Putting together a trailer 25x

- The guy at Harbor Freight (www.harborfreig...) said it would take 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Of course I took that as a challenge. I do not hook up the electrical but it is done. Nice little trailer ( search.harborfr... )
This was put together with Vegas Studio and sped up twice(5x each time).
Cool Video, best I seen yet for the HF trailers!
I used one like that, 3 spring with 12" tires though, to tow about 200lbs 2000 miles, and brought home about 900lbs on it the 2000 miles.
Towed behind my motorcycle both ways cross country over 4000 miles total!
I built my bed to be about 4'x'8' on the 40"x48" frame and moved the center cross rail and tongue forward with existing holes.
No problem with the trailer!
I totally enjoy the Benny Hill Music. Thanks for the high-speed intro I'm pretty sure I can get it LOL.
I've owned this same 48" x 40" trailer for well over 20 years now, but with the smaller 8" tires. I bought it from Harbor Freight. It has been through several incarnations... from a 4' x 40" materials hauler, to a single motorcycle hauler with 6' x 40" flat bed, to a furniture/appliance hauler with a 7' x 40" bed with 3' tall sides, and I'm currently rebuilding it into a boat trailer by adding a 14' galvanized 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 3/16" square steel tube for a tongue in addition to moving the axle/axle spring location forward for better balance, in addition to adding all the accompanying boat trailer-like appurtenances. 12' aluminum boat+motor+gear+new tongue= about 280lbs. (WAY less than 1/2 the weight of the previously hauled motorcycle). For about 10 years of her life, when not being used that often, she was stored outdoors uncovered and shivering, buried in all those Minnesota snow drifts and sweating out all those humid summer sun scalds and she still has no rust on the frame members and only a bit of rusty paint chipping off of the bottom of the old tongue. People bad mouth the Harbor Freight trailers all the time, but in my experience, this little trailer has never let me down, even when severely overloaded on long freeway trips at high speeds on 8" tires, and has without a doubt delivered the best cost to quality ratio of any vehicle I've ever owned. The key to making this little trailer strong is to bolt down a 3/4" plywood bed to all of the frame members to stiffen and reduce twist, and she'll last a lifetime! Rock on, little trailer!
had the 4 x 8 version 10 years ago
. paint was weak but it worked great for towing my snowmobile behind my chev corsica. you could hardly tell it was there
I was putting mine together yesterday. I spent at least 3 hours on it, but I had somewhere to go, so today I need to put the wheels and lights on and it will be all set. Then I need to make a rail for it so I can carry a motor scooter from Ohio to Florida
Great video! It was nice seeing the build from start to finish. Thanks for the post!
It's doing well. I built a rig to hold the front and rear wheels of a 2008 moped. I then ratchet strap the underside to the trailer. It seems to do well.
Gee Man, Great video. I hope you enjoy your trailer for many years due to the amount of time you spent building it. I had to laugh at the wee boy with his bike watching you, don't know if its your son, but how many packet of crisps/chips was he eating, it seamed a lot.
I think I would buy a trailer pre-build unless I got it a lot cheaper If I had to build myself ?
Cheers
I replaced the '96 F150 I almost never used as a truck with a '92 Miata. "Almost never used...". Hmm. Thanks, Tim, for the perspiration and inspiration. Free shipping and five days later, I can almost never haul again. Haul-Master - 870lb utility trailer #42708,
Curt Trailer Hitch #117293, Tail Light Converter #56175 and 1-7/8 Ball #40016 to fit 1-1/4 Drawbar C45521--the 3 trailing 11729.
Curt and etrailer have some vid's on youtube. Your's is better.
as the name of that song?
Man that guy moves really fast! How is this possible???
If that is your son why not include him in the spanner work.He looks keen and happy to be with his dad but let him put some of it together and he will remember and benefit from it for his whole life.If he is not your boy let him do up a few of those bolts anyway.Keep up the good work
pena não ter uma destas para o Brazil, seria muito boa, é leve, facil de guardar e pratica.
I wouldn't trust it! Making a review video will be great.
Thanks for sharing.
C-Channel frames twist very easily, buyer beware! Get a trailer with fully enclosed tubular steel... much stronger and way more stable under load!
i have this same trailer, i love the little damn thing
I would really like to see how you did that extension. Did you weld any?
I hope you were smart enough to remove the China grease and repack those wheels prior to finishing off and actually using this trailer. It is simply there for packing purposes and will run dry on you quickly if you don't repack the wheel bearings at the axle. Use a quality grease as they do for boat trailers.
The biggest common problem with these mini-trailers seems to be the electrical glitches at the lights, due to poor grounding. Most folk go to a dedicated ground wire that is installed outside of what comes with the trailer pack contents. Be looking for such once you try to install your lights.
Nice trailer build, but the Benny Hill music gets irritating pretty quickly and loses it's overall charm. :-)
still watched at 2x :)
I just got one of these and have seem several people mention repacking the bearings with new grease. Could someone recommend a good one plus possibly explain the process. I've never done anything like this before. I'm sure it's not rocket science, but an experienced person would have tips that a beginner like me wouldn't think of.
Thanks in advance if anyone answers this ;D

Place an amount of grease in the palm of your hand and press it into the bearing from the more open side, continue around until the entire bearing is packed as full as possible and squishing out. Then install it. Your auto parts store will show you the proper bearing grease.
thanks kitty!

Was it hard getting it registered?
+Dominic Provini
No very easy and the registration lasts for 5 years.
It should be from Harbor Freight.
C-Channel frames twist very easily, buyer beware! Get a trailer with fully enclosed tubular steel... much stronger and way more stable under load! I've seen these trailers before and conducted testing on it... its not actually road legal...........
