany: nope. Oak: would depend on the finish. :P

Should I get a vaders vault purple day blade to use with my saberforge purple LED or a saberforge purple day blade?
Really about the same. VV standard are thinner and lighter. SF standard are heavier and more durable. VV has the more durable as well, but it is an upgrade.
@@DarthCephalus My son has an Ultrasabers amethyst. The purple fades to pink as the batteries die, which still looks cool, but he wants purple. He needs heavy grade. VV only has thin wall. Saber shop says their thick wall doesn't let out much light. That leaves SF and Kyberlight. Any preference? Is one brighter than the other? Your videos are great. Thanks for all of the info.
What about an orange LED with red or yellow day blade?
Dark and light orange respectively.
Which is the best for dueling I need a really strong one
day blades are just the regular blades with color. Any heavy grade should do. Kyberlight is probably the cheapest dueling daybkade option.

Would it have a good illumination if my disk color is green with a different colored blade?
If your blade color is red, they will fight and get dim. If it is green, it will have little effect. If it is blue, it will be a bluish green only slightly dimmer than the original. Any blend, like yellow or orange, will be somewhere between.

The dust Is likely dust. Without the diffusion film, every spec will shine. Most of that will not be visible after you diffuse it. If it is really bad, unscrew the tip and shoot some compressed air down it.

I would have to say the best premium option would be the ripper blades pearl purple unstable. The best budget option would be the Kyberlight.
Which do you recommend for like blue with blue red with red ect and dueling?
Yes, usually keep the day blade the same color as your LED. There are exceptions, white will work with about anything and you can run blends through either of the blended colors. For example, you can run a purple LED through a red or a blue blade and it will be red or blue respectively.

Yes, by a lot. Best hilt depends on your budget and what you want to do with it. If you are dueling and have the time and the money, the Vader's vault is the best made. It takes a long time to get one though. Saberforge is often prettier and is still a solid saber, but can have hard edges that make many of them better display or costume pieces than duelers. Takes a medium amount of time to get. Kyberlight is about half the price for the features you get and is still a solid saber. They also have the best customer service and turn around time of the three.

If you mean the blades, yes they do. Still a better option than anything else for trooping or performing in direct sunlight, or over long periods of time when a battery charge would run out.

How do the day blades compare to normal blades in the dark?
As long as the color is comparable, they are roughly the same in the dark. The color may be a bit deeper.
